You say that as if it's a good thing that models weren't able to speak up for themselves without backlash back then. It's good that we are in a time where models and artists can build a career that isn't solely on the backs of famous people or big machines. I don't know the in and outs of her life so I can't say what the show has or hasn't done for her but I'm glad that we are in a time where you can speak your mind and still have a career the next day.

I hate when people discredit Top Model. The show hasn’t produced a “super model”, but it has produced loads of working models. There are girls that had no experience before the show, that are still working years after their season aired.

Antm is a stepping stone for the contestants. It gets your name out there. After the show, it’s your responsibility to work hard and get your name out there. That goes for any reality show. Winnie possibly could have become famous by herself but Antm helped speed up that process. It helped her build her platform. Whether she likes it or not Antm helped start her career but she made herself even bigger by working hard after the show.

But it is a Reality Show.... And most of the girls in there don't "make it" once the show is over. The ladies have to still do the work when the show is over. We never even see Tyra with any of the girls once the show is over because...... ITS A COMPETITION REALITY SHOW

You can’t book your own gigs and whatnot. You can’t do this or that show, unless THEY approve and hen THEY want all the money from it.
Actually most of them do make it. Just because they are not on TV doesn't mean they are not working....because they have honed their craft of the show and got exposer.

The only models who really became top models are Winnie and Leila Goldkuhl, who both never used their appearance to the show to get there! Unlike other contestants who put their ANTM appearances on their profile, they just became famous Instagram models but not really top models, who works for big brands and walking for fashion weeks (Mila, Paris, New York, London). The only models I always see on FashionTV are Winnie and Leila, walking alongside Naomi, Gigi, Kendall etc. Now that's top models

The only reason why she's a model is because she has vitiligo and Tyra is always looking for gimmicks on her show. Sounds harsh but true. I first saw her on ANTM, and while that may have not directly been what made her famous, the tv exposure is what gave her all these amazing opportunities. I see all these girls complain about ANTM, and while I do think Adrianne Curry was robbed, most should be grateful they even had this opportunity.
The fact winnie's interview video from 6 months ago has 97k views and Tyra's interview video from 5 days ago has 146k views says it all.

Eva Pigford who goes by Eva Marcelle these days was on a few sitcoms and is now on Atlanta Housewives, but she does still model. Yaya DeCosta who was the runner-up to Eva continued to model, was in a couple movies and is now on a top rated tv drama, "Chicago Med", Tocarra was a host on VH1 or MTV for quite some time and was on a few tv shows and still models for Ashley Stewart, etc. as well to name a few.
She taught them what and how to work their magic, gave them an opportunity of a lifetime and then it’s up to them to keep it going...it’s not up to her to keep them motivated...people can choose to continue moving forward with their passions at the best of their ability or not, and it’s not up to nor to blame someone as spectacular as Tyra Banks for their own choices after the show has finished. To the person who says ANTM was purely entertainment..... It wasn't made solely for entertainment purposes. That is the marketing effect but the real purpose, what tyra made the show for, is to train these young girls and achieve a world dream. She wishes to expand the image of beauty around the world and this has happened and is still happening. Tyra has used her position of power for something good, and of course there will be some bad things where there are good, but the bad will never outshine the good if we know what we stand for and Tyra always stood for the purpose she created the show. A reason her show was the best modelling reality show over all those other fashionable ones is because there was so much more depth to it. The drama only adds to the story but that is not the overall big picture. It all really is a test to see who really can focus on the end prize during every drama and any situation, because then that person, in the high fashion industry, looks most deserving. Why would they pay so many ridiculously expensive professionals to waste their time for just 1 tv show? It is Real Business they were doing, to serve and nurture Real Talent. Any contestant who made it onto the show and is not greatful for the opportunity despite the drama or any faults from the staff is not made for the industry. You have to see the bigger picture.

The show is a platform for the "upcoming" models but it isn't guaranteed to give anyone a career. It is up to the models to do that themselves.
Her point was that the show doesn't do anything for MODELS.. All it usually does is make the girls recognizable to an audience, but that doesn't do anything in the fashion world. ANTM is a reality show. How many successful high fashion models have come out of it? Winnie def got exposure to the masses from the show and should be grateful for that, but the reason she's successful is bc of her look.

Yeah, I always thought Tyra was loyal and defended the models whom appeared and competed on ANTM. Like when Eugena (Cycle 7) during her interview called the previous cycle models "generic", and a few other things, eventually Tyra mentioned to Eugena, due to her lackluster modeling in some challenges, how she was no where near some of the (past) models. ..."nowhere near them..."

An opinion I would've kept to myself 😁 wether that statement was true or not , you do NOT bite the hand that feeds you sis . I only know you because you were on ANTM. It did seem reality show-ish but let's not pretend like this show didn't make stars or at least make yall recognizable to the world . Take YaYa Decosta for instance . She was on the show and went on to acting and doing movies . Being on tv gives you "cred ". I don't care if I was on the show for 5 minutes , as a girl from a small town it would definitely help me . I'm glad Tyra took the mature route and still showed love because that was out if pocket .

Winnie isn’t alone in this, a lot of the contestants were given bad wraps from the show and couldn’t even pursue a career afterwords since the show has a bad reputation in the fashion world. The show/Tyra exploits the model’s mental health and insecurities

Let’s not pretend that there isn’t a ton of shady things about ANTM, their casting, and how they treat, rather mistreat, their contestants? It’s not your lived experience, nor is it mine either, but y’all are passing judgements when you don’t know both sides of the story.
I learned of Winnie first in a clip of ANTM, but I would have noticed her wherever, I'll just leave it at that.

Winnie wouldn't be where she is now without the exposure the show gave her. However, Winnie didn't say anything that other models such as the legendary Paulina Porizkova haven't said before. The show is more about entertainment purposes instead of actually giving models the tools necessary to actually become a top model in the industry. The american franchise, even though it has so many seasons, only produced a handful of top models and many don't even stay in the industry for long.
