Just follow a mobalytics guide and go for top 4 every time. Just do whatever it takes to stay alive. You don't have to win, you just need to outlive everyone else. That's how I got Masters while watching anime.
He doesn't show up in astral shops at a higher rate instead he has a 30% chance to be in the astral orbs once everything else is maxed, so you aren't actually spending gold on the asols usually, just rolling a bunch.

Sol is not the same without mage emblem - the only cases I ever used him was when I had that :). I mean if you get 3star it does not matter, but you usually dont get him to 3 star and then it makes big diff.
