These are truly going to be Ugly Sister’s of the High Seas. I absolutely adore the Spirit Class ships without doubt the best ships for families of the last decade on the channel taking the best of what Dunkirk vessels did before them so surprised they never followed up with another three ships and ran five Sisters to own the cross channel sector on Comfort and Volume.. These new ships just seem to be moving carriageways built for freight which was supposed to be on the tunnel. Interesting to see if the low cost stats which won this design hold true because their direct competition are running old kit so that competitive advantage should hold true in short to medium term.

Great up to date tech , easy turn around perfect for Dover Calais route. Electric and smooth. Most definitely the future. The spirit ships look better and in future could be used for longer ferry crossings. DFDS use really old ships and ex P and O ships. At least they have expanded there crossings as should P and O. Trade is increasing between U.K. and continent.

As a matter of interest, the sound (or lack of) and the lack of vibration must be reminiscent of the steam turbine days, I remember travelling to Rosslare as a child in the 60’s and early 70’s on the old St David and later the Caledonian Princess and Duke of Rothesay, there was no trembling or rumbling just a whirring from the turbines, totally smooth and these double enders must be similar in that respect

But.... how does it cope when the sea is rougher than this? Genuinely interested as we are terrible sailors and have always found the Spirit class ferries to be more comfortable for crossings outside of the summer season.

      Hi. Thanks for watching!
I have not heard of any negative comments regarding her Sea keeping capabilities. She was designed specifically for the Dover Calais crossing and she has a tremendous amount of power for manoeuvrability therefore, I would imagine she is very stable in bad weather?

P&O are withdrawing the Kent (video on my channel of her last ever sailing) and Canterbury so, there will be enough capacity and with the Pioneer using less fuel there will be cost savings.
