  • Nissan T-31 x-Trail 2007 Wishbone replacement...Nissan T-31 x-Trail 2007 ( same parts on a Nissan Qashqai and Renault Kelos) Wishbone replacement following knocking noises and alarming wheel movement. The nuts and bolts of changing the units a well worthwhile job....
the amount of movement of the wheels back and forth was quite worrying.... really quite a straightforward spanners and hammer job, but you do need or be able to borrow some fairly heavy duty tools....to be fair Iv'e just had a look on E-bay 3/4" and drive ratchets and breaker bars are under £30.00 or £45 for a complete 3/4" socket set so it may pay to buy yourself the right tools think of all the Labour you will save over the years.....
Very Important to Jack up car well with at least 2 axle stands too...SAFETY FIRST!!

I had trouble getting the ball joint back in. Ended up giving up and calling mechanic! Also found the aftermarket lower control arms didn’t last long before bushing became worn again.

Hello.... Yeah bit easier with 2 pairs of hands....and a big steel bar to push it down.... I'd agree completely about the aftermarket units one pair lasted 18 months so only good for one MOT...!

Having real trouble getting the two bolts in the back on. They dont want to thread on at all. Any suggestions? I have tried moving the knuckle about to get it into place but they just dont want to go in. I have also tried putting the ball joint in first and jacking the arm up but still no luck. Any help appreciated 👍

Managed to sort it. Best idea is to remove the track rod end to enable you to move the knuckle freely. This way you get a much better angle to enable you to install the two bolts much easier.

Hello..... Mate sorry for not getting back to you sooner....out of the country away from computers...!
Yeah it's not the easiest to get the bolts back in removing the track rod end and even the one joint on the drop link does make it easier.... also using a podger (tapered Bar) to lever the bolt holes into alignment helps too...
      All the best....Trevor

@@jetblack11td No worries mate. Thanks for replying. I found it way easier to remove the track rod end and then reinstall the arm. I don't have a pry bar either so that might be why :). Thanks for all the help. The video is really great!

Thanks for the positive comment.....I try to help....these Wishbones are a right pain with two x-Trails an a Qashqai in the family I've changed a few of them.... the cheaper units from Ebay and Euro-car parts, GSF etc...have not lasted 18 months Now trying ASIN branded ones from AUTODOC at £70 ea see if they last longer....!
      Cheers....Trevor

Hello...yeah they don't seem all that tough the Qashqai uses the exact same wishbones (my wife has one) I've found you go to change the bottom ball joint
only to find the hole it fits in has worn oval, and needs a new wishbone still they are cheap enough on Ebay...... All the best ....Trevor
