Awesome series of videos about this ficus! I really appreciate your knowledge and especially your stamina. I am 69 and think you might be around my age or older. Apparently one gains energy from doing bonsai which I have been doing three whole weeks now. lol Again thank you for sharing.
Soo glad u started making videos. Learning some new things here and there . And with 50 plus years of experience this is great to watch and learn from. Thanks !
Hello David, thank you for sharing your knowledge, i have been doing bonsai for last 12 years, i have many trees in my collection, 95% mostly all collected , what a great hobby, i have junipers 50 to 60 years old,, wisteria over100 years old, 12 privets over 50 years old, list can go on and on,, 8 ficus collected from building site, so people check out your recycling centers, ask your neighbours, if you see a garden clearance van or a truck check them out , your collection will grow like crazy
Thanks David for another and finalizing video of monster ficus. Next Spring I'm putting my greenhouse so I might try some tropicals too. Keep bringing up more videos Can't wait
G'Day mate. Do you find root work is easier dry or moist. Do you ever hose the roots off instead of using chopsticks??? As per the using finer soils in warmer climates works here in Australia where we can have wwk straight of 40c plus (105f plus)
Regarding the scythe, I haven't had any problem with tight overgrown roots of any of my plants yet. Maybe another 10 years... And I still wonder if my fingers would be a fairly good fertilizer.
Great series! I'm looking forward taking a N3 level course with the SBPM someday with you:) did you make your own soil mix or is there somewhere that I can get it too? (I'll be repoting a little procosma next summer) thanks!
Not recommended. As mentioned a few times during the series I have to store away this Ficus for a few months in a warm greenhouse and I have very limited space so the repotting was necessary. The ideal time would have been end of June
This brilliant transformation was the result of many factors: hard work, experience, botanical knowledge and artistic integrity. What an inspiration!
Sure Nigel Saunders will enjoy this video hehe!!
Indeed I do!!
