My Grandfather was an auto worker in Chicago in the 1960s - during a strike workers received benefits from the city that he refused. Instead he opened a hotdog and snow cone stand to support his wife until the strike was over. His words: Once a "MAN" takes a hand out his hand will always be out.
My Dad was on strike when I was born. Had two young kids and a newborn and wife he supported. Instead of getting handouts he worked unloading trucks at night and walked that picket line every day. My Dad was the strongest man I ever met.
You should be a hero to your children and all children regardless of gender or race. I see nothing wrong with a hand up, not a hand out! God bless you Van!
I’m a Filipino immigrant who also worked myself to succeed & became a citizen. It’s unfortunate that they are losing their job. However if you have that experience & you’re a hard worker then you’d be able to survive just like you. President Trump is doing what needs to be done. Just like the definition of INSANITY - the president is NOT going to play like that.
Van I’m kind of new to your channel and hearing where you and your wife came from and the things you over came I admire and respect you even more. God bless you and your family and keep going!
That's what those services are for, Van! They're meant to be short term, when people have difficulties, not to be a way of life! I have used them myself, but when I no longer needed them, I let them go.
Social services (not life long socialist programs) are for all people; especially those who need that little extra help. Hard work, family first & God fearing is how one makes it happen.
Van I to never relied on anybody to support me. I'm 81 years old been working since I was 12 years old long before Affirmative Action Programs, latter DEI . Quit school at 16 since than over many years I have 2 engineering degree's, Business degree and business Law/Contracts degrees. President Trump want's Americans to get back to merit based system; ya hustle, keep your self straight, move up the ladder on your merit! Worked in corporate America for 23 years was given and offer to leave with a nice pension and benefits. Started a professional consulting business at age 48. I had no debt and financially well off, built my wealth, properties, etc now retired enjoying my children, grand children, great grand children. Another important thing I've been married 58 years, a Veteran, Christian. Great Job Van keep the faith keep speaking the truth. Yes this was a shocker from my friend Donald J Trump BUT he had to make a real change that the American people are done with supporting these programs driving the middle class out of America. God, Family, Country ! JWH
It will be fine. We should be judged and hired by our Character and our abilities, not by our race, gender or religion. PERIOD....I will not fly on a plane because DEI. HELL NO
You have an amazing history and heritage. So glad your aunt and cousin were able to take you in and raise you. Don't children change your world?! If you let them, meaning you teach them - they end up teaching you as well. Children are a blessing. Teach them, train them, want them to do better than you. The nuclear family is essential for us as individuals, and for the country.
The fed govt has swung so far to the left, it will undoubtedly be painful to some citizens to bring it back into balance. The heart of this is. … can we as a nation stop calling ourselves as black Americans, white Americans, even native Americans. Are we not all… Americans?!
100% we had the same thing got together young had to do it on our own. Busted our ass to raise our family. But we like you are proud and still together 37 years later ❤ Love watching you. Keeping it real
Much Respect to you and your wife Sir . Your beliefs and attitude are the fabric of decency , honesty and the American way . Thank you for being who you are .
Amen to that Van, I struggle daily financially and sometimes go without eating, but I work hard my entire life and some days are better than others. God provides to those who believe and work hard.
LOVE your guest! She is brilliant and I think you should do a monthly (or more frequent) show together. Both of your personalities go well together for this sort of platform. But yeah, love her candidness and insight.
I 100% disagree with all affirmative action programs. I declined an advancement opportunity that was offered exclusively women of color at my company. It was veiled as way to give more management jobs in the comppany. No one could explain why this was needed vs promoting the most qualified people. I will never take something solely because I'm a woman or black. I will show you that I've earned it!
I really love your channel brother, I've watched you evolve as I was on the same journey. I'm getting your coarse and hope to thank you personally for helping me stay sane
I'm a Multiethnic American, these racial laws should not have ever been implemented. As Trump said, "Politicians have wanted to get rid of these laws for years." With that being said, other politicians didn't have the testicular fortitude to take action.
Its like getting a job with the ' big three ' where you might make 2 or even 3 times what you used to and going right out and buying a new car and a mortgaged house. Then it doesnt last or you get laid off in 6 months. You screwed up and thought you were set for life when it was a gamble.
