Thank you for this helpful insight. I am applying to a tiny and intensely selective program at a New England college. I want to write the director, whose publications and research I admire so much -- but I wont, I will just wait for the committee's response. I will hope my writing samples and letters of reference will speak for me. I am on tender hooks however; I want this particular program so badly, the faculty is incomparable, and it is so small. Excellent vids, thanks.

@@tsmullaney Personally, I'm planning on doing a 1 year Honours degree after my Bachelor's, which is a direct pathway to a PhD in the UK. I was wondering how accepting is the US to Honour degrees instead of Masters for PhD.
It would also be great if you could cover any important unique American academic cultures regarding PhD applications. That foreign students may face issues with or should know. Thx
