Sew good to see you 😊 Love the ostrich top, adding the gem stones is a great idea. 🎉 For the black floral, I think a duster is the best option because of the wrinkles. I would love to see you at DC Frocktails again 😊
Thank you so much, Will! Ohh a duster! I’ll keep that in mind too, recently, I even thought of possibly using it as a lining for a camel wool coat if I ever get around to some of my wool fabrics lol It’ll take me a moment to figure out what to make with that viscose! Wooohooo you’ll be there 🤗 I have to stop playing around and grab my ticket for DC Frocktails before it’s too late
So good to see you back Fatmata and adorable to see little bubba with you too ❤️ I hope you're all doing well. Looking forward to seeing those other projects soon 😊
Thank you ever so much Tanya!! It’s been a lovely transition back to sewing, but I’m glad I was gentle with myself and took the time I needed. I’m energized and looking forward to exciting makes this year. Your Blanca flight suit was so inspiring and what a tone to set for the start of the year! AMAZING! I’ll be working on getting better about commenting this year too. Thanks so much for watching!
I have missed you too. Thanks for the catch up! Life has definitely been lifing. The joys of hand stitching a garment are often not emphasized; but, they exist and one includes making sewing more social. Recently, I hand stitched a zipper into a pair of pants. The biggest problem I try to avoid when inserting a zipper is uneven horizontal seam lines. When the pants were finished I used a zipper foot and machine stitched the zipper in place. Perfect. Hand stitching gave me time to control the fabric, the stitches and the zipper while cheering on our football team. I'm interested in the Baltimore Frocktails event this year. It looked like a lot of fun. Welcome back!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the catch up, and I can't wait to share more with you soon, Bettye! I couldn’t agree more, I don’t always realize how isolating sewing is for me, but getting to have an finished project at the end of a long car journey felt incredible and I could be with hubby. Glad to hear about your sewing adventures during the game, I would have to say the amount of control hand stitching gave me as well was worth the effort, as it was for you🤗! Recently, I went to my parents and while the kids were playing and I was catching up with the family, I spent time cutting out pattern pieces (yes, I brought my small cutting mat and rotary cutter lol) I felt so accomplished and got to do one of my least favorite tasks in good company!
It is so wonderful to see and hear you again. Due to illness and surgery, I haven’t been able to sew since September. Since. Don’t anticipate much focused sewing until the spring I will live vicariously through all of my favorite TH-cam channels. I can’t wait to see your progress and makes.
Thank you for the warm welcome back, I am so sorry to hear about your surgery, but wishing you a full and speedy recovery. I’m be sure to sprinkle in some whimsy then, to make it a fun watch sewing wise until you can get back to your machine too, I’ll help keep the inspo going. Are there any other hobbies you are looking forward to or able to maintain in the meantime?
Happy to see you again Fatmata! So funny, others lose their sew-jo and sew up a quick tee shirt or something. Fatmata: just made up an ostrich feather halter top! Happy to see your smiling face on my feed! That floral viscose twill is gorgeous.
🤗 thank you so much! The ostrich feathers were calling me!! A bit of unnecessary extravagance after a hiatus lol I am so excited about the viscose twill, if I can’t work out a great low wrinkle project for it, I’ve been thinking it could make a lovely lining under a camel wool coat maybe 🤔
Welcome home, you look well glad your baby is well, family is well, maternity leave has done you well. Looking forward to all you have to tell us, be gentle with yourself, see you soon ❤
@@whitmakes thank you so much for the warm welcome back! It’s so amazing to have carved out some sewing time and I’m actually feeling energized and excited for new projects. Thank YOU for your amazing content over the months, you’ve kept me company, motivated, entertained, and inspired. I’m praying you have a wonderful year ahead. Also, I have to be better about commenting, I’m always multitasking and have not been great about going back to say thank you for the amazing videos, but I so appreciate yours
Happy New Year! Welcome Back!!!! You have been truly missed. I can’t believe the little man is 9 months, wow. Two of our Joann Fabric closed (Lutherville) & the Owings Mills location is closing January 19th. I’m glad you showcased Baltimore Frocktail & Art Scape. Have a good day.
Hi Roz, thanks for the warm welcome! I was so sad to hear about the store closures, it’s hard to lose a good fabric source. I’m actually not as familiar with the Baltimore fabric scene are there smaller local shops to supplement these losses?
@ , we still have a couple of Joann Fabric stores in Parkville, Columbia, & Bel Air Maryland. I believe there is one in Westminster Maryland as well. Also, some Hobby Lobbies & Michael’s.
@@rozreed4759 Happy to hear that. Also, some Michael's (possibly all) are starting to carry some fabric, not sure of what the selection will be like, but it's nice to have that for areas that don't have as many options for fabric stores. Happy sewing!
Good to see you back! For a pucker free finish, a strip of fusible interfacing a good inch past the end of the zipper has been working amazingly well for me!
That is such a great tip, thank you so much for sharing, and I’m looking back at this project like I cannot believe I skipped that step. This is what happens when I rush😓 all the better that I didn’t complete these, so I can take time to do it properly now
Lovely to see you ! Those feathers 🎉 Well done on finishing WIPs and sorting stash before getting sewing ! What a good example !! We are funny with our last minute creating aren't we....I was hemming a dress at midnight before the knitting and stitching show 😂
Thanks so much for the warm welcome, Deb! 😊 I am so happy to have gotten to some sewing last month and I am also proud that I worked on mending and old cut out projects instead of diving to new and shiny projects, now onto the new and shiny lol thank you so much again!
I feel like I got the button idea from a thrifted blazer I have and some outward, but I’ve applied it even to dresses, mostly when I’m using a shank button so that it doesn’t stress the fabric as much. It makes such a difference and makes the buttons so much more professional, let me know if you try it. Send the updates on the nautical pants in the chat, I wanna SEEE!
Welcome! You have been thought of! Imsoglad to ‘see’ you! And give. The saga the Zimmerman dress was, it was right and proper to wear it that night. ‘‘Twas meant to be.
Thank you so much, I have missed it here!! Omg you are so right, I don’t know a dress more deserving for Frocktails thank that one from all of my makes, and I’m glad it worked out in the end that it had its moment to shine! I can’t wait to share more!
Yes..I missed you❤ and I’ve been to MD twice.. just left about 3 weeks ago and could not find the recommended thrift store comment you told me to go visit 😩😩 I knew they were in Laurel I think. Really missed you but figured you were settling in with the new baby. Your pieces look amazing
Thank you so much Maxine!!! I hope you had some lovely visit up here in MD as well! Yes my faves in Laurel are Laurel Prime Thrift (they have the 50cent patterns and I get great notions from time to time, then Red, white and blue often has random finds in the back right side of the store near the bedding), and 2nd Ave (although I have not seen their aisle for fabric/material in a while), venturing away from Laurel I love all Value Villages. So happy to be back abs I can’t wait to share more with you soon! Thanks for much for your support and kind words!
Thank you Estelle!! I thought of you when I went to California (but the conference kept us so busy), you’re in my thoughts now with the current devastating wildfires. Not sure where you are in CA, but I hope you and your family are well! It’s great to hear from you too!
Hi Patricia!! It’s so good to be back in the sewing room, I missed connecting and sharing with all of you! It’s been wonderful catching up on your videos and recaps of the year!
Hahah almost, I just saw him learning to drive the other day, these kids grow up fast! But it hs been really exciting recently, he learned to crawl, now I’m in baby proofing mode again 😅
