      MisterJonesification This channel has only just recently begun to release the clips. The channel is owned by The Great Brian Last. He's the producer of JCE. He's also the creator and owner of the 6:05 Super Podcast. Most recently, he has been producing Austin Idol's new podcast.
      The clips have been uploaded at a breakneck pace. Prior to these, I don't think there was a concerted effort to host and release stuff related to JCE. Where there wasn't one, folks made them elsewhere.
      No shots at the Talking Sense channel folks or anyone else. It's just good that Corny has an "official archivist".

      Same, I started watching in the summer of '98 and then I watched Raw and Nitro religiously and holy shit could you see the major decline in quality from the time Shitstain came to WCW in the Fall of '99 to the summer of 2000 when he had his meltdown at Bash at the Beach. I was still a relatively new wrestling fan and still kind of a mark but even then I knew that his booking was ass and ruined WCW. People can say the Fingerpoke of Doom ruined it but I'd say in the Spring and summer of '99 it was on the rebound with Crow Sting back and DDP as the heel champ and Hulkster going back to the red and yellow, etc, but that all went down the drain with ShitStain.

  • @Dock76

    I think there is room for comedy and the illogical spotfests which indy marks cream over. But it should never overshadow the serious story lines and the matches they're being built around. Once you get to those matches, they should be worked in a certain way that tells the appropriate story. So to simplify all of this, I agree with Jim.

    • @KHayes666
      @KHayes666 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      That pretty much was WWF in 1998 and 1999 under Russo when you had the top stars they did. Russo and Ferrera did the storyline miscarriages, Blonde Bytch Project and Beaver Cleavage while you had Austin vs Undertaker with AC/DC sponsoring the title track and Rock vs Austin at Wrestlemania. Vince McMahon Jr was able to keep the focus on the actual money drawing events that Russo was unable to do in WCW. Seriously, did anyone other than Russo himself believe that Russo booking himself to beat Ric Flair in a cage was going to sell tickets in Flair's territory?

    • @richiehunt5097
      @richiehunt5097 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It's more about avoiding the stuff that makes pro wrestling look like a work. I don't know if 'serious' is the best term here. Wrestling fans have had people brow beating them it's fake for years...they don't need the wrestlers and promotions to participate with letting them know it is fake.
      And the more people really believe two guys don't like each other, even if the fans know it is fake, the more wrestling sells. What doesn't sell is illogical heel turns, illogical swerves, over-choreographed spots that require great care so to not injure the other wrestler, vignettes that force bad acting wrestlers to act out scenes, etc.

    • @DIESEL0759
      @DIESEL0759 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@richiehunt5097
      It's an age thing. If your only experience (or first) was "WWF Attitude", you'll think great wrestling involves nude girls with huge fake boobs and lots of swearing and guys that randomly flip around and that's the way to get over!
      I also notice that the guys that are most derisive about a high flying style is guys who could never leave the ground. The big lard asses. Having said that, there's a difference between a high-flying offense and just randomly performing syncronized swimming where (as pointed out), it looks choreographed because they do the exact same flip at the exact same time. People don't get that difference. Shawn Michaels has a high flying offense. So did Road Warrior Hawk (who matched it with power), Bret Hart, lots of guys, but that was the difference. They could work several styles and not just rely on flying around the ring aimlessly. Lots of kids think the key to great wrestling is just jumping off things. Like everything else, it needs to be relevant to the match. The other thing that looks fake and choreographed is when you have two or more guys fighting and a third climbs up to the top and dives off, and everyone stops the second the guy is on top, and holds out their arms, ready to catch him. You can time drop kicks and clotheslines and punches and everything else, but when a guy steps on a turnbuckle, all action must cease, so you can stand there looking stupid.

    I stopped watching wrestling right around the time Russo started. For years i didn't realize what happened ... all i knew was that wrestling suddenly turned into a soap opera, not athletic entertainment with some killer storylines. Only years later did i realize it was that clown - and those who supported him that torpedoed the genre. Shame. Even when the K-fabe was broken, it was still entertaining. That is until russo got his hands on it.

