Love Catherine Ryan Howard, her best novel is The Nothing Man, it’s dark, it’s the kind of book you need to keep reading. Glad you enjoyed Run Time!

Congrats on the reads! 🥳 I’ve only read one book so far for December and think that’s all I’ll get through 😅
The cover of Run Time is very eye catching.

Hey, that’s better than nothing! I feel like we tend to place so much pressure on ourselves (at least I do). Most normal people barely get time to read anything lol

@@mandysmorgueofhorror So very true, it's always the advice we give out that's the hardest to follow ourselves haha.

You should try Nothing Man by Catherine Ryan Howard. The narrative is so unique, I've never read anything like it. It's about a killer and he's so intense and scary. I loved it. Happy Holidays! 🤶

The Vessel was pretty good and definitely cinematic and the ending was very satisfying. Adam Nevill is hit or miss for me. I recommend his books House of Long Shadows and Banquet for the Damned. And if you loved The Vessel you would probably also really enjoy his book Cunning Folk.

I’ve heard mixed things about his work, but I really do want to check out more!

Adam Nevill is so good. I’ve yet to read The Vessel but Last Days and No One Gets Out Alive were very creepy.

The Circle sounds interesting. I enjoy those anthology horror stories that overlap like that.

As you were describing Run Time, I ordered a copy and added Rewind to my wishlist. I have a copy of The Vessel thanks to Night Worms but I haven't started it yet. I'm currently re-reading The Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix for the holiday season. More fantasy than horror but it deals with necromancers and lots of raising of the dead so it straddles the line a bit. Recommended if you like really good darkish fantasy. Hope your holidays are going well! Thanks for the book recs :)

I loved The Vessel! It was my first Adam Nevill also, and I can't wait to get into his other stuff. I'm thinking about focusing on his and Darcy Coates's backlists next year, that could be fun!

So, I read Reception a couple of months back. I was actually really disappointed by it. I found the characters and writing to be lackluster. I thought SO many of the elements could have been done better. I finished it, and felt let down by the end. I probably won’t be picking up any more of this writer’s work.

Bentley Little never writes anything "normal." He's a lot of fun. Try The House or Dominion or The Ignored; those are old school Little.

    "Some cannibals show up."
Don't you just hate it when this happens.
    So inconsiderate.
