Pediatric heart doctor here - based on your description, it sounds like Jack may have something called pulmonary valve stenosis. From your description, it sounds like Jack’s is probably mild. This will often resolve or just stay mild. While it can get worse, that is less common and will typically occur slowly (so your doctor will know before it causes a problem for Jack). The fact that Jack is healthy and active it a really good sign! Just don’t want y’all to worry for months until his next check up. Prayers that you get good news at the next appointment!

My grandson is 9 now but when he was younger my daughter went through Almost the same but the way describe it they always say Nannie ya know the Mercedes sign and I say yes , then they tell me something about the blood pumping through it ! I wish I had it exactly what it is ! But anyways I’m sure Jack will be good I understand completely it’s nerve wracking I get it ❤️
My grandson was born with a heart murmur that they said would most likely resolve itself. It did, but it also came back at one point, his doctor said something about it probably one of those that will reappear when he’s been sick. He’s 17 now, slender, about 6’2” & when he stays with me for a few weeks…walks around my bldg, listening to his music for 45-60 minutes & sometimes will even carry weights while walking!!

You wrote exactly my thoughts. so thank you whoever you are..., 2 of my kids had them and they both grew out of it. Also, I say surgery before the trip, if healing is close... you'll have a much better time and heal faster because you already have a positive attitude in general and now you have the motivation of the trip to heal even faster and you will, just see urself there feeling great and you will be. BTW I'm not a doctor I only play one on TV. 😁

I am 71 now and just found out that I have a faulty valve. Never came up before this and I get it checked every year and so far it is fine so wishing same for Jack! He certainly has plenty of cute little boy energy and gets more adorable every day! Sending out good positive vibes to keep him happy and healthy!
I have the same problem with my heart. They diagnosed me when I was 4 months old. I’ve never had any restrictions and I’ve lived a perfectly normal life, aside from the check ups every couple years. I hope and pray it’s the same for y’all and that Jack doesn’t have to have surgery
Same here, 😊 have always had Dr's ask me if I knew I had a heart murmur. I told them yes and that was the end of it. It doesn't bother me, never has. I'm a grandma of 12 now and my heart is not a problem. No worries. 😊
My Dad was born with a heart murmur and is 71 now. Hopefully Jack won't have any issues either. Derik, the more knee surgeries you have, the longer the recovery/physical therapy will be each time. I started on my first surgery when i was 23. Had a few more knee surgeries to keep being able to walk without pain. I had my first knee replacement when I was 38. That one had huge issues and got infected and it had to be replaced again. 8 years later and now my kneecap has disinigrated. Do your best to try to keep your own regular knees. With a replacement you can't run anymore and it really hinders your activity.
@samtrujillojr yes, you are very right on that. I have had relatives that had them replaced (not until they were like 70 though) and they were just fine with no lasting issues. The only thing that they tell you is that you won't be able to run anymore, which is ok with me.

My Mom had a heart murmur for years and lived to 96. At 91 she had a valve replacement and lived another 5 years. For her, the went through her side, so no major surgery. Best of luck!!

@@prissyjones8892 She'll do great I'm sure, is she getting mechanical or pig? They both have pros and cons, You have to weigh up what works for You. I've had 2 aortic replacements, one through the breastbone the other was through the side, I was out of hospital in a week. The smallest of tasks will hurt to do. A pillow braced on chest when getting up would be my best advice, the pillow was my best friend for quite a while 🤗

I'm 67, and I've had the same diagnosis since I was 17. It's been fine my whole life. The only thing I have to do is take antibiotics prior to any surgery. Don't be too scared about it. The doctor wouldn't have let him go if they were very concerned. When I turned 65, they said I should see a cardiologist every year, which I have. ❤❤

My son is 9 almost 10, he had open heart surgery when he was 3 and you wouldn't be able to tell by the amount of energy he has. He lives a completely normal life, he sees his cardiologist once a year and has the coolest scar ever to show off his bravery! So much love sent to Jack!!!!
I'm 73 and about 5 years ago the Dr. discovered I had a heart murmur. It is not a problem for me so far. I'm in fairly good health and still a very active senior citizen. I'm so excited for your trip to Australia 🇦🇺💗😍. Show us as much of that trip as you can. I've always wanted to visit Australia and New Zealand 🇳🇿. I'm very happy for you. No worries about kids and heart murmurs.. both my brother and I had them, as we grew up they disappeared, so did my son, and his three cousins had heart murmurs when they were under 4, and they gradually ‘left’ ! Do not worry about Jack’s heart murmur… I’m sure he will grow out of it- as for your knees and being operated, leave it for when you get back from Australia, so you can have a quiet time recuperating! My brother had a heart murmur and it went away as he grew. I was born with Mitral Valve Prolapse and have never had a problem and the cardiologist checks it once a year. I’m almost 67 and my brother is almost 65. Hugs and kisses to everyone!