30 years ago , I went through when DEI first gave DEI my job, was told have to give it to someone other than white!!! Well I am not white , I am mix Indian and lost my job. I was mad then. But got over it. Be careful and love GOD be blessed
Accidentally hit post. I saw the problem back when I was in high school. We had a video of 2 workers, one black, one white. The white actually was a bit better qualified, but my class felt the black candidate should be hired because he was black. I pointed out that the job should go to the best qualified. Otherwise, like planting the seed that's less good, you end up with a crop that is less good. I was shouted down for trying to put blacks down. I just wanted it to be fair, and for our country to excel. It is interesting that my predictions have come to fruition.
There is No job that is guaranteed for anyone. I never believed my job was totally secure, therefore I always lived below my means and saved. When my last job closed I was 4 yrs. from retirement yet my house was long paid off and I was doing just fine.
Van, while I appreciate your view, there is always a flip side to your truth. For instance, I earned an MBA and in 2008 couldn’t get a job with my state government even though I was over qualified for many jobs. It literally took me 10 months to get any job. I had no option but to apply for jobs as unemployment was high. When I finally did get a job, ppl I worked with had been there for years and I had to fire many because they had no idea how to work anymore. It was atrocious. While it could be viewed as isolated, many new hires were experiencing the same thing within their departments. It was unacceptable.
He did look over those cases. There were those who weren't pardoned. Not but a few. But they were those who committed acts beyond protesting acts. Let's recall, since proven the FBI agents that were in the crowd, that DID provoke the crowd to break windows, and enter the building.
thank God, we blacks getting hired in the future will actually be known as smart and respectable compared to being hired as a poor black person to take 1 or 2 slots before the company get punished by the the government for not having any blacks on the job. we will be hired for our skill level and for our performance instead of a black or brown needing to fill a quota.
Nothing in Life is Promised. In these times and if you live in naiveness that money grows on trees or those that live paycheck to paycheck annd still care about keeping up with Jone's ONLY then will people learn to not roll the dice so much. Save, Save, Save.
Van, WIC isn't affirmative action or dei. I'm totally white but unfortunately I'm a single mother and need help at the moment and I receive WIC. I do understand WIC does go to a good bit of black women, as almost 75% of black households do not have the father in the home. But I don't believe WIC is given to people based on affirmative action or dei. I think those programs are more so programs that take on people based strictly on race/ skin color. WIC and food stamps and such are based on income. I love the hair btw! You've got an old school snoop dog vibe, especially when you wear the eye glasses! You look great! Love you videos! I commented recently by just wanted to say it again- I forgot that I had found you when you were watching music videos I really love! I hadn't even remembered that until you said it in a recent video! You've become such a big name in this arena now that I had forgotten all about it! Good for you! I hope you're proud of yourself!
Van talking about all these black programs and she is talking about going to school free on native American ticket. Then I get to be called ' privileged '. I DID get to use some WIC in the 90s when I was having a rough time.
WIC was started by the Black Panther Party to provide services for low income black children. For the record, food stamps and government assistance programs were made for white Americans. If black people were receiving the most of it, the federal government would have ended it yesterday.
LOOK AT THE BLACK FAMILYS IF THE 1930's 1940's etc before Lyndon B Johnson and The Great Society welfare stuff. The nuclear black families used to stick together worked hard didn't get divorced and definitely didn't take handouts. It used to think the way you did that hey we deserve it where people of color but my whole attitude changed from education and seeing how wrong it was to support that. We learn we grow we educate ourselves.😊😊
There were lots of Black doctors and lawyers before all this race hustling stuff started by LBJ. Now folks will know that a Black man or woman is not just average---they excelled to be in their position. Being good at your job is going to COUNT! Hooray! Finally! We are EQUAL! Now all we need to do is get together and have a huge love vibe. Sound good, Van?
I too lost my job. It was MY responsibility to get another job. This is not communism. It’s capitalism. There’s good sides and hard sides. The fact is that Biden was claiming jobs creations but these were in government. Probably the same jobs that are now being eliminated.
I think they should reinterview all the DEI hire people they put on leave and keep the qualified applicants. Just because they were hired under the program due to their race doesn’t mean they weren’t qualified.
