I think you've let your frustration at the Fulham result get the better of you. There are several factors you've not considered.
Firstly and most importantly for young players to develop they need game time. Not just 5-10 minutes at the end of games.
Elanga and Garner are playing well now. But it took 10 games of playing 90 minutes every week for them to get into this form. You just don't get that luxury at a club like United. If you have an average game then 10% of the fanbase call for you to be dropped, 2 or 3 average games and you have 50-60% calling for you to be replaced. Garner and Elanga would not be the players they are now if they stayed at United.
Secondly, teams need a level of experience. Especially in the EPL. Elanga and Garner were allowed to leave to give more time to Garnacho and Mainoo. We probably wouldn't have the latter playing so well without selling the former. You can't have two academy players with less than 20 starts between them anchoring your midfield. So you couldn't really start Garner and Mainoo together.
Thirdly, you are ignoring the will of the young players. They want to play regularly, and they know they are more likely to be able to do that at other clubs either on loan or on a permanent deal. Alvaro Fernandez knows he has two players ahead of him, while also knowing he needs regular game time to continue to develop and have a chance of fulfilling his potential. His agent approached the club to ask for a loan move away to aid his development. Also I watched him many times last season while on loan in the championship. He's very good going forward, but is too much of a liability in defence right now. He has a tendency to switch off and not track his man. He's also a little weak and is brushed aside too easily. He's tall so he doesn't have a low center of gravity, but he hasn't filled out yet. Which makes it hard for him to go shoulder to shoulder with grown men. That's why I agreed with a loan to a less physical league which would allow him to actually practice getting more physical with his opponent while he fills out. Having spoken with a few people connected with the United Academy there is a lot, and I mean a lot of expectations on young Harry Amass. They think he could be very special and might even breakthrough to the first team before he's 18. So there could well be some future planning with letting Fernandez leave to make space for a potentially more talented player a couple of years younger than him. Much like the club did with letting Garner and Elanga leave to make space for Mainoo and Garnacho.
Ultimately having a bloated squad is the issue, creating less chances for our youth to play meaning we need to send them on loan or sell them for them to get the game time needed to develop.
As for Amad and Antony, while I'd much rather see Amad start and it is frustrating watching Antony. There are reasons beyond EtH protecting his reputation which I think you have missed. For a start Amad has spent a long time out injured and will need to ease himself back in. He was injured during preseason so he didn't have the chance to get himself into condition before his injury. So he will need to not only build up strength and confidence, but fitness as well.
From a tactical point of view EtH needs his RW player to stay wide in the build up. With Rashford drifting on the left the player on the right needs to keep the width to make space in attack. Antony does this very well and knows what EtH wants. He has the patience to stay wide and hold his position, even if that means he gets limited time on the ball. Amad is less patient and tends to play narrower which causes issues for the team structure, especially in build up play. Amad is probably more of a No.10 than a wide player, and that is why he has a tendency to drift in-field. He wants to get on the ball too much. He will have to learn to stick closer to the manager's instructions if he is going to get more chances in the team.
That is most likely the reason he doesn't have the manager's trust in the same way as Antony does. Certainly more so than the manager feeling the pressure for "his" signing to be a success.

From what I've seen Ten Hag isn't so good at knowing which players are going to adapt to the premier league but is pretty good at working out which youth players are good enough.
I've no issues with any of the youth players he's sold/loaned out. I'd rather we had a decent level of churn than have players hanging round the club for years.

It’s more about the system the manager wants to implement vs the players. When you speak about players like Elanga, yes he’s good, that’s why a regular in the national team, but his style is not link up, rather meant for low block teams like forest. Amad needs some more time to adjust to the system, he was playing in another club and was injured since he came back, so the progress halted. He’s being given time recently in games and it’s up to him to show his qualities. Regarding Alvarez, you’re right, the staff should’ve considered Shaw being prone to injury and we wouldn’t have faced this issue. Cheers.

On Elanga, he had opportunities past 2 seasons before leaving and didn't do much. He is flourishing in a new environment. Garner, similar situation in that at time of sale we had a full compliment of internationals ahead of him,. Both NEEDED to leave to get regular game time (at a lower level with lower expectations) to develop. They both stay at United, they do not develop, it is as simple as that.
Alvaro slight head scratcher given the LB situation but you can't argue the logic for he and Mengi, when everyone is fit, Alvaro was 3rd choice and Mengi wasn't even on the radar.
Football isn't played on a computer somewhere.Keep hearing this notion of "squad player" bandied about. In a bloated squad where you have fringe players who haven't made the grade, they need to go so United can benefit from a fee and the players benefit from regular game time and development.
The current all conquering U18s squad? If we are lucky we will see 2-3 of them join the first team on a regular basis. Most will not make it at United. That is reality.

