Remind guys to be careful breaking the bead for tyres fitted with tyre pressure sensor, and if possible its good to change the valves too when new tyres are fitted for those with no sensors
he didn’t replace the valve no, he replaced the stem, which you do for TPMS kits, but you gotta replace the whole rubber stem if it has one. They get cracked and worn very quickly.

Hey PiPs, truly an EXCELLENT tutorial on tire change-out procedures. A couple of pertinent questions for you fella' ? I recently purchased a set of tires (ie; Michelin) from my local Costco. They inflate all new tire purchases with Nitrogen gas. The claim is nitrogen is more stable than air meaning heavier molecules thereby maintaining air pressure specs much longer. This in turn plays a significant role in extending tire life and safety. Is this just a selling feature or does nitrogen BENEFIT the tire's longevity ?!? As a NASCAR fan I know this has been used in race cars for quite some time. Can you confirm or refute whether this inflation gas makes a significant difference in your opinion ?!? Keep ^Up^ The Great Content Yo !!!
Thanks John, basically the tech they learn in racing trickles down to us. I believe it has benefits but I have never tried it my self. We just got a nitro machine, so I may try it on the M4.

Michelin ice x 2 should have been ice x 3 according to my research before buying. They gave me $100 off. I think the car manufacturers, like my explorer at least, says not to use tires that are six years old and that’s the shelf life or something to that effect. The owners manual mentions this. I don’t remember the exact quote
Cool. Because of a video you did explaining how you get paid (book time) when I recently had Ford swap out my Coyote Engine, i asked the guy if the tech was paid hourly or book time. This way I knew if the tech was making out or not. Turns out it was book time and he spent more time on the engine then the book called for... so that sucked :(

Discount Tire always gives the tpms rebuilds for free. The reason behind it is if the metal components are not replaced, over time corrosion builds up and it can cause a leak. They also replace the valve stem and not just the valve core to ensure every thing mounted on the rim is new. Replacing the valve core isn’t recommended because if installed incorrectly, it may leak.

Why would you clamp the rim from the inside when you have a rim/clamp machine. You’re intentionally scratching the inner barrel of the wheel. You are lucky customers can’t see that service because you would owe them a new OE rim if they complained. I don’t get it bro.
You are right but 25 years in the business, I have seen someone clamp the outside maybe twice. It’s easier and more efficient clamping the inside and I have never had a complaint.

The ‘18s seem to be have more issues. I can’t say I have seen any ‘15s with noise issues. Just change your oil and air filter when needed and you should be fine.

One problem, the date code isn’t the last 3 numbers. The dot code ending in 3718 means the tire was made in the 37th week of 2018, not 7-18 as you said.
I noticed another thing with these date codes. Is it actually a thing to put it on the inside if it’s not a tire that specifies “outside”. Maybe it’s just around my area, but it seems they put the code on the inside on purpose to hide it since it’s only on one side
Guys, I cant find an answer anywhere. My front right tire on my Ford Explorer '04 makes a howling/crying noise during it's roll at low speeds (under 20mph). It'll roll maybe 3/4 of a full roll then the last 1/4 of the roll I hear the howling/crying noise. What is this? I'm so confused cause I've never heard bearings make a noise like that or hear joints howl.

Shoulda clamped it on the outside part of the wheel. You’ll cause damage to the inside clamping it like that

Good tips! When you are removing or installing wheels you want your arms to be straight out to prevent any back strain.

Are you prying the lip over the rim.... using the rim? Looks like that’s how rims are damaged when installing new tires.
The machine and pry bar have plastic on them to protect the rim.

Depending on the style of wheel lock, I have a set of turbo twist sockets that can usually get them off, then I replace them with regular lug nuts.

yes, about 1 in every 20 I get lucky.
When dismounting tires you need to make sure you don’t break valve stem.. you didn’t have it in the right position.. lucky you didn’t break it

Rub you hand across the tread of the tire, if its not smooth, you have uneven tire wear. That can cause a howling noise.

It is the 37th week and yellow is the lightest part of the tire.
Do you mostly deal with normal street tires or do you deal with a variety of tires?
Mostly street but some off-road and race tires, I also do my own dirt bike and street bike tires.

Defiantly, mostly because of the weight and size.

I have had good luck with Nitto but no Toyo experience.
