One of the best interviews I have heard from an athlete. Dude didn’t complain or play victim. Only thing disappointing , was the interview wasn’t longer.
I always think of J.O. when I think about players who got caught up in the change of play styles. Dude would've been an all-star in the post-up era, still would be a guaranteed bucket in the league
Here for this whole interview, JAH was sooo dominant, foot work was crazy, had size etc, just entered the NBA at a time when it was transitioning but man he was THE ONE ☝🏽🔥
2014 high school class is actually crazy. People forget theo was also top 10 in that class. And to the point at 24:00 theo and justin jackson both went to unc as top wings
That class was Insane and it's crazy because the league literally changed that next year For Jah I still think to this day he has one of the best post touches around the rim I've seen even for him at duke
I’m liking this pod more and more . no drama or weird hot takes , just cats talking about hoop . More specifically, I wanna acknowledge how GOOD Theo Pinson is as a host and podcaster! Dude is owning his craft ! well done yall !
Glad to see the big dawg being given another shot in the league. Also as a Memphis native thanks for the Leroy Black shoutout! Y’all ain’t get cheated either 😂🫡
Kyle got IQ and jr can shoot 3s and avg 15 on the low low… but jahlil wasn’t that bad , everyone know centers take longer USUALLY, but politics is real
@RunYourRaceTL Theo, as a Duke fan i appreciate you keeping it real bro👏👏💪🏽 wish you would've committed to our Bluedevils... its obvious you still have love for Duke even tho you went to UNC🤢🤮😆 Na, the rivalry is the best in sports HANDSDOWN😏👏💪🏽
Ja was a victim of the league evolving. Dude was really good his first season. def couldve been a consistend 16-19 pts 10-12 reound guy had they rsspected the traditionasl big another gem of an interview. salute to big Jah
Good to see Jahlil on here. The way the league blackballed him is damn near criminal. Made zero sense. They pulled the same crap on Boogie and Dwight. And they've been undermining Wiseman's development since his rookie season. It's a bunch of BS. I don't respect it.
@@josheasy6716 AD had a growth spurt in high school he wasn’t even always ranked number 1 in Illinois in his class it was Wayne. Then Wayne got hurt and fell off.
@@josheasy6716 again ima say that’s being too nice if that’s the case KD needs a statue in Golden State, D Fish needs 1 in LA. Horry needs 1 in LA, SA, and HOU. Don’t forget bout Shaq in MIA, Ray Allen in MIA, and KG Ray Allen and Rondo in Boston.
Jahlil has always been a great young man. Killer on the basketball court. Won on so many levels of the game. 76ers was the worst place for Ja. At that time 76ers were garbage and didn’t want to win games..
Jah's career got cut short because he lost a step after he got injured in Philly, but he still could have been a solid back up in the league if the style of play didn't change the way it has where many big men are being expected to be able to step out and shoot.
Honestly as a Nets fan I was pretty disappointed when they barely used him and my only beef with Kenny Atkinson as a coach. He barely played Okafur but it felt like the few chances he did get to play a good 20 min he would score 15+. I think what really hurts Okafur tho is his lack of defense. As a Center to be a weak defender and rebounder you better a HOF offensive talent. Okafur has good offensive talent but not great.
He got drunk and slapped fire out of a dude outside a bar one night. It was caught on camera. The league doesnt like stuff like that and it’s only tolerated if you’re a really good player (see: Ja Morant) Also…Jahlil just came along at the wrong era. If you’re an unathletic Big who can’t shoot or protect the rim you’re unplayable
Y’all stop pandering the guest damn. I’m not saying that we should put him down or anything, but to say that he is out of the league because of “politics” is ridiculous. Jahlil was an awesome post player and faceup center, but he couldn’t playmake and defend to save his life. He was too slow footed and couldn’t react to what the defense is doing.
Duke didn't win the coach for Wisconsin blew it when he stop letting big k drop oak off in the paint. Big k was destroying the whole team and Bo Ryan self sabotaged the badgers. That's what happens when you allow a division 4 coach from Platteville or whatever who actually coached my older cousin Andre Dalton from Milwaukee Wisconsin, Nicolette highschool to 4 consecutive division 4 state championship 🏆
NBA is just like any other company. Talent is great but politics always play a factor. If you're not networking with the right group, go to a bad organization, have a personal life in order, etc. it could hinder your growth in that organization/company. This last point alludes to a bad organizations ... I've seen sooooo many players careers end prematurely & i know they could help a team. These organizations hire their "buddy" instead of the most qualified individual. Trash coaches, trash GMs, trash owners run rampant throughout the league. Just go look at the previous years drafts. Start from 2000 & work your way up. A lot of these picks I'm like wtf are they thinking? I get the "hidden gem" theory but some of the shit is obvious. If evaluating talent was my primary job, i guarantee, i say again guarantee! I would do a better job than those fools. Aight enough with my rant lol
