For $128, nothing should break or disintegrate no matter what. I’d rather have durability than a funky construction. And it would be great if their shadows were interchangeable so you could make custom palettes with mattes . . . Especially for travel. I did buy it, but you are right, the brand needs to do some overall pre-planning before the next launch.
I am not even through, but WOW I also was soo certain when I saw this that the groundworks pans would fit in there. I have none of the three palettes and no desire to get them but my god what a missed opportunity lol.
I really needed this, thank you so much! I was never really interested in the DM Lightworks because I own many indie multichromes, but this one almost got me. I love customizable palettes and everyone got me convinced that this is so innovative but you are right with all of your points. Your videos are always helpful and I didn‘t skip the ads to support you ❤
Nobody I would trust more to talk about this than our multichrome queen Milly ❤ thank you so much for sharing your opinions. Your looks were beautiful and well I can definitely say this is gonna be another pass for me. I still haven’t written off trying her multichromes or other products but I already have so many from indie brands that I love. Plus I hardly ever use satin eyeshadow, but I agree with your points on the packaging. I definitely wish that they had been broken up. I probably would’ve bought a 6 pan if I had the option to or especially if I could’ve chosen my own eyeshadows, those iridescents do look beautiful. I also liked hearing your descriptions of them versus what the brand had to say haha. You always know your shit when it comes to shifts, shine, texture and sparkly shadow anything so I always appreciate getting to see your content on different products out there. You’ve never steered me wrong. I definitely want to try the brand sometime, maybe I’ll start small with a thing of chrome flakes. Been wanting the bi pride shade for forever now haha, that one’s perfect for me! But for now I’ll skip the big palettes. Would love to have tried some of the older ones but I was too broke back then haha. Thank you again for always giving us such helpful, real and informative content! I admire you so much, and you’re such an inspiration. I have so many of your looks screenshotted on my phone lmao! ❤❤❤
My friend bought it, and we were AGHAST that the Groundworks pans do not fit! Just whyyyyyy Danessa, why??? I have touched the satins and I hate them, I hate them so much 😂 They are complete opposite of everything I want from a satin: I want lightweight delicate pearlescent satins that glide effortlessly like mattes on a set primer. The mini stacked palettes is a great idea, and I really hope she comes out with singles or more sets. Otherwise, it feels very pointless.
Thank you so much for your thorough comparisons and detailed pros and cons. I ordered from DMB directly and should have mine before the end on this week. I truly hope that the shadows make it to Australia without cracking or damage. It's great to know that Viseart pans almost fit, is that the Pro size and the Etendu (same dimensions as Pro but 1.2g of product)? Many thanks❤️
I think it's stunning and everything about it is great Yes you can't fit her groundwork pans in the smaller ones but they are magnetized and you can pop them out and put them in the large palette this came with so if you want to do that you can you just can't have it in a small compact size It has to go in the bigger pellet those came in but still can be done! 💜
Jarmila, thank you so much for your video! I have been waiting for your thoughts on this palette since it came out (and since I found your channel). Do you know if Clionadh stained glass (rectangle) pans fit into the DM slots? 🌷
Thank you so much for taking time to find comparisons! I see I have a lot of similar shades and can easily add the ones I need from Odens Eye for a smaller amount than purchasing this large palette as I am only interested in one of the 6 pans :-D Great job!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this palette. I had a feeling some of the descriptions were off because I couldn’t tell the shift from swatches shared by the brand and everyone I had seen discuss it has brought up the packaging and not the claims. I ordered last year’s palette through Beauty Bay so hoping I enjoy that one 🤞
Definitely the most reliable video on TH-cam for this palette as you KNOW other indie brands and have great comparisons. Love it milly. Will def not pick this up I got a baby on the way and SOOO many singles from indies 😂
Thank you for your honest review and I really do appreciate the hard work you put into it❤❤ you just save me money from not purchasing this pallet❤ and be safe everyone😊
Exactly, I did not buy it, because I was hoping to combine my groundwork with this Lightwork. Missed oportunity indeed. There should be a DIN norm for pan sizes😂 Thx for explaning and sharing your thoughts.
Thank you for the effort put in . I love your reviews I’m glad the shadows are smooth. Smoothest shadows I have come across are viseart. Never crease , no fall out and my eyelids look ridiculously smooth. None of the other brands do that for me. I have a very large I shadow collection
You made some excellent points! I have all the Lightworks palettes and wish at least one of them had shades that would fit into the Freedom palette. Why does the deepest eye shadow always fall and mess up the floor, never the light one. My Natasha Denona Biba palette the black shade is broken and a mess! Waiting for this to go on sale.
I definitely needed to see your video before I decided to see if I should buy this or not. Love your honest opinion Millie. I'm still on the fence about this palette but I only have 2-3 dupe shadows so this palette is worth it for me. Definitely waiting for a sale. 😊
Great video 👍👍 you always bring up some really good points and that is always appreciated ❤ I'd be so upset with a broken shadow especially at that price range. Thanks for sharing 💙💛❤💚💜
Thanks for your honest feedback. I will skip this palette as I was taken with the packaging initially but your insights have saved me from a useless impulse purchase.
Phenomenal video!!! In the future can you please make the text of the comparisons bigger (esp the brand name It is microscopic even when my phone is on full screen mode or number them maybe and put the list over to the left?