For me,i think Ten hag really thought Luke Shaw would be at the club for long and Malacia would be happy to play second fiddle. Player like Alvaro needs time to develop and its better if its with a full transfer because a club will have an obligation to play him. Often, loan players are overlooked and arent well cared of. But Shaw would never be fit,we know that. Now,everything looks silly when we dont have a left back to play for.Amad for me was unlucky,he got injured for long and when he came back,Rashford, garnacho and Hojlund played well as front three. I think the reason he played antony yesterday is coz of his defensive output, whereasfor Amad,he doesnt know wat he is gonna get.For me,the worst thing we do is in possession of ball,we hsve no shape whatsoever. For me,Ten hag knows he isnt safe and i feel he isnt long term option for Ineos. He was also involved in transfers and is also to be blamed for. From current list,we have only be only Dalot,Garnacho,Maino,Bruno,Mount,Shaw,Martinez,Onana,Hojlund,Rashford(maybe),Amad(maybe) who looks to be of the quality we need in the squad. Thats 11 players and out of which,3 are questionable. The type of squad that is being created in these two years is below average and Ten hag needs to be blamed for this aswell. We need a new striker,a winger,2 quality midgielders,a whole new defdnse. Atleast 10 newplayers in squad and 5 in starting eleven. Its scary how far we are. Its 500million investment when they say we dint even have an option to buy striker due to ffp regulation. We are atleast 3 season behind,so sad.

We have had non football people running the club, doing negotiations, giving out hefty contracts to players without it being based on performance. The 500mil spend is not on ETH, but on the people in charge of transfers. Antony didn’t set his price, neither did Ajax initially, we could’ve got Antony and Licha for 40 mil. The men in charge waited till last minute, where obviously Ajax didn’t want to sell. Case was also the same case, last minute desperate signing instead of knowing the targets and following them in a window that lasts 2 months. It’s insane to judge a manager on the incompetence of the hierarchy.

With INEOS coming in and United already escaped FFP issues ahead of the summer, they will most likely look for much more better RW players to fill up that position which will make these players drop further the pecking order regardless of if ETH is or isn’t the manager by then.

I think we need to take our utd rose tinted glasses off when analysing these players and the manager.
    1. We want utd to go back to winning trophies. NONE of the players sold/loaned are world beaters even with the increased game time. Elanga, Garner, Hannibal. (Exception is probably Kovar, he would have made a good No.2 goalie).
    2. Let's not forget that the manager watches these kids up close. He understands their way of life around training, recovery, mental fortitude etc.
He has given Garnancho and Mainoo a chance because they were miles ahead of the other youth players.
    3. The answer to better players at the moment is probably hoping our under 18s kick on and form a new class of 2025/26/27 and the transfer market. The other youth players are just not good enough to compete with the big boys in England and Europe.

The thing with EtH is that he promotes youngsters only if they are immediately brilliant. Such is the case with Garnacho and Mainoo. But if they don’t have an immediate impact on the team, they won’t get too many chances. He would prefer loaning them out and hope that others will develop them.
And not even then they are going to have assured a regular starter position or even a regular sub. As is the case with Amad.
But what annoys me beyond everything is the loaning of Alvaro Fernandez in the winter. I don’t remember if in the summer he was loaned out before or after Shaw’s injury, but in the winter he should’ve been brought back.
And that’s on him. Plus, Alvaro is way more competent with the ball than both Shaw and Malacia and also inverts in the center. He showcased this skills in the summer so it beats me why EtH would not even consider him as a future player for us and loan him with an obligation to buy. That’s mainly on him and not on the board.

It does not mean they are bad players, they may just be players fitting different style of play then is demanded.

This video is obsolete, Amad is a star, much much better than those great egos that bring nothing to the game week in week out. The moment he steps on the pitch you know how much he will bring to our play. Great, great against Liverpool like Mainoo, Garnacho and Dalot

Your worst video I have seen. The argument makes no sense to me. Why would Ten Hag play a player he believes is worse, something that could make him lose his job, so he can look "good" at the end of the season and have more control of transfers at his next job AFTER he gets fired from United, rather than play the "better" player that could actually get him what he needs to keep his job at Manchester United? That makes absolutely no sense. What do you think a manager is judged more on, finishing as high as possible in the league or how many times they played their most expensive player? And that is even ignoring the fact that Antony has been benched for several games straight, or that the manager does not negotiate player prices. Come on man.

Y'know what makes more sense than all this?! Ten Hag's Dutch.........and the Dutch are notoriously arrogant and pig headed when it comes to decision making (trust me, I've worked in Holland). Just look at what people said about Van Gaal and Cruyff, then understand that Ten Hag suffers from the same blinkered, narcissistic mentality....
