    Beautiful! Pat, everything you make looks so cute. I love watching all of the things you make. Sometimes I think the fabrics don’t a,ways look like it would work; but, it always turns out great! I love it! You are a natural!! I enjoy all that you do! Tell dad, “Happy Birthday”! 🎊 ❤ 😊

    Love the pillow. When I do them, I put a piece of batting behind the piecework, and muslin , then do a little bit of quilting in the borders, in the ditch between the piecework and the borders. This keeps the back of the piecework,(inside), very tidy. It is an extra step and layer, but also adds just a touch of definition to the overall piecework and pillow front.

      I do this too! I’m going to try the interfacing on a small pillow.

    I’ve been a cross stitcher for years, Pat, and save even the smaller strips from trimming the design. They make wonderful bookmarks for children with cute designs stitched on them. You can trim with ribbons, etc. Just an idea.

    Love the look of a mitered corner on the Red Zinger border. No need to unstitch any of the borders. Simply sew and flip... then topstitch the selvage to the adjacent border, just as all the other selvages are topstitched.

    Yeah Pat! For finishing your Christmas xstitch! I don’t do pillows; I have a dog that would get white hair all over them. But I do have a little hanger stand that my hubby made for me: it looks like a fancy clothes line, with clips. So I’ll take my Christmas xstitch, frame & back it and hang it there. The stand sits on a shelf (hubby also made that too) that hangs over the stairs that go from our foyer to our livingroom.

    Love the “magic” today! Mitered corners is genius! The pillow looks great and I love the tips you shared on making it!

  • @Carol_Sews
    @Carol_Sews ปีที่แล้ว +2

    When I make pillow backs, I cut each piece twice as long and fold in half so that I have a sturdier back and a fold instead of a hemmed edge at the overlap. I cut the fabric lengthwise so that the fold is on the lengthwise grain. That way it doesn’t stretch as much when I insert the pillow form.

    • @carolk8848
      @carolk8848 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do the same!

    • @Carol_Sews
      @Carol_Sews ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes I make a lining instead of just folding. I put the half-inch seam allowance near (not on) the fold, and those extra layers of fabric give even more support to the edges.

    Love that mitered corner idea, perfect on this type of border, I assume two half sq triangles would work equally well for the 4 corners. They will elevate the quilt for sure. I wonder if the corners r mitered on the lady’s quilt u had for display, don’t recall. Way to go, don’t u love brain ideas like that, moments of genius!

    The letter "I" on your pillow is hard to read. Design should have a dot on the letter "i" or used "serifs" on the capital letter. Design flaw.
