@@tiffinytiffable I got it from the same lens. It had two of them: one spring for closing the aperture and the second one for A/M switch that is useless when you use the lens with an adapter. The spring on A/M switch was in the decent state to be a spare part.
Many years ago i repared my old Zeiss 50mm F1.8 Jena and my Flektogon 35mm F2.8 both with oil in paddles problem and no internet exist; i take many time for repair... but with this video seem too easy. I remember clean the paddles with a few of isopropyl alcohol. Thank you very much for share!!! Edited: talking about this video with a friend he have a copy with paddles with oil... this weekend i have a little work :-)
Brilliant work, and exquisite musical taste sir, watching you work while listening to Django and Stephan was a joy, you should have more subscribers. I have this lens and the focus ring is very stiff and this video was exactly what I needed to see what I'm going into, thanks.
Hi, great detailed video. I did serviced my Flektagon 2,4/35 too, without touching the blades, but now, the lens has no had stop at the closest focus anymore and it falls out every time I am passing 0,2 m. What am I missing? I watched your video 5 times and I not getting the point what I am missing!? Can you give me a hint? Thanks
@@Romaledeal This is why he makes the scratch mark on the helicoid and makes attention to where each helicoid is when he removes them. Admittedly, it's difficult to decipher exactly what he's doing here, but it's important to know if you don't know how to line those helicoids up it is going to be a lot of trial and error in putting them back together properly because there are many possible "wrong" configurations. I wish he would have been a little more clear what he's doing here, because it does kind of defeat the purpose of showing pretty much everything while leaving out a few very crucial details.
I'll try to explain what he's doing here, because it was confusing to me too. He throws the lens to the minimum focal distance (where it locks in place and won't go any further). Then he begins to unscrew the helicoid (you want to do this slowly, because you are trying to mark the precise point that the helicoid decouples). Then he marks where the helicoid decouples (in a way that it will line up to the red focal distance indicator. Doing this means that when you go to put it back together, you have clear demarcation where to line the helicoid up. If you forget to do this the first time you take a lens apart, you probably won't do it again, because it's a massive pain in the ass.
god damn helicoid shit is a nightmare !!! never got mine to its right position (( bought this way )) and now im stuck ..... but thanks for the video ^^
Hi, really useful video. I do need some help however. After unscrewing the base there were 2 ballbeari Gs and one v. spring. The aperture spring works. Can you show or tell me where these go please? Much appreciated. Tim A
Any advice on dismantling rear elements? Have removed the back one, but ones under rings I am having problems with. Can't shift the top locking collet, seems very very tight!
Thank you for the video. I'm stuck at the point where I have merged the two pieces together, but when I turn the focus ring, it comes off track? Can you help me out with this?
The 2nd small aperture ring thing that fits aperture blade pegs is swapped around and the camera resumes with it in a diffrent position which totally threw me. It's hardly noticeable until it's pointed out. The projecting peg on it should be pointing UP.
If you're talking about the aperture blades, the best thing is naphtha. Google it. Some lighter fluids are pure naphtha, so it can be found easily if you double check the ingredients. But be careful, it's very dangerous. I've used it for cleaning aperture blades on Flektogons, Sonnars, Nikkors and other lenses without any problems but be particularly careful to work in a well ventilated area for short spells.
I have not seen it either. This is a video to impress. Unfortunately some very important details are missing. And instead of the music there should be someone who explains what to do. I guess I will have to find a better one.
it's fake. you put spring on the plastic ring first and next to metal ring and then create aperture not that way on this video. Look this easy way: th-cam.com/video/U8uSwAhKp4M/w-d-xo.html&frags=pl%2Cwn
Hello, I opened mine and I need to change the springs (both of them) I am looking around if someone can tell me where can I get them ? Or maybe some informations so I can find some that work just as they do. Thank you
Got a stuck aperture in mine lens. I had to replace a spring. I would have never been able to do it without this video. Thanks a lot!

So if you want to clean the glass only there Is no need to mark anything or worry about how to put back since everything is simple unscrew ?

Can you do the PB mount one ? :-D

So you are saying the guy failed when putting it all back together?
@@elitefamilyparkour No. The video is cut and then rejoined and its not too obvious.

Thanks for your toturial information! Do you know one for flektogon 35mm 2.8 zebra?
ezen milyen foglalat (mount) van ?
Wich grease do you use? what type of grease is it ? thanks
He is using white lithium grease for the helicoid. I believe that is screw locking lacquer he is using for the spring on the aperture mechanism.
mine work well.. but i get the infinity focus when I', on 1,3 mt... Do you know if is for the helicoid assembled in a wrong position?
yes
And what is that little tube you make some sort of drop on something with? ;0
I live in Illinois and have this exact lens that needs repair. Aperture blades are stuck. Could you message me your price to repair? Thanks!
