Great review. I might try putting a small command strip to keep the unit attached to the mount.
Another great review, Steve. Just FYI..I had the same issue with the unit falling out of the holder. I used some Sticky Tack(putty adhesive used for hanging posters on walls) and haven't had the problem since.
They fixed that issue w/ the new iGrill 2. It doesn't fall out anymore. Check out my review of the iGrill 2 I just posted.
It is wel known that I am not an apple fan, but this is one of those times that I wish I was ;)
Great review Steve!
Ya can get em for Android
How does/do you turn the device off?
Looks very cool and easy enough to use. Great review!
Is there an alarm on the phone when the temperature reaches the preset temp?
First time that I see app for checking temperature! Nice.
Can you still get calls and texts while you are using? What if you get on the internet on your phone then want to get back to idevice app to check your temps? Will you have to reset everything ?
Yes, calls, texts, etc...all work just fine while your mobile device is connected to the base. As long as you have Bluetooth connectivity, then you're fine.
Question for you...I see the probe has some kind of plastic protector on the bend portion of it...Is that safe to use for long smokes/cooks, does the plastic melt?
They claim the probes can withstand up to 700°. I've cooked a bunch w/ it so far, probably as far up around 500°, and it's been just fine.
Ok I'll check it out. Is there any place else that sells the probes? They are sold out of extra probes on the site.
Hmm...good question. I'm not seeing them anywhere online either. You can call them and ask...but I'm assuming they'll be back in stock quick.
Hi...I'm in the UK so cant get the ambient pro pit thermometer accessory for this, would you be able to use just the igrill mini and the one supplied meat probe as an ambient pit thermometer (say, for maintaining 225 degrees on a cook) if you rigged up a stand to hold it in place?
Which do you like better.... igrill2 or maverick et-733? Thanks for your reply!
iGrill 2 b/c it has 4 probe connections. Check out my review I just posted: iGrill 2 Review
How to replace the battery
How does this stack up to the recent Maverick review model you reviewed?
ArizonaMMJ The Mav measures both pit and food and is going to have a longer range since it's radio frequency. So you're getting a more robust unit w/ the Mav, but the iGrill Mini is an excellent, affordable option for someone that wants to solely measure food temp on the phone or tablet.
how to turn sensor off
On the site, they have been out for a while. Only the 500 something degree Therm is avail. I want the 700 degree and ambient one. eBay has the igrill2 for $79.( make offer) thx!
I am a real Apple dude! That is way I would give five thumbs up for that one!
Good video
WILL THIS WORK ON MY ANDROID SAMSUNG S5 ?
Jim Bowesman yes
+Jim Bowesman no.
The device snaps in now and does not fall out
I have this and it is a TOTAL piece of CRAP!!! The app is all advertisements for other idevices. I want to monitor temp, but the app spams you ads for other products. Will NOT stay paired with my android phone. Good idea, but they ruined with a crappy app full of ads .
Lies
Rumor has it the probes malfunction and fail extras are $17 each.
You guys, this has nothing to do with apple. Lol. It's just the name. You can get the app on droid also.
it worked amazing for chicken breasts
Kinda cool ! or should I say Hot?
igrill and phone. great way to spread salmonella. Thanks !!!