    • @Panwere36
      @Panwere36 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While there has always been a "soap opera" element to pro wrestling, I am going to seriously call out what is proven by just the history of the business I have seen in 35 years of watching it.
      Vince Russo didn't "create" anything, he just did what Vince did, and took credit. Vince Russo is a stereotype come to life, a New York reject who got lucky and was able to bs himself into a job he wasn't qualified for. He is what Patrick Bateman would be if he wasn't the least bit interesting.
      Not a bit of the "Attitude Era" was actually fresh, in fact. Almost every story line was stoling from a long successful independent promotion.. even the Austin vs McMahon feud was a rip off of several others.. including the war between Eddie Gilbert and owner Bill Watts in the MidSouth/UWF only Eddie was the heel and Watts was the face.
      The only contribution Russo made was that skank Sable.. and no one in the company could stand her when she was in the ring or opened her mouth.

      To save you the trouble of saying "They had Austin, Rock, DX, etc" remember that at different times since they have also had all those guys back to one degree or another and it wasn't near as good.
      Next you may "but PG! That's why it sucks now!" - The show was PG up until early 98. Member how awesome 97 was?
      Finally you may for some reason say "They're a publicly traded company now!" Last I checked they went public in 99 right in the middle of the Attitude Era.

      Despite My Better Judgement You seem to be more worried about my possible rebuttals than you are about giving me anything to rebut. Well, I'll just rebut the rebuttals you tried to pigeonhole me into. 1)Yes, the talent was there, as there was in WCW when Russo was driving it into the ground. 2)PG? Yes, wrestling had pretty much always, before AE n ECW, been PG (been watching for 30 years). 3) Being publicly traded only gives an insight as to why everything came to be so scripted n sanitized. Y'know, besides Vince being a filter, you wanna know what else there were? People who knew wrestling that could take a clusterfuck of a Russo idea, n make it somewhat make sense. I know he had that in WCW, but yet n still, there wasn't somebody above him going, "what are you doing? that's TOO fucking stupid...let's take this from that n go there."

      Despite My Better Judgement I forgot you also mentioned the era just pre-Russo being in the doldrums...yeah, I'm sure the steroid trial, along with the uncertainty of Vince's, hence, the WWE/F's future played no part in any of it.

      All you have done there is bash Russo. You haven't explained how McMahon is this supposed excellent filter. Also the reason I brought up those points is because they are the go-to for WWE apologists/Cornette fanboys.

    I don't know what this goofball talks about. Most of the people in the wrestling business don't despise Vince Russo. Jim Cornette obviously still can't get over the fact that both Vince McMahon (WWE) and Dixie Carter (TNA) chose Vince Russo over him when it came to Creative.

      Look where that got them. Vince ran back to Cornette and Dixie annihilated TNA. It doesn't help your argument when you echo what Russo said almost verbatim.

      Pugnator I thank you for giving me something to laugh at. You copied Russo's attempt at a defense so thoroughly I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to sue you for plagiarism.

      Dixie chose Russo over Cornette and TNA went to shit. Is that really something to brag about?
      That's like Pugnator saying to me "Bahahaha your TV show got cancelled in favor of The Happy and Crappy Show hahahah" nevermind the fact The Happy and Crappy Show staring two clowns got cancelled after 4 episodes. Yeah I really got shown didn't I? lol will Russo's Retards ever learn how to think?

      I never really got a logic behind the "chose Russo over Cornette in TNA in the creative" that these guys keep yapping about because Russo was a writer in TNA while Cornette was a producer and agent....both had entirely different positions and could not be replaced by each other cuz Russo didnt agent any matches and Cornette never had the pencil to begin with so how did "Dixie choose Russo over cornette in the creative"

      Mike Trough Because Cornette WAS part of the creative and Jarrett paid him extra to be an agent. Russo wanted to do his Jerry Springer shit but Cornette was in his way plus knew Dixie Carter didnt know a wristlock from a wristwatch so he banked on her taking his word because she didnt know about his WCW fiasco. Again, look what happened after Cornette was gone, TNA went to shit. Great legacy Russo fans!
