Today I bring you a special song. A song that is highly regarded as one of the best. A song that screams high jumps, strong punches, urgency and caution.
TOUGH GUY ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So! Guys, it’s been a while. About 4 weeks since my last upload 😅 BUT, as you can see! I’m back!!! And I’m so so so excited to show you guys my newest remaster. I’ve seriously been working on this one for a very long time. I even restarted the entire file once 🫣 I was going a certain direction that I liked but then it took a turn I didn’t like… so I restarted the file, kept going that same direction and had a more strict mindset. I limit the instruments, limit the insanity 💀 and made something I’m ultimately very happy with. I cant lie though, the mixing was the worst part…. every sound has its place in the mix y’know. And making such a huge song was so difficult to do cuz you already have so many huge instruments playing, like choirs, French horns, string ensembles, electric guitars! So many things clashing, so I really did try my best to make them all fit in there. Had to try a new mixing style I’m not really comfortable with hahha. But overall, I think it turned out decent 😎 I hope you think the same.
But! As for the art… this is where I REALLY struggled…. I redid the thumbnail sketch about 3 times. I tried all sorts of angles and poses and faces. I tried almost everything. But for some reason, I just couldn’t draw Midbus’ face… so, as u can see 💀 I just didn’t draw it HAHA. I was like “WHATEVER ILL JUST DRAW HIS BACK” and it worked! If I was more skilled I would’ve totally drawn him facing a different direction so I can show the anger in his face as well. But drawing bowser, y’know. It’s like second nature for me now 😅 I had so much fun doing this one though. Sketching it, linework, coloring, shading. It was so fun. And drawing Fawful was especially great cuz he’s so tiny and easy. And putting him next to bowser and Midbus really show the scale of these two heavyweight beasts. Anyways guys! I wish Bowser had his own Boss Theme instead of using the one for Mario and Luigi.
I find it interesting that this Midbus boss battle is the only Bowser boss where Mario & Luigi cannot fight any enemies you inhale.

Ive only played one Mario and Luigi game. Yet here I am, loving this type of music. Quick subscription earned for this one. Maybe consider covering Never Let Up from Dream Team some time. Its has a similar sort of energy to this, and I bet u can make an equally amazing cover.

@@Typho157 Awesome! Ironically, Dream Team isn't even the one I played, it was Paper Jam. And the thing that first hooked me into Mario and Luigi music is the music of a normal battle of the alternative mode of Superstar Saga, Minion's Quest. Wait a minute, that's another great song to cover, that and the boss music for Minion's Quest. Eh, I won't actually request them, yet. One request at a time lol. Maybe I should actually play the games too some time lol.

Usually remixes aren't even good when you click on them, but this, is for once even better than the original.
Specially when the tone of the song goes more "serious", you managed to project the intention of Yoko Shimomura of "take this seriously, your life depends on it even if the enemy it's weird".

I honestly really appreciate this comment. I always think about what sets me off when I listen to a random remix in my feed. Sometimes I just simply don’t feel encapsulated by the sound enough to listen all the way through, or maybe there’s too much going on, just not enough continuity. There’s many small things that I think about when remixing or remastering music, I want the listener to feel the connection between themselves and the music, and I’m glad that you think my remaster here is better than the original and good enough to be listened to 😎🙏🏻

The 3DS remake of the game is a bit easy. One, you take less damage and enemies have less HP to start. Two, with retry clocks removed, you don't have to worry about restarting from the last save point in the event of defeat.
This is amazing already. Perfectly captures the feeling of the battles and also perfectly nails the super mario vibe in the music too. Seeing fawful in the background actually makes me want to see how "a fateful clash" (fawful battle theme on the 3DS) would sound like with your remix. Great work as always

The horns were so hard to get right. I COULDNT figure out if I wanted them wide or mostly mono. Cuz there was already so much happening in the mix, it was hard for me to fit such a large sounding instrument in. So I went the super wide way and I suppose it worked! Thanks bro

I returned to listen again and this was pretty good. Funny story, I actually mistaken this as Dream Team's Adventure's End but, listened to this banger instead. Kinda wished you had an Adventure's End remaster though, especially the drums with bass guitar was really good after the 10 second mark. Looking forward to whatever cover you produce next!

Yeah me too. The mix is very, crowded. So many big instrumnets were playing their respective parts so it was tough to fit such a boomy instrument in there without saturating it too much and making it just sound weird.

Genuinely incredible remix. At first i thought it would be somewhat bland, yet when that choir/brass (honestly idk) kicked in at 0:37 it caught me so off guard! Insane work :D

Maybe I should start commenting after the whole thing because I was about to write that it had the same energy as the original one, sounding as bouncy and energetic as before but that I liked the direction of the 3ds remake more
..Until I heared the part at 0:47 which completely suprised me and it started building up and up and then a chorus got added and from there I took everything back.

I could be nitpicking and I wouldve prefered a smoother transition into the loop because I felt like the transition from the build up into the beginning was a bit too abrupt and it felt a not that smooth after the loud buildup leading into a more quiet section.
Again overall fantastic job as always

I wish we got one fight against the bros or some doppelgangers of them as bowser instead of the mirror match in the memory zone. Fighting him with his new abilities in this game was fun but a role reversal would have been great. Though I imagine something would come along to stop him from winning totally.
Agreed. Legit the only time we got to fight the bros was when u were Mario and Luigi fighting bowser at peach’s castle, at the start of the game. Soooo, yeah I totally agree
