I was about to give you a "Like" but then you started singing. I just can't, no, no, no. Not for that, but I do think it will frighten the Orcas, and everything else. Edit:
I’ve never seen a video like this! But I’ll keep it in mind if I ever go sailing or try to frighten off Sasquatch, he probably wouldn’t like it either. Innovative..
Nice to see and hear Cliff Richard sing again, though it was a Rod Steward song he chose. I really thought that he was living somewhere ashore abusing some indigenous children on Virgin Islands.
Well that explains the sudden appearance of so many Orca pods around the British coastline, think I wont bother sailing the western med this year. And I though I was tuneless, you sir have me beat , my hat is off to you.I was thinking of doing something similar but different using recordings of women singers with beautiful Ethereal tones.never occurred to me to pull a Panama on them.
I think that's why they may be attacking your boat. The don't want to hurt you, they just don't want you to talk on the PA or sing. It's a known fact that they like the Roger Whittiker song, The last Farewell. Or anything by Christopher Cross. Thank you. -The Orca
LOL, different! I have just subscribed, who knows what we will find here. If you arrive in port with the rudder intact we may one day see an ocean talent quest ;)
oh lord i would neeed to be blacked out drunk with that voice. just joshing. thank you for looking for peaceful ways to steer away these creatures. im 18 now hopefully by 19 ill be crossing from Connecticut to Azores.
@@atlantical1 just a theory. some sonar frequencies are low enough for orcas to hear (like CHIRP). It basically tells them where you are and either they just wanna play or it pisses them off. Cheers mate!
Yesterday I discussed this issue with a brother of mine who is an experienced fisherman and he told me that, based in his experience with dolphins, the first thing to do is to turn off the depth sounder, it seems that they perceive the ultrasound ping as a threat and start escorting the boat as a territorial defence action, not for playing as his commonly understood. If that don't work try to fire some relatively powerfull laser into de water, almost certainly it will scared them (obviously, with such big and dangerous animals beware of unpredictable reactions). Hope it helps.
I dont know, but I think the Orcas will want to sink your boat, just to shut you up, You could always wait until the Orcas show up before you try singing them to sleep.
Cockpit karaoke. Fair dues. Had similar idea with a submarine speaker. Just a warning to note Patrick Laine and the sailing Frenchman (Hugh Picard) had a piece of music that seemed to lure dolphins and whales to their boats some artist beginning with an R if memory serves just check before playing that.
I asked about this last year. I bet online somewhere there are orca noises, there might be a noise they make for danger or to avoid...play that sound, lmk what happens.
Yes, a scientist who specialises in orcas said that the sound of a pilot whale is what they run away from. So that’s the official advice. We thought that feedback from a microphone would be very unpleasant to any living creature and that’s what we’ll use if we encounter them. And we will try our singing too 😀. What sounds do you think would repel them?
@@atlantical1 I have no idea. I know they study whales and they have "language", seems reasonable some researcher would have a recording of their "danger" noise. It almost looks like the are using the rudders as a scratching post like a cat sometimes.
Absolutely agree with you, yeah that’s exactly what we thought that they need to scratch off parasites and we thought to scrub their backs with a brush 😄. Here’s the video of the scientist Philippe who I contacted in comments. th-cam.com/video/U3u1VkTbWtw/w-d-xo.html
I'm surprised the Orca Sea Patrol didn't give you an excessive noise violation...smiles n chuckles... I'm sure that some sort of music might get them to play along side while you pass through..perhaps playing a different musical instrument...
On the VHF I’m listening to calls reporting orca sightings. It’s kind of tense particularly while it’s still dark. I can’t wait for the morning. Another 2 hours before sunrise ☀️
Lol 😂 it’s Scottish. Don’t worry most English speaking countries don’t understand Scottish and I struggle a lot when Al speaks. I don’t hear 20-30 % of what he says the first time and he has to repeat it several times. He thinks I’m going deaf. Tried to explain that I struggle to understand Scottish and he doesn’t get it what’s so difficult to understand.
I agree, Mozart is my favourite composer and I believe that all living beings have the same consciousness. The only problem is I’ve heard that they pick up sounds only from the water and not from the air. We’ll see.
😂😂🤣. No because we love animals and we don’t want to be nasty to them. Your idea is funny though because it’s the most direct approach humanity has known 🤣😂🤣
