  • Brake fluid is hydroscopic and collects moisture and should be replaced annually or every second year at leas to prevent corrosion of the brake system. Brake fluid is lubricant for the brake hydraulics parts and also its boiling point changes as moisture collects to fluid which may change braking performance. Avoid spilling fluid on painted surfaces as it may destroy them, use protective sheets and wipe off spill if it happens. Use Dot 3 or 4 fluid . Fluid may even drain thru tubing if you just open the valve on the brake caliper and simultaneously you add fluid into the reservoir. Some procedures may use pressurized filling device or vacuum based sucking device to get new fluid thru the hydraulic system. In this procedure we used pressure caused by bikes own brake main cylinder.
Aim of this work is to get all fluid replaced in the reservoir, work cylinder, tubing and in the brake caliber.

Good, its nice area. We were there years ago doing skiing, so it was snowy winter time, not good for motorcycle. Would be great to visit once again by motorbike.

Thanks for the video! Question, are the two holes actually holes one of mine is a hold and the other is just a indent in the cylinder. I can't get my brakes to bleed :( I installed new cylinder hardware but it didn't work. I only had small bubbles when priming the cylinder not like yours at all... I'm getting a hose too, it's a 95 535 and it fell and roughed up the edge of the cylinder some so I got a new cover but the cylinder top isn't square either it got roughed up to but I figured and it looked liked the new cover and diaphragm covered it good. Idk I even clean the caliper and shims afterwards the bores went in easy with c-clamp. Ughhhh help!!! I thought I did the overhaul of the cylinder right but still nothing even when I open the bleeder valve and press handle no break fluid leaves reservoir :(

what break fluid you have used? Dot 4? and how much of break fluid does the bike takes? 1litre or more:)? just need to know how much to buy

      Hi
Brake fluid requirement is printed on fluid reservoir cover. Buy small bottle from shop selling it for bike use also, here I would go to Biltema or Motonet to get small bottle as you basically cannot store it for long time as it collects moisture from the air. Amount you need depends how much you flush via system and how much you spill :-). Amount you need is very low, buy 0.5 liters or smaller bottle, you use just small amount of that. Here 0.5 liters bottle cost

+Jarmo Jarvinen (Jamppa535) dot 4 should be ok. Dot 3 and dot 4 are pretty similar, but dot 5 is different.

Take a look how much there is wear on pads, if they are in bad shape, replase. If you have not replaced fluid in two years then it is better to replace that too.