Palette looks cool and love the packaging. Already ordered Wish I didnt. After your swatches I don't need it. My Clionadh covers theses shades. Inglot has original Freedom System with different sized magnetic palettes and magnetic tops to mix and match with their eyeshadows, blushes, etc. Wonder if Danessa stopped by Inglot in Vegas and got the idea
Do the Clionadh singles fit in here? I've seen several people say it would be a very similar pan size but wonder if they're too thick. If so, you could swap with viseart too I believe? Sorry if I missed that in the video.
Yes Clionadh and Viseart fit but they are smaller than the DM pans, 20:52 I inserted a photo. If you want to stack the 3 palettes with Clionadh shades in it then it won’t be secure but if you keep the flat layout they should be fine as the big cover has some room
Which size Viseart shadows fit? The full size or entendu? I travel a lot so I love that it is stackable. (And somewhat customizable. ) I’m definitely going to wait for a sale….
I bought this on launch and I do love it but I keep mine in the arrangement sent with the color stories given because of continuity sake. I have the others so I like to stack them all together. This palette (to me) is one of her best because it has all the smooth shades. I don’t mind some flakes but I do agree I would liked to have seen a brown or copper brown shade in there too.
I just don’t like how there is 500 different kind of multichromes. Like. Seriously. Iridescent. Duochrome. Multichrome. Topper. Satin. That should be it. Seriously. I don’t grasp all these fancy named formulas when they all come across as - multichromes - to me 🤷🏼♀️
I was collecting the Danessa palettes, but this one put an end to that. If you could mix all the palettes, or even just the groundwork palettes, it'd be a hard maybe... But I'm not paying $128 for the size/shades in this palette. I have a ton of indie special shades (also made in China) that I can use to make my own palettes. I get the idea behind the concept, but I think this palette is going to be for a certain consumer or super fan of Danessa. At least, that's my thoughts on it. Great video, thanks for the comparisons!
But whats the gain in volume when you stack all of the palettes? The top/bottom covers? And yes, i own none of the groundwork palettes but it's so annoying those don't fit in there...
I bought last holiday's Lightworks Palette and do love it. However, i also have quite a few Indie brands multichrome eyeshadows, and I can get varying degrees of shifts either or. Problem is, at 65 y.o. my upper eyelids are STILL oily AF and my eyes have been ultra hooded since birth due to my being half Indigenous American. I'm not bashing on my race, but my struggles with eyeshadow melting into my crease is madness. The only "primers" that work at all for me are Nyx Glitter Glue (and their dc'd Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer worked beautifully, but that train left the station, so...) and oddly MAC Paint Pots. Not sure if these would work with this palette, though. Thank you for being so honest with your review and up front with the palette's issues that are problematic, Milly!
Thank you for the comparisons!! The only color that really tempted me was Nirvana, but I'd rather spend $14 on an Odin's Eye single shadow than a $128 for the full DM palette, especially when I have bought last year's Lightworks and have barley made a dent in it. I do love Danessa's formulas, but I just cant justifya full palette price again.
Thanks for the onest review! I agree that the whole system is flawed, what's the purpose in making this magnetic if I can't put anything else inside? Maybe they'll release singles to fit in the future? Bah, for this price point I don't know... For the broken shade, I would try to mix some binder instead of alcohol there. If it's crumbly the alcohol would dry it up even more, right? I'm not sure but I'd give it a try 😅
You brought up such valid points, it didn’t even occur to me that the groundwork pans might have fit the rectangular pans. Definitely frustrating. I still think Danessa did bring something unique in terms of packaging for a holiday launch. I would think with how expensive custom packaging like this is, that she will probably release more in this type of packaging but then again Danessa does a lot of custom packaging and it never sees the light of day after the initial launch…
it would be great if she came out with more of the big palettes, but empty. or even if she added the three stackable palettes inside, but kept the pans out so it would be 100% customizable and stackable at the same time
It's true what you say, we don't need these tones because we already have them... but we will always buy them... everything has already been invented...
For some reason, the first look shows up muddy :( perhaps you received a dud batch of shades, given that one of them came busted already. Thanks for the review, I'm definitely less excited for this palette now and glad that I won't do the effort to pay extra 90 USD for shipping 😂😂😂
I'm a sucker for build your own palettes, I was super tempted thinking the groundwork palettes would fit in the 6pan slots. Knowing they don't defeats the purpose for me so I'll be skipping it. Definitely a missed opportunity.
This was the first DM palette that caught my attention and I was considering it, but after this review I don't think I'll get it. I'm not in the USA and my local Sephora doesn't carry the brand, so it would be going blindly with the formula... it's a pass for me.
OMG. The blue shade seems so rough in your first look. Your look is nice. But with good shadows it would have been exceptional if you understand what I mean. You did a great job with the quality of that blue shadow.
So… I commend you bring up the fact you cannot truly customize the palette because I thought this would be like Inglot’s freedom system, in which you purchase the palette (different sized palettes hold different amount of shades whether it’s eyeshadow, lipstick, and/or blush). When I realized that wasn’t the case, I was also hoping I could purchase just one of their mini palette with that system and then build upon that as they released other color stories. Just like with Natasha Denona’s eye and cheek palette, I would have to wait until they release way more shades that I can truly customize those pans.
Colourpop is the same way- the shadows come out of their palettes, but the individual shadows they sell do not fit in their produced palettes (must put them in an empty palette).
I would have spoken or gotten in touch with her..and or customer service. It's sad that her palettes are sooo expensive. Not only her but a lot of high end artist

