I say that Blizzard should add a Squirrel battle pet into the game called Hazelnut. If it wasn't for discovering Hazel's pet battle strat videos years ago, I probably wouldn't have gotten into pet battling.
The tiles also remember the correct food placements. So if you only manage to put some of the food down on the correct tiles, you only need to put food on the remaining correct ones. As an example: the guide I used had two Meaty Morsels instead of two Steaks, so when I put the Steak down on the spot I'd previously put the Meaty Morsel, the secret completed.
Can confirm as well. One of my foods despawned from my bag so i waited until all the food disappeared and started over. Got my Jenafur on the second try. :)
ATTENTION DRUIDS: If you go into flight form (class hall version is the one I tested) you do /sit on the ground while targeting Jenafur she will climb on your back! And for 2 min ish she will fly through the skys with you! This is besides her normal /sit interaction.
Omg, maybe I should get Genny just to try that out. Also I remember the kitten from ghost sabers in val'shara did something special, I wonder if he has the same animation of sitting on your back. UPD no, doesnt work with saber kitten
I tried this, and, Jenafur, like a true cat, does not care. She will not sit on my back no matter what I'll do. I tried sitting, re summoning and mounting and dismounting in all possible combinations I can think of, as well as with pressing the X key and using /sit while targeted and not targeted, and she will not do it.
@@Giftedbryan I only did it in druid order hall flight form. 1: enter flight form 2: press your sit button so your wings arent flapping 3: target jenafur 4: /sit 5: wait a sec... Then she should be on your back. Its possible this was an unintended glitch and the fun police have shut it down.
This is so true lol. Hazel continues to be the only source of WoW news I can stand. You can hear her passion for WoW. That wow couple lol, they annoy the piss out of me.. it's almost like they don't even play the game.
What was the command? Hazel says it quite fast. Also, Hazel is the best I do miss her Pet Battle strategies, but I am sure what she is doing now gives her a much larger audience. More people to love her.
A helpful note: you don't have to actually reset the instance if you mess up the placement of the meats. You can simply wait out the timer of the food on the floor and regather the items :) Had to do this myself the first time placing the food.

Another awesome video by Hazel. It worked perfectly, and your visuals and audible instructions were invaluable. The only thing I will say, is that you don't have to restart instance if some of your food expired, just wait a few minutes and it all respawns exactly where you found it. The other tidbit that I found out, is that if you already started putting food down in squares, and the last 3 food de-spawned before completion, just go back and grab the food you missed and put them in the correct squares and BAM! It's done, you get the music and hear Jen somewhere in the room. Easy peasey.
Thank you for a wonderful guide. I couldn’t have done it without your help! The first time I tried this, the Slathered Rib disappeared from my bags before I could place it. I then realized that with this plan, we’re placing the items in the order opposite from how we picked them up. As there are 2 Fishy Bits and 2 Juicy Drumsticks, you can of course choose the “older” one of each to place first, but there’s only one Rib and placing it nearly last risks losing it due to time. What worked for me was to start placing items on the Opera Hall floor at the other end. This way, I’m placing them in the exact order in which I collected them, the order they appear in my bag. Definitely helps to have a hard copy diagram (handwritten or screenshot from this excellent video) of the opera hall floor in front of you as you place the items, with tiles marked out in advance. Walk through the whole sequence before picking up anything. Use any speed boosts you’ve got, particularly when leaving Moroes’ Banquet Hall and also when leaving the side room after picking up the last items. Timing on this is very tight!

Thanks for the guide, made it very easy. just a couple points to bring up; 1. Jenafur refused to sit in my lap as a dwarf. could be that certain races' laps are too awkward to find comfort in. she also yawned when I told her a joke. 2. As previously stated, each item picked up has a 5 minute expiration, and once placed that timer seems to reset. This theoretically allows some wiggle room, depending on how fast you move, of course. *My advice to anyone feeling anxious about completing it in time... relax. you dont have to reset if you goof up. say you start to place your items down, but mess up on one. just know you have 5 minutes, from the time you placed the 1st item, to correct your mistake. skip over your "mistake" square and complete the puzzle as much as possible. even if you dont make it back in time, at least you got more familiar with the puzzle, and simply wait a few mins to collect them again.

