Even just 8-horse field, this was the Best of the 14 Breeders Cups races.
Possibly the best race I’ve ever seen. Malathaat finally gets her long-deserved championship.
She's already a Champion...she won the Eclipse for Champion Three-year Filly, and will likely win Champion Older Mare.
About to be double champion. I believe eclipse awards this month
This was probably the greatest Distaff of all time. I mean, who can beat a 3-horse photo finish?
Nothing will beat 2016 Songbird vs Beholder. Something like 8 Eclipse Awards combined in that race.
Idk 1988 breeders cup distaff is pretty good too. The distaff always seems to be the race of the day. Mostly because the classic is usually favoring 1 horse.
@@bearinpinkk5072 Agreed. I think its because the breeding industry siphons quality stallions off faster than fillies and mares.

It's all personal preference but nothing beats songbird vs beholder for me

Secret Oath will race in 2023 b/c of her great performance. So nice to keep seeing these guys. Sadly, Malataat will be retured.
Malathaat is 4 and for all she has accomplished, has earned her retirement. Better to retire when she's at the top of her game and sound, rather than wait and risk an injury further down the line that may hurt her value as a broodmare
Secret Oath was done before the quarter pole…she would not switch leads in the stretch and looked exhausted. Nest ran her best race of the year in the Belmont Stakes and peaked….the only place to go after peaking is down. I knew she would not run like she did at Saratoga.

I was hoping for a 1-2 finish for Pletcher, but Malathaat was my top pick, and glad she got up in time. She wrapped up another championship season. I would love if she returns as a 5yo, bcuz she's only getting better
She is retired. But what a filly. Right there with Rags to Riches and Ashado among best Todd has had. Malathaat was incredible. Kentucky oaks last year and distaff this year two huge stand alone races. 6 grade ones and never out the money. Will retire a double champ. Next year Nest will get it done

Yesterday, I was so fervently rooting for Blue Stripe that I almost lost my voice! She was on my picks three, four, five and all exotics! Big fan of HIB did a great job! 🤑 I think she didn't break well?
Nope she broke perfect and saved every ounce of ground. She was my best bet of the day I was screaming my voice horse that day cheering her in thought she had it :(

Brutal ride by Ortiz on Nest, 5 wide 5 wide! He's a hack and very overrated!
I agree about this ride-Wide and then caught between horses.
I agree with the ride. But I will say that Monomoy Girl in 2020 I believe was like 3 to 4 wide on both turns and throughout almost the whole race. So it's not like it's impossible to win in this race when you are wide if you are the best horse in the race. Still a bad ride though I have to agree.
What was he supposed to do? He didn't really have a choice bc the slow pace was causing the pace setters to back up into him and there was like four other horses going for the lead at the same time that he was, so he kind've didn't have a choice

At the time, Nest was a 3 year old, and got beat less than 2 lengths. Since she’s also a Curlin filly, her 4 year old season may be her best

I have been telling you Nest is overrated. I'm right again. Nest never beat anybody !!!
She certainly one of the best female horses in the game right now. She's won 7 of her 10 races so far. She got second in the Belmont, which is pretty impressive honestly, and she got forth here. Maybe a bit overrated, but she certainly not a bad racer.
Uh... the only ones that beat here here were all older than her, one of which is the top older dirt female in the country right now. And Idk, placing 2nd in the Belmont Stakes seems like a pretty big accomplishment to me, and she completely buried the KY Oaks winner Secret Oath in both their starts at Saratoga
