      @@manuelsanchez064 oh, I completely agree. It is magnificent! Singer Ofra Haza did a brilliant job and her spanish (Spain) version amazes me. The job she did with all the different language versions is incredible! In most of them you find only a few times in which you doubt if she's a native speaker or not, at least in the spanish version it feels that way. Such beautiful song❤️ Also, I'm an atheist but still the movie and the soundtrack have me crying every single time I watch it😂😂

      The whole soundtrack of that movie just defies description. It's absolutely, breath-takingly good. I personally love the reprise at the end, which somehow delivers the same cadence at an even grander scale. And on top of that, we get these incredible lyrics: "Whatever their pitch, you can feel them enrich you, the rich and the ritual knells of the bells of Notre Dame." CHILLS. EVERY TIME.

    For the Prince of Egypt... the late Ofra Haza brought Yocheved (Moses mother) to life.. in fact, she was the inspiration behind the animation! Her resonance and vocal ability not only brought the longing and yearning to the part but sucked us into the narrative. And not only did she have to sing in English, but she did the overdubs in about 20 other languages (including her native Hebrew) which just underscored why she was an exceptional singer!!

    Here I am, almost crying at the fact that ‘Deliver Us’ is listed at #1. I had a feeling it would be. That is possibly one of my all time favorite movie songs ever. The attention to detail and respect and emotion to the Hebrew heritage given in that song is beautiful!!!!!!!!!! My family background is Messianic and it means a lot to me to see a Jewish composer (Hans Zimmer) and Ofra Haza in the song.

    • @creativewriter3887
      @creativewriter3887 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes.. Ofra Haza not only embodied the longing in the song (her family fled Yemen in the 50s to Israel) but she was the inspiration for Yocheved (Moses' mother). Now the movie was just a re-working of the "Ten Commandments', but it was stunning when it came out. Of course in the book it was like Yocheved and Miriam had it planned that Moses would be rescued and Moses always knew he was a Hebrew as his real mom ended up being his nursemaid by order of Pharaoh's daughter.. thanks to Miriam.

All we get is live action remakes that are not nearly as good as the original. I wish there was some new stories instead of these remakes of already loved movies. To me it feels like they just doing it as a money grab. I honestly won't go see any of the live remakes after the Lion King as that just hurt....they ruined Scar and Be Prepared, they should have brought Jeremy Irons back as his voice was PERFECT for Scar. 04:10 ok, so I perfectly agree that Kuzko's "a perfect world" belongs in that lists. But when you described the song, you forgot to mention it is the perfect vilain introduction song (a tradition in Disney classical vilains, like Ursula, Frolo or Scar). You could argue Kuzko is a twist vilain for the first 5 minutes of the movie and the first two thirds of the song. Because, yes, Kuzko is the vilain of the story, Yzma is only a secondary antagonist (sorry to say that, cause she is great and I love her, but that's the truth). The emperor's new groove is first and foremost a vilain redemption story, in addition to an hilarious comedy!

    • @knightwolf9863
      @knightwolf9863 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Personally, I wouldn’t call Kuzco a villain, more along the lines of a spoiled, entitled, insensitive, selfish, and childish anti-hero, who doesn’t know right from wrong. Also, the fact that Yzma “practically raised him” might explain his jerkish behavior. In addition, whatever happened to his parents?

    • @leovk5779
      @leovk5779 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@knightwolf9863 Ho, he's got plenty of mitigating circumstances: no parents (probably dead as per Disney rule), raised by a bad person (Yzma), spoiled to the core so that his perception of what is important or not is completely distorted, he's very young (18? less?), etc. Still, a crime is a crime: it's played for laugh, to not be perceived as acutely (by children especially, after all this is also for kids), but he was ready to kill an old man (he's unarmed of course, by the laws of comedy, but still that's no thanks to Kuzko) and raze a whole village to the ground for his own pleasure (or displeasure). He's not just a jerk: he's a dictator with absolute power that would destroy anything and anyone in his path, plain and simple.
      But he's of course a sympathetic villain. You can't help but feel for him. You root for him to change and succeed. And he is helped by the absolute perfect human being that is Patcha, without which he would never have started this journey (both the literal and figurative one: the character growth). That's why the movie is so ingenious: the journey from vilain to good guy feels real. it's not straightforward, there are at least two stumbles that make it more believable, as well as small steps forward and deep realisations about himself, and at the end, he has a true test to prove whether or not the change is genuine. He is ready to sacrifice everything to save his friend, proving he has changed.

