I was baptized at the First Baptist Church when I was eight years old in 1958. A year or so later we left that church with several hundred others who dedicated to start another church. No one voted Rev. Hyles in as pastor. My mother who was superintendent of the Sunday school department told me that the Baptist hierarchy had sent Rev. Miller away because they said he was too intellectual and wasn’t bringing in enough money to the church. I’m glad my introduction to religion was under Rev. Miller because he was all about love. Then we get this person from Texas who does the old hellfire and damnation scare the money out of peoples pockets technique. But the reason people left was because Hyles wanted the financial books moved into his office when these book had always been handled in the deacons office. Also he wanted to handpick the deacons where the congregation had always voted on the deacons. When several hundred of the congregation met with Hyles in the sanctuary to voice their objections he told them to bad if you don’t like it you can leave. So they did. I was heartbroken when the church in which I was baptized burned down. At the time I wondered if the building was insured and for how much. And from this video I learn the fire was arson. So I guess the person to ask would be Jack Hyles. After all, all the financial books were in his office.
That information is known to you. I respect Bro Hyles to this date. His Ministry and dedication to God's work helped so much in my Christian walk with God. That's my testimony... I'm in South Africa and and have never in Hammond yet.
Bro Jack Hyles is the reason I lost my faith in religion and God for the longest time. As a child I attended FBCH road on bus B52. At a young age I committed my life to that church and was on a path to becoming a preacher as well. Well until one day I took my mother with me and the opening sirmen was about people with HIV and AIDS and how people that have it are nothing more than the children of satan all deserve to burn in hell. Having to hear this at such a young age and knowing he was talking about my mother at that time shook me to my core. It was funny watching him struggle to answer my questions regarding why people that have this illness deserve to burn in hell. Saying if i wanted to talk to him more about i can come up to his office after church to discuss it. Then being told i had to leave with my mother because we were questioning the word of God and being direspectful made me laugh. To this day i can never forgive that man and what he did that day. How he condemned people and took away my faith. All he did was leave me with a question that day. If God is so forgiving and loves all of his children then how can God pump so much hate into one persons heart to speak on people like that and use false doctrines to justify what he was saying. So in other words i hope he is burning in a not so nice place now.
I feel your pain my friend. We attended for years. My parents were involved in the SEX RING that occured in that church. Then one day we mysteriously stopped going. The damage had been done,totally irreversible and my family is destroyed.Because of JACKIE BOY HYLES and his fun house my family is as dysfunctional as you can possibly imagine.
