    Thanks for this. My Great Grandfather was born near prisoners harbor. There's a looping video in the visitors center (a youtube version is available) that shows a photo of my Grandmother. I have reservations for that same campsite. I've been there before but this will be my first time camping. Hope the 3 milesto Del Norte isn't too bad

      That's a neat story. There are some ups and downs to Del Norte but it's not too bad.

    Heading out Feb 2024. Where did you store your water jugs as you hiked? How much did you really use?

      We ended up using all of our water (which was close to 3 gallons) for 1 adult and 1 child. That was for two full days plus cooking meals at camp. Usually I stash up to 2 gallons in my pack and carry anything else by hand. I buy the gallon containers with a plastic loop on the top that can be carried.