I do feel bad for the people losing their jobs, but I have too being a single mom. No one ever gave me 60days to downsize, move, or whatever I needed to feed my kids. DEI seems like a good thing to many people but I know for a fact I ,a young white, single mother was discriminated against in a small TX town. By a predominantly black staff in the government offices. I will keep these people in my prayers. Having no job is scary,
Have you watched Candace Owen talk about affirmative action? She says it’s a form of racism. She says black peoples are just as capable and shouldn’t be treated as less than
Life is damn tough, get your big boy or girl pants on and grow up, nothing in life is free. You can NOT hurt someone who is really trying and NOT RELYING on other handouts. I have been there, but grew up.
I’m really listening to this and learning a lot. I am white but for yrs I had a black boyfriend and lived in okc, ok. DHS in the city was mainly run by black people. The black people around me got everything and I got cheated lol
After divorce my mother had to put us on welfare. Love that big block of cheese😊. She also went back to school got her RN and got us off welfare. This was early 80s. These programs are important for those who use correctly. No shame.
My dad worked really hard for our family. Other than the GI bill, he never got help from the government. He just worked more jobs and longer hours. The Federal government doesn't have money. They have the people's money. Any help and welfare should always be temporary for emergency situations. The Bible says that if you do not work, you should not eat. This does NOT apply to the elderly or the disabled or children. Having said this, we need work programs, training programs and there needs to be a transition period. Some things should be taken a little more slowly.
This is a good thing. The change in race relations should start in the home. Not, forceful law from Government. Because it just becomes a biased law based off skin color. Which is stupid. We have to see each other the way God sees us.
EEOC was set up over 50 years ago to address opportunities for everyone, including those who had not been afforded the same opportunities before. At some point there is supposed to be some assessment to see if it was achieving the desired results. The problem is that it was never done, new preferred groups were invented and added. As an immigrant who is considered white, I had to suffer through the unfair (for those negatively affected) consequences of this effort. After more than 50 years, maybe it’s time to assess? It should never have been a career of several generations. Just like government welfare programs. It’s supposed to help the less fortunate dog themselves out. By their own merits. Some politicians found it useful to further their own careers and wealth.
If people obtained the jobs when they were expected to be at the job site, I don’t see any reason for them to complain after they are required to do exactly what they signed up to do. They should be thankful they have been able to work from home for the past 4-5 years. Maybe negotiate, if possible. But if I hired someone to be on the job, I’d have a hard time paying someone to be at home. Maybe we can re-interview for the job and salary?
I don"t care about what people think he did the right thing to do because people take advantage of this stuff because that is what it is so people should not get mad and go get jobs and stop depending on the goverment to support you and they need to support thereselfs
I grew up in the East point /college Park area in the Atlanta, we were very poor. I am white/Lebanese my daddy was called a Sand N___er all his life and we never got any help. My husband died in a car accident when he was 34 and left 3 young children 5,3,1. I was left to raise these kids and I never could get help. I had a little social security from my husband but I had to work my ass off to survive. I think Dei and Affirmative action is totally unfair. My kids never went to college! You won't believe how poor white people get discriminated against!
this is so liberating ---we all are PEOPLE after all
one nation under God

Social services (not life long socialist programs) are for all people; especially those who need that little extra help. Hard work, family first & God fearing is how one makes it happen.
I'M BACKING TRUMP
I got mad respect for you. This is how parents need to behave. Set the example. Good moral fiber
Being a man of hard work an honor in yourself is a strong characteristic in a man .
When I was growing up and worked hard and got noticed, it gave me alot of honor , which made me want to do better
They like to call it toxic masculinity and that men should be ashamed. It is the best quality in a man to provide for his family.
Masculinity is not TOXIC ,it's necessary 💯@@cicibingham6217
Just go out there and do your best! Van I think you and your wife are doing a phenomenal job with your kids!!!
Tony Evans once said, "We all came over on different boats, but we're all in the same boat now".

Sounds like you need to be our next President. All sorts of accomplishments. Thank you for sharing your story.
It will be fine. We should be judged and hired by our Character and our abilities, not by our race, gender or religion. PERIOD....I will not fly on a plane because DEI. HELL NO
Excatly...
Those white pilots that have 90% of the recently fatal crashes were DEI?
