Why curse of agony last? It needs to ramp up, the perfect time to use it at a boss would be Incinerate - > immolate - > agony - > searing pain - > corruption - > drain life
CoA is worse dps and so worst threat builder. Yea it does ok when it hits full duration but many times mobs wont even live 24s, bosses ofc live. And this is somewhat because of max rank at this level. - corruption rank 3 is at lvl 24 (222damage/18s) - CoA rank 2 is at lvl 18 (180damage/24s)
EA is still in the ”experimental” category in my lab. It might be good at least against harder content where mobs die slow. Im going to look into this at some point. :)
I think there are many guides that point out the optimal talenta and runes for phase 2 warlocks. I have lately focused on solo content but I think best is to go full fire/dps and then just meta rune. But ill take this into consideration! :)
Although 3/3 Improved Imp will improve your combined Warlock+Pet DPS it will Not improve your personal threat as a tank (unfortunately). Providing you can get an Incinerate off 1st I've found running LoF for trash is much better for AoE threat (25% Incinerate + 40% LoF) and spam SP, don't even bother DoT trash. For bosses you want to replace LoF with Master Channeler, obviously.
While raid dps is getting higher all the time from now on, dotting basic mobs is as you said is kinda pointless. You could drop imp corruption to 4/5 or 3/5. Lake of fire is turning to be meta at this point. The guide tho is to get you going and once you master the playstyle you can start doing different stuff. Good comment bro! :)
If you have a over 30dps wanding might be worth in some situations. Alltho life tap gives you loads of mana in meta and healing rarely is a problem. Searing pain etc surely makes more threat than wanding.
i'm curious about itemization, like should I try to stack a lil agility for tanking? right now i'm just doing normal sm/ruin gear. some +shadow dmg gear too
Shadow damage will make your drain life better. Tho getting more fire damage will make your Searing pain, incinerate and immolate do more threat. Agility is a good stat since every point gives you 10 armor in meta and a bit dodge. I think you shouldnt stack only agi tho, but its a nice bonus if you cant get any spell damage items in that slot.
Usually I just lifetap/searing pain and havent wanded at all. Wanding can be an option tho, dont know where that falls compared to casting if your healer just can heal or your selfheal is up.
I have used 3 specs. 5/5 imp corruption, 3/3 improved imp, 5/5 drain life. Now im transitioning to these builds th-cam.com/video/uMBuStx7z1s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6w2BJa-OuyxNE3kt
Have you tried the fire specc? Its very good what comes to threat. You can also try to focus on melee mobs instead casters since caster mobs do almost the same damage to tanks as they do other. That way you can keep aggro better at least the mobs that are meaningful.
But can the tank strat for 3 targets be executed without issues? Cause warlock taunt is melee, i would have to run to third target, having first two targets with me... this wont make the melee dds happy and causing chaos:( beside that question, good guide !
If you are in melee you can taunt, if not -> searing pain spam the third target. Melee can move a bit as you move too. Usually the target pickups happen in only few seconds and the third target is still ”around”. Youll get the feeling how to manage threat in these situations as you play more.
This was an amazing video. You covered literally everything beautifully. You definitely got my subscribe and can't wait to see more videos from you
Thanks!!! This means a lot for me!

great guide.. I'm leveling a warlock alt and it might just end up being my main. you hit all the important things I wanted to know! TY!
Nice to hear you liked it!
Wlock tanking is definitely worth a shot :)
Thank you very much for this informative video
Really liked your guide, Subbed!
Well done man! Thanks!
Good guide bro !
good video, i was wondering why i have charge too... maybe useful in a rare case...
Yea in pvp or if you are in a hurry. I very rarely use it. Maybe worth of take it off your bars completely.
Great video, I’d like to ask you about running everlasting affliction for large mob pulls / speed running dungeons

Can you make an updated guide for phase 2 tanking? What talent spec and runes are you running?
I think there are many guides that point out the optimal talenta and runes for phase 2 warlocks. I have lately focused on solo content but I think best is to go full fire/dps and then just meta rune. But ill take this into consideration! :)
Great video! What's the add on to move your status bar to the center?
You can just unlock your character portrait by right clicking it or use Move anything-addon. :)
beautiful UI - got an import string? :)
Thx! Dont have yet but ill see if I can get something worked.
Tanking at range is fine but threshold for being overaggro'd is higher in melee range.
Hey, nice to see good videos showing up again. Another addon question: what's the one that's tracking your incinerate dmg buff?
Thx! Its a weak aura.
good stuff
Heavy Dynamite from Engineering is good way to get AOE threat on trash

What about wanting? Searing pain spam takes a lot of mana

What is the addon you have for the healthbars above the enemy heads?
It is called Plater.
Do you not wand things to save mana/life taps while dota are running?
Usually I just lifetap/searing pain and havent wanded at all. Wanding can be an option tho, dont know where that falls compared to casting if your healer just can heal or your selfheal is up.

What talents do you use?
I have used 3 specs.
5/5 imp corruption, 3/3 improved imp, 5/5 drain life.

I hate tanking with enhance dps in the group…I just straight up tell them to expect to die.
