For beauty of voice, smoothness, evenness of sound, projection and volume as spinto soprano Ms Tebaldi will always be on anybody’s short list. For acting skills and high notes it will have to be someone else.

I fell in love with Tebaldi as a toddler, listening to her recordings as my Italian grandfather played them. It has been a lifelong love affair, and I am envious of anybody who had the opportunity to hear this great voice in person. I have heard it was an equally beautiful and huge sound even in the Met. ❤❤❤

Fortunately I heard Renata at the old Met. in the 1950's. Those years were "Tebaldi at her best". Incredible sound.
