My pleasure. Yes those people could've been in there looking at the engine, as the assistance from the 47 showed there was something up with the Delitc there. Thomas
@@themodster oh thought I was seeing things, did notice the east coast 47 on the rear was working quite hard.. is the Deltic fitted with multiple working so it can control the 47 ?
@@themodster What I want to know is, where did the train reverse? I saw in your video that it was the 47 heading outwards at Finsbury Park. I couldn't see anything on Real Time Trains about it.
@@gregkiteos1936 After arriving at the cross it went to Ferme Park sidings near Hornsey, where the Deltic and 47 swapped ends of the consist. The 47 then towed it back into the cross.
Thanks Joe. Luckily it was slowing for the station while the deltic kept going. It was a tense moment, especially as the 700 was around 10 minutes late. Thomas
Beautiful footage Thomas. I've spoken to a number of people who were around to see the "Deltic Scotsman Farewell" on 02/01/1982 and everyone was saying "This is the end of purpose built East Coast Racehorses" and "This is the end of loco-hauled expresses on the East Coast Mainline" . I wonder how that turned out? 🤔
W 700 driver for slowing down before regular speed decrease to let you catch the class 55
It was a tense moment. Glad it worked out in the end. Thomas
Amazing shot, thank you.
Pretty awesome ! Thanks. James.
Cheers James. Thomas
You were dam lucky with that opening video, so glad it worked out though, excellent capture!!!
Indeed, it was very close. Thanks! Thomas
Thanks for sharing.Brings back many memories.
My pleasure Michael. Thomas

OMG - you jammy ***** - you couldn't have timed that better with that first clip..... !! - Excellent video, and gutted that I missed this one
Thanks Malcolm. That's certainly the closest its ever been but I stood my ground and it paid off. Thomas
Cracking video that - I couldn't get out to see it this week but its in my neck of the woods later in the year and I can't wait to see it again.
Thanks very much. Hope it's good when you see it. Thomas
The last shot really does get the point across that there are 36 cylinders inside the Deltic.
It sounded great at Hadley.
Last shot of the Deltic you could see some people in orange hi vis jackets inside the engine room.. ? Great footage thanks for sharing 👍

@@JJthrashing No its not. The driver of the Deltic would radio to the driver of the 47 to assist. Happens on steam tours as well.
Very nice! I saw this at Welwyn North and then again at Welham Green. I love the sounds!
Thanks Greg. The Deltic certainly has a lovely roar to it. Thomas

@themodster That would have been cool to have recorded that, the two locos running round the train!
@@themodster and I should have paid more attention to what end the carriages were!
Only reason I’m not jealous of your film is I saw the Lancaster Bomber flying over the Dee estuary today. But trust me it was close! Great film. Paul
Cheers Paul. Indeed, it was close. Thomas
That Class 700 didn’t stayed a chance against the might of Class 55 ‘Deltic’ Excellent video 👍

To quote Jeremy Clarkson-POWERRRRRR......
Nice catch :)
Cheers Simon.

Very lucky!! Thanks. Thomas
So luck the other train didn’t obscure your view ha !
It was very close. Thomas
You were lucky you didn’t get bowled with the 700
Very lucky. Thankfully it paid off. Thomas
Why don't the idiots controlling Britain's Railways put the Deltics back on Mainline duties. They are still better than any other.
