    Hope you don't release all your fish like that, threat the fish with some respect and make sure they survive.

      Well my thinking is that there were quite a lot of thick reads close in, and if I put the fish in gently into the water by the reeds, it would become stuck in the reeds which is not ideal. So I kept the "out of water time" to a minimum and lobbed it gently into clear water. I've seen trout jump 1m out of water and land in the water like it's nothing so a 30-40cm gentle throw into water can't harm it. That's my thinking anyway.
