Here's the really bad news - CG "can't" nerf this. If they do, it sets a precedent that they can bait you into whaling on something that they end up nerfing after you pay. They're not going to abuse their whales that way. They MIGHT learn from this (lol) and not make future whalecrons so strong, but I don't see this cron changing any time soon.
Here's the thing, the other whale crowns were okay. Pretty broken but "balanced" by the fact that their idealized teams didn't exist. Night trooper, Pad obi, were released first with no existing viability without their datacron and then got a small time near the end with their idealized team beating GLs. This time they gave us a broken cron with the completion of the team so we get to spend 2 months with this. All that to say I don't think power level is what they're going to change in the future because it's not necessarily the problem.
Well the great sister were an elite marque or whatever they called it, they are supposed to have journey guide level power but coming as a marque so they are supposed to be OP
They've nerfed some datacrons in the past. Also, most likely Baylan will have a datacron that counters Great Mothers as CG's way of "balancing" the problem they made.
I feel that this games Achilles' Heel is that this point, its abilities stacked on abilities stacked on abilities. All teams now grant all buffs, inflict all debuffs, and in general just does everything with few if any trade offs. At this point its not much stratedy, but just trying to out buff/debuff the enemy team.
This is definitely the most powerful thing we've ever seen. There has never been a team with this few counters. (I think JMK was close but not quite as good.)
And the craziest part about it, is that JMK is a Galactic Legend with expensive requironments, whilst Great Mothers' team is just 2 marquees and 3 legacy characters!

I would still prefer Nightsister acolyte over Merrin or death trooper (Peridea) because of the constant stealth she bakes in for recovery on great mothers and then her hitting very hard over time with her specials. Talia although not useful, could be something because she’s the only one that cleanse debuffs on her team no matter what in case this team faces against enemy leaders that are dark side which the great mothers can’t cleanse and giving tm to everyone as well.
The thing that sucks about Talia is that her debuff cleanse has a cooldown of 4, and somehow she gets aggressively targeted, though the AI targeting the sisters overall is rather funky. I've had JMK target Initiate often, even though Initiate is literally the most useless member in the lineup
My guess is some new team or new units will be coming out that have protection disruption immunity or provide it to the whole team and that will be the solution to the great mothers

I said this the day you tested them. GM is absolutely awful for the health of the game and the meta. The whale dc isn’t even the problem here. GM w/o dc are destroying basically everything in the game with 2 marquees and garbage.
The game is just stale and stuck in pay to play mode. They keep adding new toons (which is good) but the content needs to balance it out. The 1 week tb and then 2 tws is repetitive and getting extremely boring.
The game isn’t built for free to play. If whales don’t whale then the game goes away. Tired of all the free to play whiners. I am free to play and just do what I can and enjoy it.

I do admit the exclusive DCs have been a bit much, our last TW was decided by GM and the DC - they had 26 or so, we had 6 so we lose. Been playing for 6 years and I am not logging in as much as I used to, have dropped to Kyber 3 (12+M with everything) and have been contemplating hanging it all up. If the next set looks like the last one with all the healer, attacker, support stuff I am gone!
How about a bounty hunter deck? Surely Mando would use 'Desintegrate' to one shot Great Mothers. Jango is Immune to damage for 2 turns so thats huge. Bossk can tank them all up. Boba fett's missle easily one shots Morgan due to the lots of buffs she give to herself. Greef Karga can just use ,Bring them on cold' if a night sister is close to death that way your team would get so much buffs. The goal is to have your payouts and you'll eventually defeat this new night sister deck.

I feel my take would be the same as everyone else here....but I'm also not the one that has to fight against these Great Mother datacrons consistently. Even in mid-Kyber, majority of my opponents are like me, not whaling for this stuff. Ironically, the people paying the most are the ones that are playing against others that are paying the most.

I'll second that. I'm a returning player and it is unfortunate I didn't know before I got back deep in. Wasted quite a few resources and bought some lower cost bundles I could have avoided. It gives you characters to 80 and not the resources, so any character/ship shards collected are wasted. If you are going to do it best to do it early or avoid farming/collecting any thing that will be set to 80.
Taking on a Great Mother's team today on 5v5 GAC & I stupidly put Moff Gideon on Defense with his great Cron & now I have pray that this SLKR team can beat them, with the KRU lead & attacker cron. They have a JUICED G MOM CRON too. Not looking forward to this. 😮
I managed to beat someone in GA with this Datacron, by ignoring the team lol. Thankfully he got blocked by one of my GL's and I pinched enough banners to squeeze out a win. Every battle recently has been against whales or accounts much bigger than my own. This new Datacron concept is ridiculous.
10m gp average player and I have just given up with game. Now Log in once a week maybe. Not played conquest for the last 5 or 6 turns. The games not fun anymore and lost its spark. More of a chore than a game. Games slowly been dying since the burn out of conquest and datacrons.

Yea it is problem what game is running as long as this one. If you want to make new chars appealing you need them to do more, which stacks a lot.

Merrin is better, the video proves it. Take out Merrin, and the team opens a lot more counters.
