My Girlfriend has owned this car, not the Fsport model though, for about 2 years now. I know there are other brands that have some more bells and whistles but I have to say we both absolutely love this car. For one it is perfect for her. They're both small and pretty and have great lines. It runs great and for a small 4 cyl with a turbo it'll move. Maybe not as well through top end as some competitors but it also gets crazy gas mileage. Easily 500 miles to a tank on the highway, without even trying. It's small but one of the most comfortable cars I've ever driven. I've been really impressed. The only thing I really hate is the bluetooth. If you are moving at all it won't let you connect to it. Which is odd. You can do everything else on the menu except that. Otherwise I absolutely love the car.
+ja2022 Same here bro! It's sad that the LFA was discontinued a while back because if it was still being manufactured today, it would have competed well with the upcoming revival of the Acura NSX. - Michael Land
Congrats! I've been really into these cars lately & am planning to buy one soon! I drive a 2015 Toyota Camry XSE V6 which has been a great car for the past three years of driving it, but have been wanting to upgrade to a sports sedan & this is by far my #1 pick! It will be my first Lexus!
I bought this car as well, back in October of 2019, ultra white with black interior. It had 38,000 miles on it and is immaculate. I absolutely love it! Of course, we're all currently sheltered in place so it mostly sits in the driveway. I miss taking it on the road.
I'm shopping for one of these car now, and You have done an awesome review. I feel like you covered every little details a consumer should know. Thanks bud
Used to have a E90 3 series in gray, luxury package. That was a good classy looking car, but people don't compliment it as much as they do with my 2014 is250. Same color combo as this one. Looks unreal in person. Great attention to detail and very well built. Best part is that I don't have to worry about a dead water pump or VANOS issues that my BMW had
Simply perfect review. Thank You SK 04. You are real professional. Everything is pure and simple but with enough attention to various details. I am watching your videos from the time when you owned Lexus ES, and the videos are getting better and better. Wish I could get cars for testing from manufacturers tho. Thank you Saabkyle04 once more !
Wow, 241 hp. I'll bet that's pretty quick! My 4 cylinder Altima with 175 hp gets from 0-60 in about 7 seconds and feels pretty quick, so I'm sure this feels even faster!
If you are looking for quick performance, do not buy this car. This car is slow. A Scion accelerates faster than this Lexus 200t. The car gets faster until the turbo kicks in, but for that you have to wait few seconds. Few seconds, feel like years when you need a quick acceleration car. Great Video, Thank You!
Comprehensive and useful review, thanks. For example, it’s good to know the engine has port- AND direct-injection - so no need for expensive intake valve cleaning, a la BMW - Otto- and Atkinson-cycle and water-cooled intercoolers.
Hey Kyle ! I'm from France and I want to tell you that my father has a 2015 IS 300h Business Package since October 19, 2015 ! He bought this car because his ex-2007 Nissan Qashqai 1.5 dCi (Diesel engine) was about to reach 100 000 kilometers (62 137 miles) and it was 8 years old. It's also because my mother's ex-2010 Volkswagen Polo (compact car) 1.6 TDI (wich is also a Diesel engine) was not useful anymore... Everyone I know like this car. 😉 Really, for the IS 300h, I rate it ***** ! 😀
I promise that I will buy this for my mom one day. My family was going on a summer vacation and our rental car was the 2015 Lexus IS250, (no F-Sport) since then this was her dream car. We rented the car because my mom's 2002 Toyota Sequoia was in need of a water pump. #ToyotaLove
I ordered the new Red color IS200t F-Sport and I love it but my only real complaint is the LCD display is small and it should fit the full screen from left to right!
Nick Karipidis i was in the car market in 2016 just so by so chance and i ended up getting the turbo edition, i had the choice to get a is250 but when is200t. i hope i made the right decision i need my car to last like 10 years lol
John sierra Of course it will last and more. Don't mean to insult anyone. Nevertheless 6 cylinders are better than 4 when you have to drive almost 5.000 km like me every summer
If I remember correctly, the 250s were prone to excessive carbon build up inside the engine, which would cause drivability issues (rough idle, shuddering, stalling etc.) It might not sound like a big deal, but from what I hear just poking around the forums, it's an awfully expensive issue to service and even after being serviced, nothing is really stopping the carbon from building back up again, so eventually you'd be in the same predicament as before. Personally I would steer clear of the IS250.
I bought a used 2017 IS200t F-Sport last year (gray exterior, red interior) 15k miles for only $27,500 & all I can say is incredible car for the money!!! Love it!!! Upgraded from a 2015 Toyota Camry XSE V6 & it feels much more solid & much better in every way. These vehicles aren't going for much money in the used car market right now cause most people want SUV's/Crossovers.
rnorred1986 How do you feel about the performance difference between V6 Camry and the IS? I’m trying to trade in my Camry as well, except mine is an I4.
