You put your flaked grains through your mill???? I accidentally did that once and my rollers got jambed with flaked oats on the edges. What a mess. Roller wouldn't roll, mill wouldn't mill. You haven't had that problem?
You can do it with a blender, a cheesecloth, a large pot and a plastic bucket. That's pretty much how it's been done for thousands of years Remember people were doing this at the same time the wheel was invented
I know you’re joking, but just so no one gets the wrong idea, yeah, you can spend as much as you want, but you’re off by about three orders of magnitude over what it takes to start.
@@JQ3B94no one should try making alcohol at home. Hundreds of people in India die every year because alcohol is banned in certain states, which leads them to making it at home with less precautions.
In high school I bought a 400$ beer kit, that made 2 gallons of beer, and after acouple of weeks of hard work, I finally made it! Shortly after completion I ended up drinking the whole plastic barrel of warm hoppy beer within a matter of hours… never used it again after that lol
@@Lronhoyabembe Haha, guess again. If you make a very small (low gravity) beer, sure. If you make a bigger beer, it will take much longer for optimal conditioning.

But it is always necessary to teach monitoring the actual progress of the fermentation with a hydrometer, rather than simply waiting 1 week, as you risk bottling a struggling active fermentation and therefore, bottle explosions. Stay safe everyone!
Bit of water, some sugar, a pea worth of yeast, 1 nice and strong beer, boil water with the sugar, let cool to luke warm, add yeast and the beer, pour on bottles, store dark and cozy, 3 weeks later, not the best beer, but Norwegians love it, cheap and easy 😅
Was very curious about brewing my own beer when I was watching breaking bad and watching hank do it, now that I’m watching videos about it, this looks like too much of a hassle
Just so people know, You dont need all this expensive equipment to brew alcohol. You can make a good wine with nothing but a measuring cup and store bought ingredients.
Hops are for balancing the sweetness of the malt. They're also for preserving beer. Before hops were used, a spice mixture was used instead, which served the sane function as hops. These beers were known as gruit. Beer by definition must have hops or something similar, otherwise it's some kind of cider or wine. There are low hops beers like wheat beers, sours and stouts. Take a look at the IBU of the beer (international bitterness unit). Hops are what gives bitterness.
@@steampressedpiston4634 yes "gruit. Instead of hops, you use a spice mixture called gruit which is "used for bittering and flavouring beer, popular before the extensive use of hops. The terms gruit and grut ale may also refer to the beverage produced using gruit. Today, however, gruit is a colloquial term applied to a beer seasoned with gruit-like herbs." Look up who sells gruit in your area. Alternatively look up the lowest IBU beer with very little hops so as to be imperceptible
My biggest concern is that you are going to clog your mill running flaked adjuncts through it. I would take that part out of the vid so some pour soul doesn’t ruin their mill bro.

Looks easy enough.. now I just need $100,000 worth of equipment and about 30 weeks off and I’m ready to have a beer
You can do it with a blender, a cheesecloth, a large pot and a plastic bucket.

I started making beer in a large cooking pot and a used carboy I got super cheep, maybe $50 all together

I brewed my own beer for awhile, just for the experience. Of course, given the time, cost, and effort, It's far cheaper to let someone else do it.
1.5 weeks is not even close to enough conditioning time. Two weeks minimum, but it will be much better at 4-6 weeks.

@Ketoswammy what about bright beer?
The most important part......restarts video and says pour a beer.
That's how all great things start.. and end!!! My friend

Perfect timing on the loop😉🍺
Baught a still in the UK from these guys a few years ago. All their stuff is top quality. Would highly recommend.
Dude kinda looks like Dennis from always sunny in Philadelphia!

In the UK the quality of water is key. Many small breweries have their own spring well water.
So much nice tech and equipment... caps bottle with 9.99 brew store special bottle capper...
I watched this 6 times before I figured out it was a loop
Some are still watching it to this very day.

I think hops are like garlic...just add however much your heart desires
A.k.a. Add none

As a German, adding sugar for carbonation is a crime.
Just use more malt when brewing
LOL, you’re going to undershoot that mash by about 18 degrees, that beer might not even turn out and if it did it’d be dry AF.
Sunny in Philly making their own brews now?
Use tap water if you hate your beer tasting good
Think I'll just walk 30 seconds to the pub, but great video 😂
Why were you milling flaked oats?
I assume its just like coffee beans, get more flavor with them ground rather than whole.

Where do you buy your hops.
I'd wait longer than a week on the primary, I've had bottle bombs going to early
Nope, guess again. For ales, four days, or you underpitched. Some variation by the exact yeast, but not much.

not necessarily, some people pour like that to knock some gas out of it so it doesn't make you so bloated
