I'm right with you. The reason people hate the game is because of the Werehog. Gamers find it stupid for a Sonic game to focus on a God of War styled combat. I like the fact this feature was in it. Like if Sonic levels were just him running to the goal it would get boring or the game would be pretty short (Ex: Sonic Colors & Generations) This was the only game to me that felt like the developers knew exactly how fast Sonic truly is. And let's not forget that intro and the music. The only problem the game actually had was that the Werehog stages were a bit too long. Other than that its an amazing game. They should implement the speed stages for Project Sonic 2017.

***** Well, if you REALLY want to argue semantics, it could be debated that Metal was able to do that because the power of the emeralds was split between the 3 characters and it could possibly not have worked on Super Sonic if he used all 7 emeralds on his own (which they obviously didn't do because it would have gone against the game's team gimmick).

The way super sonic works is when Sonic has all 7 chaos emeralds he can transform for a very short time. He can extend the amount of time by collecting more rings, but they will constantly be drained meaning to sustain it he has to collect more continuously. A very important thing to note is that just like how Mario can stockpile HIS power ups, sonic doesn't have to use the emeralds the moment he collects them.

Personally, my feelings on this fight is that contrary to the dramatized version, Mario would really only get one or two power ups during an actual fight just like how there aren't that many power ups in the levels of his games, and just the same, Sonic probably wouldn't just happen to have all seven Chaos Emeralds. Since I believe that base Sonic is stronger than Base Mario and a good deal of his power ups, I think Sonic would win unless Mario just happens to get really lucky.
