I really like his approach "I don't belive in luck" I complely agree, luck is something that happens once here or there, long lived success is all down to hard work and dedication.
Not totally sure the purpose of the interview... the subject comes off as extremely one dimensional... not having too much of interest outside of motorsport, of making cars go round and round. It is clear from this discussion that he has recognised that there is a world outside of motorsport, but also that he doesnt seem to have immersed himself in it. Sporting success brings an incredible high that would not be replicated in anything else he does.. hope he is ready for that transition...
Jamie Whincup... Hmm not a fan. Why? Because of course I back Mark Winterbottom one of his biggest rivals in present times. But I respected the way he drove his 2012 car, whilst there's no doubt it was the best, most developed car on the grid, I truly believe the way he drove in 2012 was the best he ever has... And maybe the best he ever will, he cleaned up bathurst, the championship, race 1 of Gold Coast and nearly won sandown 500. And had the most race wins.. 12 I think. One thing I dislike about him is his bad attitude to losing. Saying that they basically gave DJR the championship is bullshit. And how he was saying that in 2012 it was his championship from the get go. But however they could decide to 'give' to someone else... How cocky and arrogant can you get? But overall I respect his talent and ability in a race car.
