    The dual zone fridges are a bit thirsty on power. I did have one and after it packed up, I found out it used about 55w per hour. Instead, I bought two single fridge freezers that use a great deal less power. I use one as a fridge and one as a freezer but I understand that you can’t do this because of space restrictions. I do have another fridge that I have in the centre console just to use when I’m driving for cool drinks and snacks. I turned that off when I’m not driving. The portable solar panel will stop the need to run the engine. I can leave my camper for weeks in the fridges still run because I have a 250 W solar panel on the roof. It looks like a neat little setup though. Cheers from Perth Western Australia.

    Good system, we have the dual battery system. But yours makes so much sense, quick and simple. 👍

    Jun great little set up and great while driving. however after many many years of playing around with solar, stations, batteries etc.. I have found that a 200plus watt solar panel on your roof top tent will be your best option. You do pretty much what I do but for 1-2 weeks at a time. 1 x 100 amp lithium battery a solar panel is all you need. No need to rely on having to burn fuel just for charging. I do have a 3.75kw power pack with built in 2000w inverter this unit alone will run my fridge for min of 10 days without charging. I also use the same unit to power my house during backouts. Just food for thought.

      Except when there is no sunlight, beneath forest canopy , or very little sun, such as long periods with days of rains or during overcast winter or snows. I use my Ecoflow solar bifacial panels year round in wilderness regions...but often need to use the Ecoflow 800W alternator charger to maintain the starter battery & Delta 2 plus River.

    Solar charging is a great place to start to keep the battery topped up if pitched for a few days. A 200W panel should be sufficient. The diesel engine can be used if the battery needs more juice above that which the solar panel can provide.

    Hi June, good info. Question are you still using the original 1Kz alternator? . Is it still able to charge (top up) your dual lead acid battery set-up and the eco flow at 400 watt. ?

  • @loo0201
    @loo0201 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Important to know your alternator capacity. For a 800w charging on a 14v +/- alternator, is about 57A. Already quite alot of load on the stock alternstor. Not to mentioned it supplying your car batt, lights etc at night. Good luck 😅

      @loo0201 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      And a constant 60A on the wires and those length....heat and fire risk is definitely a concern. Beware.

    • @Globetrotter-1
      @Globetrotter-1 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Nonsense. 😂 The alternator is well capable of drawing an extra 800W without a problem. The main alternator is designed to deliver way more than that, and remember that watts pushed to the Delta are what is normally wasted anyway. Also, not only does the Ecoflow Delta & Charger constantly monitor and adjust to safe modes, but the vehicle system itself will automatically turn off certain functions such as pumps, air con, cabin lights etc if it detects that there is overload or that the main starter battery is not yet at peak voltage.

    what's the difference using an inverter + car battery to charge the power station VS alternator charger?

    • @justplaycarvings
      @justplaycarvings วันที่ผ่านมา

      The alternator charger takes the 12V from the car, converts to 48v then uses the 48v to charge the power station battery. Power station battery is 48V system

    With 800w charge rate, you need to turn the car diesel engine on for more than an hour to charge 1000WHr. Assuming you are using 6l per hour with car idling but engine running, you need around 8l of diesel to charge the power bank. Assuming diesel cost you RM2 per litre, that’s RM16 per full charge. In addition, will this form of charging damage the alternator? Diesel engine doesn’t like to run idle and this can cause carbon buildup. I would think using solar panels, reduce electricity usage or charge the power bank from the wall socket by negotiating with the the camp operator is a sustainable way. Furthermore running diesel engine without a diesel particulate filter generates carbon monoxide and carcinogen particles which is both bad for health and environment.

      I have been running my diesel ⛽ engine for an hour or more at idle for years without a single problem. It also causes no problems to the main engine. Even a short run along a motorway quickly cleans the system out if you are worried about carbon build up.
      The same happens when you're stuck for hours in traffic jams.

    These power stations are good if you're only a casual camper that only goes away for an overnight or weekend camping trips. They are not good for multi-day and long term travel/camping. As even the most powerful of them simply do not have enough battery capacity to meet most overlanders' power needs.

    Why is the snorkel head turned backward? Mine is always facing forward even during heavy rain. Why ya?

    • @bt1163
      @bt1163 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Backwards means less dirt n dust n heavy rain getting into the engine. Normal road conditions forward facing. Snorkel suppose to supply dry clean air to engine. Imaging on flooded roads a lorry coming past can splash water directly into your snorkel if facing forwards !

      @@beagle3570 You have mistaken ‘promotional’ vs ‘educational / informational’. If she tries to become ‘another influencer’, her sub will take a hit.

      While it is sort of "promotional" it is still based on her experience while she's using the product.. so those who plan to do overlanding atleast they would have the idea.. and that's really part of being a youtuber..
