Love Johnny and Boxtie. I remember I first saw him at the Gallagher fest in '08. This big, beautiful, iconic man with an amazing beard and beret.. like a big Che Guevara was my first thought. He just stood out amongst everyone in a good way, he just oozed charisma. Even without seeing him play he had such magic. I remember I saw him before he went onstage in Rory square beside Owen Roe's, he was walking around the crowd, and immediately I was drawn to him. Later he went onstage and I'll never forget his set, I remember thinking how lucky I was to witness this, and how unfortunate it was that everyone in the world couldn't.. like how I was so privileged, like how people who saw Hendrix back in the day. I was front row with some girl I never saw before and never saw since but I'll never forget her.. I often wonder where she is today, feeling this music, it was insane, during "Mr George" and numerous Rory covers and it was out of this world, beer was flying but nobody cared.. I swear I remember looking behind me and all I could see was a pulsing crowd and flying alcohol, everyone was covered in drink. There was a beautiful sunset and this man was laying it out on a green superstrat kind of guitar, I think maybe an Ibanez. When all the mayhem finished I was the very first man to buy a CD from him, he shook my hand and signed the CD 'Johnny Gallagher '08'. Legendary. I treasured my hand ever since.