💯
Love your channel! Better than most journalists on lamestream media. You’re a head of your time at the right time.
I believe this is actually helpful in the full scope of outcomes
An Honor to listen to your words of wisdom.
You have an amazing history and heritage. So glad your aunt and cousin were able to take you in and raise you. Don't children change your world?! Crushing it my brother in Christ❤️❤️❤️.

Much Respect to you and your wife Sir . Your beliefs and attitude are the fabric of decency , honesty and the American way . Thank you for being who you are .
Here we go... the foolishness is about to start. They can't help but to keep the craziness going. LBJ could've cared less
VAN U THE MAN...SPEAK THE TRUTH
Keep it up VAN! 100% correct. As a man thinks, so is he! Make a decision to do what's right and work hard doing it.
Love your story! You used the system just like it was intended to be used❤
Remember the pipeline workers.
Amen to that Van, I struggle daily financially and sometimes go without eating, but I work hard my entire life and some days are better than others. God provides to those who believe and work hard.
Your t-shirt is perfect!
God bless you 🙏
Preach it 🙌 👏 🙏 you're 💯 spot on‼️‼️ you're the MAN!!!!!! You're doing what a good man does,take care of your family!!!!💖💝
LOVE your guest! She is brilliant and I think you should do a monthly (or more frequent) show together. Both of your personalities go well together for this sort of platform. But yeah, love her candidness and insight.
Props to you for stepping up and doing what was best for your family. Too few people are willing to do that. That says a lot about you as a person.
That is the problem with these government programs, they are like pulling teeth to get rid of . This has to stop now
She's native American like me so what she benefit of is tribal not from new action
Not affirmative action
Awesome. Racism isn’t fixed with racism!!
DEI. Didnt Earn It
I’m Asian and I have gone to black businesses but the quality of services they provided were substandard.
The Supreme Court already ended affirmative action in Universities entrance policy.
I really love your channel brother, I've watched you evolve as I was on the same journey. I'm getting your coarse and hope to thank you personally for helping me stay sane
Wic is not a dei program. Its income based, not race
Absolutely correct!!
I should say , lived life of personal sacrifices with God
I pray for everyone that the outcome given time people will see that he is doing this for the people
❤you are a brilliant man❤
I love how u break it down on a common sense level❤
Justice for all.
Thank you so much for your fair views. I like that you point out that we need to hear most sides equally.
I actually saw this affirmative
I'm a Multiethnic American, these racial laws should not have ever been implemented. As Trump said, "Politicians have wanted to get rid of these laws for years." With that being said, other politicians didn't have the testicular fortitude to take action.
They won’t lose contracts if the work is being done.
Van, Amazing Bro, responsibilties will change you
Thanks for introducing me to Micca. I'm definitely gonna start checking her out!
PLEASE PLEASE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! UR HELPING MORE PEOPLE THAN U KNOW
Its like getting a job with the ' big three ' where you might make 2 or even 3 times what you used to and going right out and buying a new car and a mortgaged house.
Then it doesnt last or you get laid off in 6 months.
You screwed up and thought you were set for life when it was a gamble.
Excatly. Don't spend it til you have it to spend
Getting rid of affirmative action is putting MLK s vision to work by the content of your character and not the color of your skin
30 years ago , I went through when DEI first gave DEI my job, was told have to give it to someone other than white!!! Well I am not white , I am mix Indian and lost my job. I was mad then. But got over it. Be careful and love GOD be blessed
Watching you in Australia 🦘 excellent interview 👍
There's absolutely nothing wrong about using Govnmt benefits while you're working toward a goal that gets you off those benefits.
That's what the benefits are for, a hand up to help you not a hand out to support you
i agree- and you really sometimes just need these benefits. BENEFITS STAY THE SAME
Amazing. finally racism can come to an end
Congratulations on Nyah ❤
Accidentally hit post. I saw the problem back when I was in high school. We had a video of 2 workers, one black, one white. Awesome word. Me too. I was 19 and got married had 2 babies. We divorced. 23 years old.

I hear you Van.

They should be focused on looking for alternative employment, they have more than enough notice.
she is so right but it is scary to not pay taxes cause they come after u so fast

Hi Micca!