Just completed this, thanks for the guide! In case anyone is wondering, I did this level 50 post Shadowlands and with the scaling adjustment. The enemies in the dungeon are 46 Elite but go down like cake and shouldn't be a problem clearing this area by yourself (as long as you don't pull an insane amount). I also had a fishy bits time out in my inventory before I could place the final one, so had to go back to get another piece. When I went back to the audience area, the food I placed disappeared BUT it still keeps track of where you placed it! So I placed my last Fishy Bits and had the meow occur with the music and was able to get me kitty cat (can also rename it too!).
I'm a LITTLE late to this but...OMG. I didn't do a practice run first and used up all my time going "wait where was that", but practiced once and then got it with plenty of time to spare. Thank you!
You don't need to reset the instance just wait for the food to de-spawn off the tiles and you can go and recollect the food bits from the locations again. I was able to get jenafur from the same instance after 5 tries because I was an idiot LOL.

Thank you for this guide. I’ve been bored trying to figure things out til shadowlands and this helped. I messed up a few times because I didn’t watch far enough into the video to see that you actually walked through each part even though you had a screen shot. I just assumed I could follow that but I needed a little bit more guidance. Also I don’t know if this was just a bug for me or what but when I did the placement for the three at the top, I actually spawned jenafur before placing the last fishy bit. Regardless thanks for this, I love your videos!
@Hazel If you make a mistake in the foods, they DO respawn after a few minutes, so if you make a mistake just wait a little so you do not have to reset the instance and kill all the trash again!
I tested some things....if you mess up. All you have to do wait til the food you put down and the ones in your bags to despawn. Then all the food will be exactly where you picked it up the first time. No reset needed! Also once you spawn it...others who have talked to Amaya can come in your instance, pet and get the pet. I posted mine on group finder and saved a ton of people some time. That being said, it was easy to do and I enjoyed the fun getting it.

Just a heads up, unless your instance bugs with either opera boss OR and NPC directly in the path shown that just wont die, you DO NOT have to reset the instance if you mess up. the food does have a 5 min timer once placed, and if you mess up, wait about 10 min. the food WILL respawn in its original spot after a few min. no need to leave. we goofed getting the order right ALOT and never left the instance before we figured this out.
You do NOT have to reset the instance if you mess up. The spawn points for the food reset after about 5-6 minutes upon picking said food item up. I did this on Heroic difficulty. If you mess your route up, just go take a potty break or stretch your legs, come back, and everything will be back up.
i love that secrets like these exist in WoW, i remember seeing how to get the Westfall Chicken on CHEAT that aired on G4, and i just loved that i got a special pet for something so simple and so silly. Jenafur is even better than that to be sure, but i just love things like this and i'm determined to unearth every secret in Azeroth and the Shadowlands.
Dude i remember watching that episode. Thats how i learned about the chicken and went get it. Felt good being one of a few people running around with a chicken and bein asked how i got it
This was great, thank you! I had a bad moment right at the end, when I had trouble finding the kitty even after using the /tar command. Worked great and I have already experienced the disturbing comments from the cat. 😂
I can confirm that you do not have to reset the instance if you messed up the food placement. the food will despawn and you can just re-gather the food items and replace them in the appropriate place/order.
Also, if you go with a group, only one needs gather and lay out the food (with a group of four we all got the pet after the first picked up and placed the food). I didn't test it, but I would assume you could split up the gathering of food so long as in the end it's placed where it has to be.
Great video! Thank you! One thing I'll mention is that when I went to place the ribs by right clicking, they seemed to disappear without me being able to place them. The same thing happened for the last fishy bits. I was able to complete the task by running back and regathering those two items and then completing the pattern. Not sure what happened there..
Asmon had the great idea of putting down Raid markers on each tile where the food needed to placed before he went and got the food.I thought that was a great idea
I did everything right and at the end some big music came on and then the cat came into the room by a bench. I clicked the little gold gear and when it was done loading ..well I got nothing in my pet journal. I even tried to go back to redo it and no food was there for me. I even waited a week to try it again and no meat is there for me. I put a ticket in wow and it's like my ticket is no there neither. So frustrated!!
I messed up placement and it allowed me to just pick up replacement pieces for the two that were improperly placed so I didn't have to reset the instance.
For the part where you lay the food on the floor I find it easier and it made more calm to put raid marks on the tiles where I needed to put the food. You just make a group in group finder and turn your party of 1 in a raid of 1 and put the markings on the floor.
I messed this up the first time. I did not need to leave and reset, just wait for all the food to time out and go pick it up in the exact same spots again
If you mess up you should still be able to place the right food on the same tile. When I was doing it I faced the wrong way and placed the food in the wrong spot then started panicking xD also if the duration on the food in your bags expires you can pick it up again by just going back to the place where you found it and clicking on it again ^^
I LITERALLY NEVER KNEW CAT COMPANIONS SAT ON YOU!!! they will sit on your back in stag and lunarwing form too!! i am literally overjoyed right now!!!!!!! the only unique pet interaction i ever saw was the dread raven hatching forming a little heart emote when you mount on the dread raven/fel corrupted dread raven mounts!! now i wonder how many little easter egg type companion pet interactions like that there are that i don't even know about ;___;
Thanks for guide! Due to the spare time waiting for the prepatched, I took a side trip to Karazhan and got Jenafur. Just one thing to note, if you are in Shadowform and sit, Jenafur will NOT sit in your lap! Realizing this, I tried it with other felines, it seems that sitting in your lap is NOT comfortable for a pet if you are in Shadowform! lol..
Also be sure to click each food item more than once so your bags are good and full before placement I had not clicked enough and ran out of food and hence had to start the food placement over!
The first piece of fishy bits that I picked up disappeared from my bag before I set it down. It respawned where I had originally picked it up, in front of Moroes and I was able to complete the puzzle without resetting the instance and starting over.

