- In January of 1968, at the height of the Vietnam War, North Korea captured the USS Pueblo, provoking outrage in the US, with some calling for a nuclear response.
CDR Douglas Hackett, USN (Ret.) explores the Pueblo’s surveillance mission, and provide the definitive naval intelligence assessment of whether the Pueblo was in North Korean waters, based on North Korean-provided information. This event took place on July 1, 2015.

Great channel, lots of recent history. Thanks for posting
I myself was able to take this boat for a little spin. She responds well, and still had a constant party going below decks. In fact, it’s the worlds longest running party.
My dad was sent to Korea instead of vietnam because of this. Kinda morbid. This event might have allowed me to be born.
Was he aboard a ship? If so, which one?
Wow.. My uncle was captured....
@@photografr7 Are you able to discuss the Pueblo? Working out of the command cave in Yokosuka I was assigned to Pueblo and Banner ops when the Pueblo was captured and was the one who made several phone calls to the Air Force to scramble their aircraft. If so you can contact me at leonardh@icloud.com
Fascinating
There is an interview on TH-cam with the XO. Sum up the interview; captain was a horrible drunk and it’s all his fault.