In my country this palette 168 euro
thank you for being so critical! it‘s rare on yt
Yes the only reviewer who pointed out these small details
I was waaaaaiting/hoping for your video on this one! 😂
The shifty, shiny, sparkly queen is gonna have the most reliable video 👏
I think honest review like this helps not only customers but also the artists to update/upgrade future pallets
So helpful! I was getting tempted by people but you really showed me I don’t need it
Thank you for pointing these things out, no one has mentioned this but they’re such valid thoughts! ❤
I am not even through, but WOW I also was soo certain when I saw this that the groundworks pans would fit in there. I have none of the three palettes and no desire to get them but my god what a missed opportunity lol.

I absolutely love your honesty. It makes me happy to hear the bad and the good.
Thank you for this thorough and honest review.❤ This is so rare nowadays! You gained a new follower!
Love the swatch comparisons. ❤ I didn't think there could be soo many especially for these kind of special shades. I.e; proud, release & serenity
My friend bought it, and we were AGHAST that the Groundworks pans do not fit! Just whyyyyyy Danessa, why???

I didn't realise the pans were a different size to the Groundwork pans. I feel like Danessa definitely missed a trick there.
Me too
💯

I have this palette and love it!
Mine literally arrived today..I just opened it. I'm grateful for your warnings!!
I was looking for this, I don't know why I didn't find it sooner, thanks!
I LOVED this video Milly. My favorite review you ever done. Great job!!!!
I've been looking forward to your review.
It's £142.50 at Sephora UK.
Should be arriving tomorrow 🤞.
Jarmila, thank you so much for your video! I have been waiting for your thoughts on this palette since it came out (and since I found your channel).
Do you know if Clionadh stained glass (rectangle) pans fit into the DM slots? 🌷
Ok you answered my question in the video! Wonderful ❤
thank you for showing the clionadh shade in the palette!
Thank you so much for taking time to find comparisons! I see I have a lot of similar shades and can easily add the ones I need from Odens Eye for a smaller amount than purchasing this large palette as I am only interested in one of the 6 pans :-D Great job!

This was a very detailed review and I loved all the comparisons. Than you so much
Thank u for the honesty! ❤I'm definitely passing in it
Thank you for your honest review and I really do appreciate the hard work you put into it❤❤ you just save me money from not purchasing this pallet❤ and be safe everyone😊
You are so welcome!
Thank so much for all of your insight on this palette! I appreciate all the work you do. As for the palette, it's a solid pass for me. 💖💖💖
Exactly, I did not buy it, because I was hoping to combine my groundwork with this Lightwork. Missed oportunity indeed. There should be a DIN norm for pan sizes😂
Thx for explaning and sharing your thoughts.
You can put the groundwork in the larger palette.
omg youre absolutely right
Thanks for your video and sharing your opinion. Are the shades very similar to the lightwork V? Or is it a good addition?
Thank you for the effort put in . I love your reviews
I’m glad the shadows are smooth.
Smoothest shadows I have come across are viseart. Never crease , no fall out and my eyelids look ridiculously smooth. None of the other brands do that for me. I have a very large I shadow collection
Regardless of the down sides, I do love the palette, I’m huge fan of chrome and sparkly colors. ❤
Really love how you say it as it is ❤
You made some excellent points! I have all the Lightworks palettes and wish at least one of them had shades that would fit into the Freedom palette. Pretty lipstick, Milly.
I had a dream I bought this palette and then sold it to buy more viseart.
😂😂😂😂
That’s funny
I've been waiting for your take on this! Thank you!!! As an engineer the limited custimability does hurt my soul.

