I fed my coastal carpet python a rat that i was afraid was too big the other day. Now im hearing they can eat wallabies! No wonder she took it like a champ
this is the first pet i plan on getting and ve always had an eye on snakes ive been doing months worht of research to make sure i have a good environment for it, ant wait to get my little companion soon
Kool vid showing off the Carpet Python, and talking the sub-species alike. I have two of the Southwesterncarpetpython, the Morelia Imbricata. These are shown to be base taxonomically to be separated from the spilota species and subs. Very placid and 3asy to cohabitation.. Cheers for your vid 🐍🤘
Yes I do want one of these and I want a dumeril boa . Normally even the biggest coastels pythons don't get over ,9ft often right ? Unless rare occasions . Most people I see that do have really big ones are 7.5 ft for females and biggest male was under 6.5 ft
So you agree that a coastal carpets is very similar to blood pythons and red tail boas ? But the heaviest blood I saw was 50 pounds and idk bout red tails heaviest but it's somewhere 100 pounds for the 14 footers@@JzsReptiles
I love Carpet Pythons. I mostly keep ball pythons and colubrids, but Carpets are probably one my favorite species along with retics. I only have one, a Carmel jungle jag, but she is fascinating to watch and after she comes out of her tub she’s quite easy to handle, she just doesn’t like the initial contact, lol.
I just recently tried to purchase a jungle jag from Gopheryourpets Joseph Champlin in Houston, but he took my money kept promising to send it for over a month but never did deliver. I'm still in the market for a Carpet python and am out $277.00. I wish there were something I could do, I'm just afraid he's ripping other people off as well. Love your channel, you have some beautiful animals, do you have any carpets for sell?
not sure why, but all carpet python's I've had wanted to do that straight at the face thing. they don't want to bite, but they all stretch out straight at your face.
Lucky you. I had two carpet pythons who hissed and struck for all of the 8 years I had them. Thought I could tame them and build trust through regular and proper handling, which I did to some extent but they never really took to being handled. I have more bite scars than I can begin to count from those two. Never been bitten by any other snake besides those two carpets and a Mojave rattlesnake when I got too close as a child who didn't know any better.
@@TomS-u4s haha the ratios are perfect and the scales have no spread at all so no overfeeding here. There is 15% of another Morelia in her though.. Guess which because it's so rare most people don't know about it. Lets say this bloodline only exists in Northern Europe.
Bout how much can these snakes weight if you were to have a big girl get 10 ft plus coastal carpets cus I hear them ones getting largest . How will you say they stack up vs dumerils boas and blood pythons ? I often see vids of carpets eating really big prey adult chicken's, turkeys, ducks, goose, possums, raccoons, skunks, and from what I see they eat anything lizards, birds don't matter maybe even can try fish even doe cus never did see it but I'm sure captivity they will if giving .
@@JohnDoe-of9vc it’s possible maybe. I’m not the biggest carpet expert but I know enough to be dangerous and I’ve spoken to many keepers and breeders before I put out videos if I can
Hi I'm fairly new to reptiles, would say orginal is the coolest sad to see them gone sometimes, due to the diamonds I'm not sure they are more hardy tho I cud be wrong, thinking so might give the wrong assumption no? And are diamonds even carpet pythons? :b
my next snake has gotta be a coastal or jungle carpet python i love them so much and they seem more interesting than something like a ball python also does anyone know if morphmarket is a good online shop to buy carpet pythons?
Great video but I really hate seeing our animals overseas. Australia doesn't export our navara animals, so all the ones here would have originally been illegally taken. Unless in zoo's.
@@JzsReptiles but the thing is there are no retics in Australia.....it would make more sense for them to be more related to scrubs.....they look more similar to them than retics......but I agree with u

A carpet python very well my next snake. I've loved these guys for years and being from Pittsburgh, black and yellow have a hold on my heart lol
I like the trust training technique.

I have a Murray-Darling, amazing snake. My absolute dream snake is a diamond, so pretty!
How big do these really get, i see so many different sizes online
It varies. Some subspecies stay around 6-8 feet and others like coastals get over 10. Similar to boa locals
@@JzsReptiles thank you!!

You talking? When did snakes get ears? I have a 10+ foot Coastal Morph that has never hissed or struck after the first month of her 8 year old life
Cool story. Most carpets that get bigger than average are because of overfeeding which in turn reduces their lifespan. The More You Know

Is there a local that is less nippy? Is there one that’s smallest?
Jungles are usually the smallest and it really varies by individual as far as temperatures go
@@JzsReptiles I watched a video a while back from a breaded that had a carpet that said that local/morph/whatever was more “tame”. Lol

Yes diamond pythons are carpets. They’re actually the nominate subspecies Morelia spilota spilota
