- i clipped a bunch of kamen rider while i was watching it to put it on twitter so i decided to compile it together and put it on youtube so i can delete the files from my computer without regrets

Love how all the camera angles and shots try to convince you that Amazon is really lifting that motorbike
And I've watched pretty much all of these lol.
See, this is exactly why I love the old Kamen Rider series. It's fun, it's zany, it's ridiculous, it's cringe, yet managed to be epic at the same time. Don't let those white neckbeards who just started watching say it's full of fillers & it's just fighting the monster of the week. That's the good thing about the era. It's action-packed & you can jump in at any ep & you won't be lost. It has a plot, but the main focus is the action. If you come in, expecting to get a plot heavy melodrama like in the modern ones, you're not getting them here. But if you just want some fun? Old Kamen Rider series got them in spades.

That's why I sometimes will love OG Amazon, the Kamen Rider manga by Ishinomori sensei

4:43 - it really says something about the effectiveness of the effects and lighting wizardry of the era, that they can pull off a scene like this and have it be both bizarre and terrifying. The whole scene: Great Leader is revealed as a skeleton that cannot in any way be human or a dude in a suit; he _stands up_ and explains that he's the god of death, come to visit desolation on all humans, _attacks_ V3 - only to be revealed to be a pumping heart and a _tape recorder_ in the end.
You can sum it up as "V3 fights a skeleton(?) puppet" if you like, and that would be correct. But context or no, if you saw this whole scene as a kid - doesn't matter if you were born in Showa, Heisei, Reiwa - there's no way you'd ever forget it.
i agree! without the context it looks absurd, but in-context it's actually super raw especially after watching the OG show. just when you think shocker's great leader is gone forever, turns out he's ALSO the leader of this new group, somehow defying the death that the previous riders delivered to him. easily one of the most memorable finales/leader reveals of the showa era for me. i love toku for moments like this, where the effects they do can simultaneously be goofy (intentional or not) and carry incredible weight at the same time. this scene in particular is such a shocking and unexpected reveal no matter how you look at it and it rocks.

Not a Showa watcher but:
IIRC, Kamen Rider requires wind to power his belt. The belt allows him to access his true form. So the bike is there to power his belt by driving quickly, but once he's transformed, he's ridiculously fast, strong and durable.