I agree anything with the heart is worrisome. Jack looks very healthy, I think regular check ups are a great thing because as a parent you don't want to miss a thing. My son was born with heart issues and yes I had ups and downs with the different stages but I am happy to say that his heart is doing good he is now 23 years old. My brother found out that he had a heart murmur and was at high risk of having an aortic aneurysm back in 1983. It was very scary so I can only imagine how stressful this is for you guys. They told my brother he would need heart surgery within 10 years. Well that was 40 years ago and he's still going strong today... no surgery needed thus far. Jack and Sunny are beautiful children! Please continue to post videos. I spend a lot of time in the hospital and I have 5 small kids at home. Life is crazy but I ALWAYS find time to watch. Last time I was in the hospital I spent days binge watching from the beginning. Also one game you two should try if you are competitive is Beat Star. It’s sooooo fun and my entire family battles each other. Praying for Derik and try not to worry too much about Jack. A lot of people have heart murmurs. So try not to stress to much about it. I understand it's your child and you will always stress. I am 50 years old and have a heart murmur since birth. I have it checked every year with no change. It runs in our family. My brother, mom, grandma, aunt all have one. No one in our family has ever had any trouble with the murmur. I hope this puts your mind to ease some. That was the point of this was to help with less stress with that. But always just keep a watch on it. Have a great day. My daughter did drs put through a bunch of tests and determined it’s what they call an innocent murmur hasn’t been a problem and she is 43

Fun fact: A lot of baby girls are born with a heart murmur. Most parents don't know and it closes within a few weeks.

This is the exception not the rule. The vast majority of knee replacements go off without a hitch. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience.

I'm 73 and about 5 years ago the Dr. discovered I had a heart murmur. It is not a problem for me so far. I'm in fairly good health and still a very active senior citizen. I'm so excited for your trip to Australia 🇦🇺💗😍. Show us as much of that trip as you can. I've always wanted to visit Australia and New Zealand 🇳🇿. I'm very happy for you. Sunny's smile reminds me of a song, "I'd Walk a Mile For One Of Your Smiles". She just fills the room with -well, of course- SUNSHINE 🌞 with that smile 😇.
No worries about kids and heart murmurs.. both my brother and I had them, as we grew up they disappeared, so did my son, and his three cousins had heart murmurs when they were under 4, and they gradually ‘left’ ! Do not worry about Jack’s heart murmur… I’m sure he will grow out of it- as for your knees and being operated, leave it for when you get back from Australia, so you can have a quiet time recuperating! My brother had a heart murmur and it went away as he grew. I was born with Mitral Valve Prolapse and have never had a problem and the cardiologist checks it once a year. I’m almost 67 and my brother is almost 65. Hugs and kisses to everyone!

I agree anything with the heart is worrisome. Jack looks very healthy, I think regular check ups are a great thing because as a parent you don't want to miss a thing. My son was born with heart issues and yes I had ups and downs with the different stages but I am happy to say that his heart is doing good he is now 23 years old. Good luck and as always we love watching your family. Thank you for being positive and being humble.

My brother found out that he had a heart murmur and was at high risk of having an aortic aneurysm back in 1983. It was very scary so I can only imagine how stressful this is for you guys. They told my brother he would need heart surgery within 10 years. Well that was 40 years ago and he's still going strong today... no surgery needed thus far. I thought sharing this might help you feel a little less nervous. ❤

Derik and Sarah, I just have to say….you guys are amazing! You are the only reason I watch TH-cam. I just love following your beautiful family. You are both AMAZING parents! So “real”. Jack and Sunny are beautiful children! Please continue to post videos. I spend a lot of time in the hospital and I have 5 small kids at home. Life is crazy but I ALWAYS find time to watch. Last time I was in the hospital I spent days binge watching from the beginning. Also one game you two should try if you are competitive is Beat Star. It’s sooooo fun and my entire family battles each other.

A lot of people have heart murmurs. So try not to stress to much about it. I understand it's your child and you will always stress. I am 50 years old and have a heart murmur since birth. I have it checked every year with no change. It runs in our family. My brother, mom, grandma, aunt all have one. No one in our family has ever had any trouble with the murmur. I hope this puts your mind to ease some. That was the point of this was to help with less stress with that. But always just keep a watch on it. Have a great day. I enjoy watching the little ones grow. They are beautiful and such a blessing. I have two grown boys and they are such a blessing in my life.
