  • Hey Guys,
I made them!! I’m so excited and happy at how they came out. I made with the the lady one with red and the other gentleman was done off camera. I LOVE these so much. I used the original Tim Holtz file cards as templates and used his paper packs to trace and cut them out. I hope you enjoy this super easy craft with me video.

Don't you just love how hubby fixes things for us to make our creativity much more enjoyable? I have one of those. I just smile over at my hubby and say, can you fix it for me , please? and boom, like magic, its done. i had the same issue with lighting. Love this project! you inspire me every time! Keep it up! I too color the black n white pics. I use watercolor pencils. Dab the pencil with water and begin to color

Oh how darling these are! The added dangle really puts it over the top and it’s so much my taste. I realize I’m watching this like 7 months after you posted it but you wanted tips on coloring the TH paper dolls and photos and I just happened to watch a few TH-cam videos from one of Tim’s makers on his website. Her name is Nathia Sligh and her channel is under Juicy Christians Studio. You can also find her under Tim’s website under makers. I didn’t know if it’s ok to post a link to her video so I’m just telling you this information. The title on her actual video is How to color your Tim Holtz paper dolls, portraits, and vintage photo booth portraits. It’s a two-part video and oh my she is awesome at demonstrating several ways to color them with several different mediums. I adore her channel and I hope this might give you some ideas if you’re still needing them. Thanks for this awesome video too and take care!

Hi Belinda, thank you so much for the suggestion. I’ll definitely look her channel up. I haven’t tried coloring them just yet. Maybe after watching her videos I’ll give it a try. Thanks again for the tip and thanks for watching

I use 3 coats of Finnabair clear gesso on my paper dolls and any surface that is shiny. Then you can add distress inks to colorize. For pink cheeks, I use worn lipstick & a q-tip to blend.

Hi Sally..I have some distress crayons that I completely forgot that I bought. I’ll have to look up one of his videos on how to use them. Thanks so much for the tip!

Love this. But, I have to say this. And I mean no disrespect, because everyone does it.
But it drives me NUTS when everyone chooses a really pretty patterned paper and then completely covers it up with other things so you don't even see the original gorgeous paper.
Why do we do this? Guess it's just a quirk with me.
Again, no disrespect, just an observation. Thank you for the beautiful inspiration.

Hi Kris! I know what you mean. I was like that for a long time. Especially with my Tim Holtz paper but found that I was just hoarding it because it was too pretty to use. Eventually I’m getting around to actually using the paper I have in my stash and try to create something equally beautiful. Thanks for watching 🤍
