      I was 16 when I first got saved was so in love with him and this story on a public transit bus on my way to school brought tests to my eyes and have me goosebumps and still does to this very day 32 years later . Thank you Lord Jesus . You are the best thing that ever happened to me . I love you .

    I love the account of this event on the day Jesus was raised form the dead. I envy these 2 guys who experienced this appearing of Jesus on that day. Please return soon Lord Jesus.

    This is my favorite story in the Gospels. I’ll be preaching on this on Dec 5,2021. Pray the Lord will guide me in what He would have me bring to His people.

    I was just 16 yrs old when I first got saved (1990) and this story to this day is my favorite in the whole Bible and brings teats to my eyes and gives me goosebumps everytime .
    Jesus I can't wait to meet you officially face to face . I love you lord !

    I have been lifting the name of Jesus almost everywhere I go for over 40 years, I am no theologen, cant even spell the word, but I know Jesus and moore importantly, I am known by Him. Lift his name, Pray as it were in secret in His name and see if He wont reward you oppenly. The good news of the gospel is, You can know Him.

    My prayer request is that GOD perfect will& purpose be accomplished in my life; & for a supernatural breakthrough; and for God's glory to be revealed in me according to Roman's 8:18

    Great to be in the word, Chuck is a Kool guy,and a great Bible teacher,!!! But it's the word that became flesh and dwelt among us!!!

    I always thought of the recognition coming from His distinct way of blessing the bread or how He broke it.

      May have had His face covered as travelers on a dusty road sometimes still do in Israel.

      This comes incredibly late but Joseph Prince Ministries has a teaching of this. He shares that Jesus veiled himself to encourage believers (ie. those who have not seen him in the flesh - those who have not seen yet believe) because Jesus Himself expounded about Himself in the word to them, and did not reveal Himself - "Hi, I am resurrected - look at my nail pierced hands" but he still made it a point to show that seeing Him in the word is what made their hearts burn and not seeing Him raise from the dead in person.
      The disciples were also disappointed that He was not the one who would be the king in the political sense and take over the Roman rule, he (Joseph Prince) shares that they were hoping that Jesus was going to be the king and were disappointed when He died - their focus was on Him being their king and in a sense, they were focused on the wrong thing and their hearts and mind were clouded.
      It might be different teaching about the Holy Communion - but he also shares that the disciples eyes were only opened when Jesus broke His body/ partook of the Holy Communion together with them - that the very moment that they ate and drank of His broken body and bood, that knew/saw that they were talking with Him all along.

      When I was studying the Emmaus story, I asked the Lord why He chose to restrain the eyes of the two disciples such that they couldn’t recognize Him (Luke 24:13-35). I asked Him, “Wouldn’t it have been better for them to see You with Your nail-pierced hands?” Wouldn’t it have been better if Jesus had walked down the busiest streets of Jerusalem, lifted up His hands, and hollered, “Yo! Everyone, check this out!”
      But Jesus knew that doing that would not produce true faith. He revealed to me that it was more important for the disciples to see Him in the Word than to see Him in person.
      Wow, those words brought so much hope and encouragement to my heart. If the faith of the disciples was based on them seeing Jesus physically in the flesh, then what hope do we have today?
      Jesus purposefully restrained their eyes so that they would see Him first in the Scriptures. That places you and me on equal ground and with equal opportunity as the two disciples. Jesus wants us all to see Him in the Word.
      God’s Word tells us that “faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ” (Rom. 10:17 NASB). This means that the more you hear Jesus unveiled, expounded upon, and pointed to in the Scriptures, the more faith will be imparted to your heart to believe everything God’s Word says about you.
      Could it be that the reason many believers are still living in defeat today is that Jesus has not been unveiled in the Scriptures to them?
      The gospel is all about Jesus. It’s not about right doing. It’s all about right believing about Jesus that makes a difference in people’s lives.
      The apostle Paul says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith’” (Rom. 1:16-17).
      That’s the gospel that I am not ashamed of. I pray that you will experience your own Emmaus Road journey as you open up the Scriptures and allow His Word to bathe your heart in the warmth of His loving grace and tender mercies. It’s truly all about Jesus!"

    He obviously altered His face so they could not recognize Him. Why would He not also alter the nail holes?? The way I first read it, is still how I read that Scripture; they recognized Him by the way that He broke the bread, i.e., like when He multiplied it, and all the other times He broke bread, especially the upper room, not by any physical feature.

    0:45 Mark explains briefly why they did not recognize Jesus:
    Afterward Jesus appeared in a different form (!) to two of them while they were walking in the country. (Mark 16:12, New International Version)

    Who is still looking in the world for Jesus to appear?
    Any different today?
    Christ is born again, over and over in each of us.
    Christ is in the midst of us.
    We are the kingdom of God.
    If we suffer and roll away that stone, bow down and enter the tomb. Put to death the old man, seek Christ within. Seek and you shall find. Christ in us is the hope of Glory.
    We suffer to enter into the Glory of God.
    When we are on our knees, that's when we look up and call out to God.
    Prayer, ask, seek.
    God's Will be done
    All Glory to God.
    ✨💛✨🕊️🙏🏻🙌🏻

    I have a feeling that our physical appearance is enhanced after resurrection. We're better looking 😆 that's good news for many of us 😃 lol

    I get it probably think any similarity or resemblance is grief playing tricks on you so it takes a confirmation of some kind for them to say wait a second this is Jesus same as Mary.

      I suspect He was clean shaven upon His return, to symbolise His new mission, to the gentiles. He is coming soon, be ready at every fall Feasts period. 🙂

    Cleopas has been said to Be HIS Uncle.. Tradition has Cleopas to Be Joseph's brother.. most of Jesus Apostles were family members, extended family members Mostly

    I believe they don't recognize Jesus because He in his glorified body not because His face remains disfigured. When we are in our glorified bodies I doubt we'd be recognized either. This is one of the few places I disagree with Chuck.

    And just think he was only gone three days and they knew him not . What kind of bread did he break ? He said I am the bread that came down from heaven . If I would meet you and walk with you three and a haft years then I was gone three days and came to meet you walking alone a dirt road and started to talk to you , you would at lest know my voice . why did marry recognize him whe I'm going to vent here...I believe we all have the right to worship as we please, but I also know that our country, the United States of America was founded on Christian principles. I believe we should be proud of our country. A quote is a quote. It should not be amended or watered down. The news should not be afraid to use someone’s quote that refers to God.
    On the "Today Show", one of the wives of one of the Navy Seals killed along with the US ambassador in Libya was being interviewed. He asked her what she would say to her children about their dad and how she would want them to remember him. Her answer, and I quote, "His love for Christ", and then continued on with a few other things. Throughout the day and on the MSN homepage, replaying the story, they have edited the "Love of Christ" part out. Why? Because using the word Christ might offend someone! Well now, it's my turn to be offended! I'm offended that they would edit it out. Offended that Christians are asked to tread lightly so as not to offend someone of another religion. This man loved his country and loved God and gave his life for both.
    This Founding Principle is actually embedded in our Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
    I hope every Christian or every person that believes in God who is offended will copy this and paste it to their status.....

    If you read to the end, can I get an "Amen!" n he spoke and called her name she knew him by his voice . Why did his disciples not know his voice it was the same risen lord that talked to both of them right ? Just some things to thank about . The Bible is a spiritual book Amen
