(imagine) Given an opportunity to pick 4 cards at random from a deck , one cannot say which one he will pick next ,so it's not a mathematical trick Now , He makes her put 4 up 4 cards and one showing , I guess its because for as to the audience not realizing any subtle changes on the back in all the cards giving away the value or Cynthy is in on it or the other guy , it can be either way.