Much-needed power upgrade, now competitive for the lower engines. Probably the best ride-handling suspension tuning in the class, without need for an adjustable suspension. Turbo exhaust sounds like crap, which all turbos do, so an exhaust change may be useless or needed, depending on what they do at the dealer. I would target $40k for the 200t and $45k for the 350.
wow, you do a really in depth review, great job. edit: just noticed this car has a foot e-brake? for $40,000 we can't get an electronic e-brake? my wife's $34,000 Q3 has it standard... wtf is lexus doing.
I like how the Lexus develops their "razor-sharp edge" design and transfer it to their product line, especially the new RX. Nothing comparable can be find on market, car looks futuristic and definitely outstrips it time. New 2016 RX looks more aggressive and eye-catching rather than previous model. There is no problems with design at all. But technically they have removed atmosphere V6 2.5 engine from IS and replaced it with this 4 cylinder engine with turbine. Firstly the V6 gives a higher endurance of life and with this engine car can pass more mileage rather than normal 4 cylinder engine's. Turbine will loose it's power on approximate 100000KM, which requires it change. I highly disagree that Lexus now follows German cars way, for example BMW, Mercedes sets to their vehicles engines with very small volume (1.2,1.6, 1.8) but installs a turbine, so that HP outcome will match to the power of V6 engine, this is not lifelong solution as such engines will require a replacement on 200000-250000KM and turbine will loose all it's power. Japanese car as an American cars initially followed to the concept of integrating large volume engines just remember Toyota Camry XV20-XV30 there were plenty of V6 3.0, V6 3.5 engines. That types of engines can smoothly run upt 300-350000KM until it requires full maintenance or replacement. So I am completely against that Lexus started to follow German cars concept. Same goes to RX, in previous generation in base model with FWD it had a Toyota's 2.7 4 cylinder engine, those engine was enough to accelerate RX's body and provided decent dynamics, now at new RX200t they have placed turbine 2.0 engine, for the first 80-90000KM the resource of turbine would be enough to provide dynamics for RX's heavy body but after turbine will require a replacement and in addition the RX's heavy body causes load to 2.0 engine. So it is inappropriate to put such low engines in SUV's. Hope that Toyota would stay to it's concept of V and atmosphere cylinder engines and will never place a turbine.
+ASUS Republic of Gamers (Asus G750 ROG) Канал I believe with everything you say but they want the cars sold first so they can even reach the 250KM mark. I'm sure right now its a big thing to turbo charge a car but that's the only thing to do to get good gas mileage and MPG.
Ever considered using an external wireless mic for your live narratives? Not just in this clip but in other videos as well sometimes it's hard to hear when you're so far away from the camera.
I'm debating on getting a Lexus F Sport or an Audi A7. I'm an owner of an IS250 and like the car, but I think the F Sport is attractive, but geared towards 20 somethings. The A7 is attractive and classy at the same time.
I saw about six of these lined up together outside a Lexus dealer recently, front end to the kerb. Looked like a recent model toyota had hooked up with a front-end loader and they'd popped out a litter of very homely babies. Not saying anything about interior or performance, but on styling - what were they thinking?
Hey kyle, it's extremely new, but when do you think you'll be able to review the lexus gsf? How long is the process for a dealer to allow you access to a car from the time it's released?
Nice review Kyle! I agree with the decision that Lexus made to introduce a new trim-level for the IS because as you pointed out, the Audi A4, Cadillac ATS, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and BMW 3 Series even introduced their own turbo-charged 4 cylinder engines before Lexus did. And with those engine offerings, fuel economy is even for sure bound to play a big role in this segment as well. On a different note, since you now have the Borla S-type exhaust installed on your Dodge Charger, do you plan on taking it on the racetrack again as well as filming a video on it? (Please reply to me as soon as you can) - Michael
They should've bumped the boost up another 5 pounds, or better yet, they should've used the 2.0 boxer engine in the FRS/BRZ/GT86 and used the twin scroll like on the WRX. If I'm gonna be getting a 2.0 turbo might as well go wrx, it's cheaper, pushes more boost, and it's quicker than the IS200T F sport.
Excellent review! This Lexus will be my next purchase. I am just waiting to find a low mileage one owner used one that has been well taken care of with the F-Sport pkg, Rioja Red interior and Metallic Grey exterior. Btw SaabKyle, I too have a triple black 2008 Saab 93 2.0t convertible in pristine condition with 77k miles. I've had many offers throughout the years, and I just can't seem to part with it. to start the engine you have to press the brakes and click the start button but to just turn on the power just click the button with out pressing the brake

Lexus is smart i respect they know how to attract more & more clients

Sorry for asking, but how does push button ignition work? Like, what if you want to turn on the vehicles power only, instead of starting the engine?
to start the engine you have to press the brakes and click the start button but to just turn on the power just click the button with out pressing the brake
Thanks for the explanation.
+gigaraga ur welcome
Hey Kyle do you think i should trade my 15' 250 for this 16' 200t ?!? I've heard that turbo engines don't tend to last as long!!?!
It's a Lexus it will last forever. 250 is a trash engine. There's a reason why I got the 350
