My x2 great Grandfather was born in Aberdeen. He came to Australia as a free Settler. I can only try to imagine my family history stretching back to his birth place... tears to my eyes seeing all those grave stones. Thank you for your video.
@@laraharris8918 I would have loved to have visited Aberdeen, in fact England/Cornwell, Wales and Ireland as well. My ancestors were a mix of all, some were Convicts, free Settlers and a couple of Red Coats! Due to my age travel is out of the question, that is why I appreciate videos such as yours. Kind regards.
I grew up with Seaton Park, St Machar Catherdral and Old Aberdeen pretty much on my doorstep, growing up in Tillydrone (which I'd love to learn more history about) and grown up with its history, but even all this time it still absolutely captures me and leaves me in awe by the amount of life lived in these few miles, thank you so much for this video and always great to see people who appreciate the history! Hope you had a nice time during your stay here and thank you for helping put our history out there!
I was born and raised in Seaton, near Old Aberdeen and indeed attended Old Aberdeen School. Most of my childhood was spent around this area. The Old Town House had a library upstairs and Police Box was located at the side to house the local constable. It was refreshing to see the old place again. Thank you so much for the memories.
Well done for a great tour....brings back a lot of memories of my student days there and going to the Machar after lectures on Friday ..and then into town 'Saint Machar lived from around 540 until around 600. Little is known of him other than that he is said to have been one of the twelve companions of St Columba who sailed with him to Scotland in 563, and that he established a Church in about 580 that later became St Machar's Cathedral'
A little interesting thing. The lawn infront of Elphinstone Hall used to be the site of a large Manse, home to the minister of Kings Chapel. The foundations of the build are still there just under the grass.
Lara what a great channel.. about St machar cathedral if you look hard at the outside of the cathedral you will see little holes . it was when Oliver Cromwell s men fired musket fire at the cathedral. Yes Lara there is the arm of William Wallace. In the wall of st machar cathedral. There is a star shape outside the ground s . near the end gate of the graveyard outside . I hope you will find it Lara . it is there. Scott.
@@laraharris8918 Lara . Aberdeen is the city where I was born . I loved taking photo of old Aberdeen and its history. I left Aberdeen 15 years ago for my job in Elgin. Take care Scott

@@ronwood7029 I went to Old Aberdeen from Seaton Primary 1959. My late brother Raymond would have been there in 1957.

Thank you so much Chris! I have had a little stalk on your youtube and saw you're a music producer. You can count on my full support for this x

Wonderful! What did you study in Aberdeen?