Had do wait for respawn several times(food all respawn multiple times after the timer is up so take your time), very helpful tip

3:59 To make this part easier, you can make a group in the group finder and use raid markers to mark the squares before getting the food.
Also note that food does not stack, you'll need 8 spaces in your bag to do this.

You can use raid target markers to highlight the tiles you need to plop the food into.

I can confirm that you do not have to reset the instance if you messed up the food placement. the food will despawn and you can just re-gather the food items and replace them in the appropriate place/order.

Also, if you go with a group, only one needs gather and lay out the food (with a group of four we all got the pet after the first picked up and placed the food). I didn't test it, but I would assume you could split up the gathering of food so long as in the end it's placed where it has to be.

Great video! Thank you! One thing I'll mention is that when I went to place the ribs by right clicking, they seemed to disappear without me being able to place them. The same thing happened for the last fishy bits. I was able to complete the task by running back and regathering those two items and then completing the pattern. Not sure what happened there..

If you're nervous to mess up, you can also use World Markers and place those out on the floor first to make the Pattern and then go and get the food.

Asmon had the great idea of putting down Raid markers on each tile where the food needed to placed before he went and got the food.I thought that was a great idea
I did everything right and at the end some big music came on and then the cat came into the room by a bench. I clicked the little gold gear and when it was done loading ..well I got nothing in my pet journal. I even tried to go back to redo it and no food was there for me. I even waited a week to try it again and no meat is there for me. I put a ticket in wow and it's like my ticket is no there neither. So frustrated!!
I messed up placement and it allowed me to just pick up replacement pieces for the two that were improperly placed so I didn't have to reset the instance.

For the part where you lay the food on the floor I find it easier and it made more calm to put raid marks on the tiles where I needed to put the food. You just make a group in group finder and turn your party of 1 in a raid of 1 and put the markings on the floor.

I messed this up the first time. I did not need to leave and reset, just wait for all the food to time out and go pick it up in the exact same spots again

If you mess up you should still be able to place the right food on the same tile. When I was doing it I faced the wrong way and placed the food in the wrong spot then started panicking xD also if the duration on the food in your bags expires you can pick it up again by just going back to the place where you found it and clicking on it again ^^
I LITERALLY NEVER KNEW CAT COMPANIONS SAT ON YOU!!! they will sit on your back in stag and lunarwing form too!! i am literally overjoyed right now!!!!!!!
the only unique pet interaction i ever saw was the dread raven hatching forming a little heart emote when you mount on the dread raven/fel corrupted dread raven mounts!! now i wonder how many little easter egg type companion pet interactions like that there are that i don't even know about ;___;
Thanks for guide! Due to the spare time waiting for the prepatched, I took a side trip to Karazhan and got Jenafur. Just one thing to note, if you are in Shadowform and sit, Jenafur will NOT sit in your lap! Realizing this, I tried it with other felines, it seems that sitting in your lap is NOT comfortable for a pet if you are in Shadowform! lol..

Also be sure to click each food item more than once so your bags are good and full before placement I had not clicked enough and ran out of food and hence had to start the food placement over!
I dont know why but for some reason if I do /sit she is not jumping on me... maybe because I am a Dracthyr and it doens't work with them :/
The first piece of fishy bits that I picked up disappeared from my bag before I set it down. It respawned where I had originally picked it up, in front of Moroes and I was able to complete the puzzle without resetting the instance and starting over.