The full size pans! I showed a photo towards the end
@@badtothebrow Thank you :)
I agree for 128$,I wish they would have made it interchangeable with all their palettes, the other light works are circular
I would DEFINITELY contact someone about that broken shadow!
I bought this on launch and I do love it but I keep mine in the arrangement sent with the color stories given because of continuity sake. I have the others so I like to stack them all together. After your belle beaute bar, and this review..just used your code for a teramoons..ty for indepth comparisons..saved me money ^_^

They’re not different they just add all those labels to make it seem like you’re getting more diversity in finishes and a “better value”

My order is enroute ! I love to watch these vids til I'm actually holding the palette 😂
But whats the gain in volume when you stack all of the palettes? The top/bottom covers? And yes, i own none of the groundwork palettes but it's so annoying those don't fit in there...
And when you stack the 3 parts, dont magnets from the top palette pull the shadows from the bottom palette? :/
I am looking forward to a deep dive on the shadows. I am sorry to hear that the Groundwork putties don’t fit.
I HATE the over description of these shades. It's ridiculous. They are just inventing new words at this time 😂😂😂

I like the idea of the packaging but the colour story - no thanks - last year's was better for me so I'll just keep using that:)
I was hoping to hear a real review on the packaging. Thank you!!!
Beautiful looks 💙💛❤💚💜
Omg, the groundwork refills doesn't fit! Thank you for pointing this out. Such a missed opportunity.
it would be great if she came out with more of the big palettes, but empty. or even if she added the three stackable palettes inside, but kept the pans out so it would be 100% customizable and stackable at the same time
It's true what you say, we don't need these tones because we already have them... but we will always buy them... everything has already been invented...
Yeh but add in the issues...and eays to buy the same cheaper...this palette just isn't for us people that already have these
For some reason, the first look shows up muddy :( perhaps you received a dud batch of shades, given that one of them came busted already.
I’m confused why it’s $128 (=£97) but is priced £148 in the UK. I’d consider it for the lower price but when I saw £148 I was shocked & it’s a no
This was the first DM palette that caught my attention and I was considering it, but after this review I don't think I'll get it. I'm not in the USA and my local Sephora doesn't carry the brand, so it would be going blindly with the formula... it's a pass for me.

Thank you for saving me from buying this pallet
🖤
You KNOW influencers are calling this palette the BEST PALETTE OF THE YEAR!
Everyone has their own opinion
So… I commend you bring up the fact you cannot truly customize the palette because I thought this would be like Inglot’s freedom system, in which you purchase the palette (different sized palettes hold different amount of shades whether it’s eyeshadow, lipstick, and/or blush). When I realized that wasn’t the case, I was also hoping I could purchase just one of their mini palette with that system and then build upon that as they released other color stories. Just like with Natasha Denona’s eye and cheek palette, I would have to wait until they release way more shades that I can truly customize those pans.
I really dont get why people are talking about this like its revolutionary tbh
Colourpop is the same way- the shadows come out of their palettes, but the individual shadows they sell do not fit in their produced palettes (must put them in an empty palette).
I would have spoken or gotten in touch with her..and or customer service. It's sad that her palettes are sooo expensive.
Not only her but a lot of high end artist
I think the packaging is an upgrade from most brands.. but you bring up some amazing points. Thank you.
The favoring of warmer shades in the pallet have me going in the direction of indie singles.. as usual.
I may skip this one. I really don’t like satins and it looks like 1/3 of the palette is and with all the shortcomings….. I’d definitely reach out to get your money back for that shade that fell out:
I can’t pick this one. Is pretty but I can’t spend $128 plus tax.
I think they should have just made the smaller palettes with no spacers.
What a shame. The lost shade is a dark shiny purple with a black shift.
This is not for me, I love her older Light Work
It's pronounced "foe" or "fō" NOT faugh
Dropping a eyeshadow palatte and expecting it to be ok is wild. 😅 I have this plate and it's beautiful and durable. I get so many compliments whenever I wear it. I can't wait to see what she comes out with next.
I never dropped the palette, the eyeshadow fell out of the pan, the photo was to show which shade fell out onto the carpet
Bad packaging can happen with any palatte. I'm grateful mine is ok
I really wish she didn’t do satins, mattes would’ve been much better.
Its gonna be a pass for me, nothing i haven't seen from Adept before.