      Then another complain is how the lead characters fell in love too quickly. I mean, hello! At least you see the relationship progress, even if it's in the span of a day or two. Disney has done the 'love at first sight' trope several times and I rarely see people complain about them. Look at Cinderella. One single dance and marriage was already on the table. How about The Little Mermaid? That movie is so beloved, and the prince was already talking about marrying a girl he saw for just a few seconds, just because he heard her sing. True, she saved his life, but he didn't know her at all at the time regardless.
      Some people even question where the magic in the movie comes from. It's magic! There's no particular explanation! It just exist! I always loved how the fact that these songs did go so hard is one of the many things that make them so iconic! But since most of the songs on this list were done by Disney of course they went as hard as they did because we all know what DIsney is like when it comes to musical numbers.

      If you can find it hear the demo. It's a work of genius. (Also cutting so much of it turned a joke into controversy -- the number was written to make fun of Hollywood tropes of Arabia). It also features the best run-on sentence in lyrical history ("A land of tricky logistics, with prophets and mystics, and I have statistics to prove...")

    "Once Upon a Time in New York City" is SOOO underrated! Thank you for bringing it up, i feel like most of us forgot that song. But it plays in my head often, usually whenever i hear a key word from it, even though it's been YEARS since i saw the movie! Definitely stuck with me just like you said

    El Dorado is Central American, not Eastern, so I have no idea where that came from. I'm in definite agreement about the top 3 on the list, though, and I love the inclusion of all the non-Disney songs.

    • @Curlyteacher537
      @Curlyteacher537 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Road to El Dorado is actually Spanish, as in from Spain, based on a 16th century legend of a city of gold that Spaniards found in the New World. The beginning of the movie takes place in Spain.

    • @tjnguyen8546
      @tjnguyen8546 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Curlyteacher537 But only the beginning of it takes place in Spain. The rest of it is somewhere in Central America, presumably in modern day Mexico. And, either way, neither of those areas are East Asian.

    • @Curlyteacher537
      @Curlyteacher537 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@tjnguyen8546 Yes, as I said it was based on a legendary city of gold found by Spanish conquistadores the New World, which for the Spanish included Central and South America, not Eastern Asia. Most people don’t know it is based on a Spanish legend, not a Central or South American one, which is what I meant to point out.

    I like how the video is titled "....Didn't Have to Go THAT Hard" when all the songs on the list are ones I think were vital to getting our attention and setting up the stories; particularly for Swan Princess, which I think has many flaws, but because of "This is My Idea" I was pulled into watching the whole thing. I think a more fitting title would be "....Got it Just Right", just a personal opinion.

    I own 1999's Tarzan, and. . . Well, the songs are really good.
    "Once Upon A Time In New York City" is really good.
    That opening scene of Hunchback of Notre Dame (I hope I said that right), with the death of Quasimodo's mother (I think she had a name), DESERVES to be up there with Bambi's mother, man. . .

    I've always thought "Once Upon a Time in New York City" was such an underrated classic! And I mean, come on, it's sung by Huey Lewis (the guy who did Power of Love and Back in Time for Back to the Future); it was bound to be a great song!

    Wait, as for "Real in Rio," 1) It was reprised in the end when the gang, including Blu and Jewel's three chicks, sing in celebration. And 2) It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song, losing to the first Muppet song that won an Oscar, "Man or Muppet" from _The Muppets_ (the only other nomination for this category).
    And "A Rumor in St. Petersburg" is not *quite* an opening number; earlier, a young Anastasia and her grandmother sang a short version of "Once Upon a December."
