    Wow. They have five shifts on a 30 minutes journey. I didn't realise that when I travelled. 😀

    Thank you for sharing, but this video left me wondering if you left out any driver working for Edinburgh Trams? ❤

      Rough ballpark estimate:
      One way trip is 30 minutes. One tram every 7 to 8 minutes. -> There are roughly 5 trams going in one direction at any given time, so 10 trams, and drivers, in total on the line both directions.
      Assume traffivc 16 hours of the day. Assuming drivers work for 8 hours you'd need 20 drivers.
      Assume drivers work 5 days per week, and increase for weekend traffic - so maybe multiply by multiply by 1.25? That's now 25 drivers.
      Now factor in no nargins above (breaks, sick-leave..), vacations, training etc.
      Not less than 50 drivers, but probably not over 100.
      Whaddya think?

    They might want to try hiring drivers that can do the entire route, rather than having to change them out every stop....
    😉

      Of course the Drivers do the entire route... I was just visiting every tram stop.. So it was a different tram & driver each time.

    It's good as far as it goes and will be better with the Lieth extension in operation. 4 or 5 more lines through the city is where they should be at by now though. Think European mainland cities of similar size. Regardless, I have 1 major gripe. There should be a direct, covered stop with travelator/escalator/lift link into Waverly Station. Calling St Andrews Square stop Waverly is a travesty. A Hauptbahnhof in a German city is also the hub of all Public Transport services. Integrated Transport? The planners need shot!

    • @TicTacTrolleyServiceTico
      @TicTacTrolleyServiceTico  ปีที่แล้ว

      At least there's a tram network to begin with and still it's a good network. It shall be interesting with the newhaven extension

    Great stuff, Edinburgh! Amazing how they pulled up all the old tram lines in the late '50s, early 1960s and they've laid them almost exactly as they were in the toon then! 😄

    It is great to see how many cities are waking up and putting there trams back. Melbourne kept theirs and still have the largest network in the world. Sydney got rid of theirs and now it has cost many millions to build 3. 😵‍💫🏳‍🌈

    We have got the Samething from Wolverhampton to Birmingham as well as the Railway,and it's a dam.good idea as it's Reliving the Traffic Conjeston and bringing More People into both Cities and the Sceam should in my view be Exstended to Walsall Because of the Reason I've just given as well as been cleaner and More inviafriendly the only Complaint I have got in Regards to the Trams are the seating as they are Uncomfortable Compared to the Trains

    00:50. “This tram is FOR St Andrew’s Square” Really? What kind of messed up message is that? How can a tram be FOR something.
    A better choice would be “this trams DESTINATION is St Andrew’s Square”

    • @TicTacTrolleyServiceTico
      @TicTacTrolleyServiceTico  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not exactly a major issue really. I mean most TOCs have this for their services and it's not confusing at all

    • @mtgdocs846
      @mtgdocs846 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TicTacTrolleyServiceTico Agreed; not a major issue, however, if it's not confusing (to locals) it's certainly questionable grammar.
      You might be able to say "this tram is FOR commuters" but it's use in this instance has no discernable support grammatically.

    IMO, the price of going to/from the airport should be the same as the rest. A single ticket that excludes the airport costs £2 but £7,50 including it. I enjoy it anyway and took it from the airport to Picardy Place (where the original terminus was)

      @@TicTacTrolleyServiceTico so its being extended down Leith Walk and Constitution Street to the docks. Next, Edinburgh needs to crack on with a circular line using the old Caley route from Leith North to Roseburn, and then the rail bypass from Georgie round by Morningside to Niddrie, followed by two routes to the South, one via Liberton to Penicuik and another from Cameron Toll to Dalkeith, each connecting with the circle. With modern technology, these can all be single track with passing loops in stations, at least initially. By then, a majority of the citizens will have access instead of today's tiny minority. Oh, and there could usefully be a branch from the existing line over to Corstorphine and Drum Brae.
      Otherwise, even if (when) cars are banned, there will still be bus congestion in the city centre, just like Oxford Street.
