- This video is the second one that I have made highlighting some historic homes in Greenville, South Carolina. In this video I look at four more homes in Greenville that have significant history in Greenville and what I feel are interesting stories associated with them.
The first house is the William Bates House. William Bates was a textile pioneer and was a very prominent and successful textile manufacturer in South Carolina. He was one of the first individuals to build a textile mill in Greenville, South Carolina.
The second house is the John H. Goodwin House. John Goodwin was a farmer, postmaster, and politician. His plantation consisted of 600 acres and his house is now a landmark in Greenville County.
The third home in the video is the T. Q. Donaldson House. Donaldson was a prominent lawyer in Greenville and also served in the South Carolina Senate from 1872 to 1876. Donaldson also saw action at the First Battle of Bull Run in the Civil war.
The fourth home is the Lanneau - Norwood House. Charles Henry Lanneau was a Charleston, South Carolina native and a textile magnet who made Greenville his home. He was one of the true trail blazers that played a huge role in making Greenville a textile mecca.
