Thank you! All your interviews are very insightful! I appreciate your (and Dr. John's) work very much and admire your investment in this investigation. Not that it matters much but after seeing few comments - I fully agree with his "aha moment"; i think that is exactely what Lori is thinking. It does not justify her horrendous plans and actions or dimishes the fact she premeditated them.
Thank you, kudos, be well and safe🙏🏼 greetings from Belgium❤

I just listened to these over the weekend while I worked. I thought the deep dives on the psychologist aspects were fascinating. I grew up in home with a narcissist parent, so not only were these episodes helpful in understanding this case, it also helped me process my own experiences a bit more. I went to therapy for years, so I'm not doing therapy by YT by any stretch. lol. But understanding it all is kind of a continual unfolding of information, and those episodes unfolded a bit more for.

It seems like Lori never suffered from the cognitive dissonance of being religious but drinking, being religious but lying, being religious but having premarital sex, being religious but being spiteful, being religious but committing adultery, being religious but being malicious and hateful, and finally, being religious but being a serial killer. It’s narcissism dialed up to a million.

Retired detective here. I remember watching the first documentary about this case, seeing and hearing Janice, I could tell that image has always been everything and that nothing is off limits just so long as it doesn’t affect the family’s image and no one talks about it. Later I heard Alex’s first wife talk about his creepy relationship with Lori; and was convinced that there was a history of sexual abuse in that family. This sweet lady’s account of the pubic hair advice is a huge indicator known as age inappropriate sexual knowledge. She confirms my suspicions. These messed up people were created by the father’s perversion and the mother’s denial and willful blindness. They’ll meet Alex and Lori in Hell.

I have to tell you Lauren, your interview with Megan was so gentle and kind. I was mesmerized and so incredibly impressed by the care you took to ensure Megan felt safe as she was sharing such powerful memories. (very therapist-esque! I'm sure Dr. Babe is impressed!) As I was listening, I also thought some of the Cox family reminds me of the Murdaugh's, minus the LDS/religiosity. The importance of appearances at all cost, no one talking about anything, family secrets, father participating in financial schemes, narcissism etc. Fascinating. SO well done. Lori did what she could to keep Tylee away from her dad; and it destroyed him, literally to his early death. Like it wasn't normal for my gather to say that he hated me at age 9 or for my mom to be thrown from moving cars by my father. It was the reason I studied Psychology, to begin with.
With I went to a psychotherapist this year for EMDR therapy. My life has already changed I can hold a full-time job now as a Food technologist which I couldn't before. My GP had me take another mental health written to tear and my scores are normal now when 7 months ago they were extremely severe with CPtSd.
I changed my major from Psychological Science to Biomedical Science which I believe was a trauma attachment to understand or my brain to make sense of everything.

Growing up LDS and subsequently leaving, there are so many things that resonate with my own experiences. When she talks about her family culture being a microcosm of church culture is spot on. Megan sheds so much light on how this whole thing just organically grew from a seed and became something awful.

It is a cult not a church. Jesus died to set us free and not to condemn people . If people in a group are telling you how to live or act, and if you don't follow what this person says you are going to hell, that is a cult. Read your Bible and throw away Mr Smiths book. Mr Smith was just an ordinary man. Get away from his lies and seek truth and have a true relationship with Jesus.

It is always evident when someone has done difficult process work around childhood and family systems, but what really strikes me about this person (Megan Conners) is how willing she is to be truly honest. She comes across without drama or exaggeration, but with authentic emotion. For me, that's an indicator of a person's sincerity - they just try to be rigorously honest (in conversation, they pause and reflect; they make seemingly small corrections; they are graceful and fair). What incredible courage! Megan is an inspiration and even a hero to anyone watching her (to me, for sure) as she navigates this. Thank you for speaking out!

Very powerful testimony from a brave woman. It takes a lot of courage to break away from an abusive and controlling family system and find healing, but you have done it. This interview is a wonderful and honest window into how secretive family systems like this can lead to terrible outcomes, and it is easy to see from your story how Lori and Alex became the people they became; able to commit such horrible crimes.
She and Alex saw how her sister Stacey was treated by her family - like dirt with her death possibly not being accidental, while Barry and the family were living it up in Hawaii. Easy to see how Lori could view/treat her own children with the same callous disregard.

This is very powerful and I think demonstrates how toxic family systems often scapegoat the extreme outliers such as Lori and Alex without acknowledging that the entire nuclear family unit is immoral and dysfunctional.
Sort of like after the fact a lot of those types of families like to proclaim it was totally out of left field and they never endorsed or taught that homicide was okay. But they still don’t see that they laid a foundation for someone with a disordered personality to get there.
It’s like, they didn’t teach Lori that she should kill a crap ton of people, but they clearly taught her she was one of the “special ones” above the rules, that image is everything, that highly manipulative behaviors are rewarded instead of discouraged & so many other toxic building blocks that can lead someone predisposed to having a weaker conscience/moral compass to eventually believe they are even entitled to take the lives of others.
Kudos to you for escaping this family web and getting therapy! You’re setting a great example for many others that might start to see the cracks in their family veneer but feel too locked in to risk the ostracism and rejection that toxic family leaders use to trap everyone.

This letter has been in the making (on my heart, mind and thoughts since May 5th) since I listened to your interview with Lauren. I knew I was going to reach out to you after I heard you share your story and life events with Lauren and with us.
Your courage and ability to share many hard things that you've experienced and the healing journey you have been on has stayed with me on a weekly basis.
I am so proud of you! My heart and my spirit was drawn to you, to pray over you, to ask God to continue to cover you in His great love for you as you continue to seek the truth in Him for you and your life going forward.
There were so many things you shared in that interview with such wisdom and grace coming out of the family dynamics, that I can see and hear that God has truly given you your identity in Christ in Him.
I am so grateful for this for you.
I recently came across Hidden True Crime podcast and your interview was the first episode I listened to..I thought Lauren did an excellent job in how she asked really good questions and was sensitive to you in her responses to you.

She should be a witness. Lori knew exactly what she was doing and thought she would get away with it, she always has.
Chad was throwing out the ideas and Lori latched on to them in the hope of getting everything she wanted. She was stroking his ego and telling him everything to do. He lapped it up.
I also think everyone of the people who were texting about Tammy, Brandon, Tylee and JJ being possessed and needing to die should be charged with conspiracy to murder. Isn't that what Lori is charged with? If she's guilty then they all should be. Arizona should prosecute them as well for Charles. There's much more evidence in that case to get convictions.

I have known 2 women that were former LDS that moved to the south where I live. Both told similar stories about teachings of extreme control over women and female children, secrets kept, women and girls never saying no to a man, experiences of molestation by male church members and other incidents that made them feel uncomfortable or ashamed. Also, I was told by a male relative that worked in Utah and Wyoming around many LDS men back in the 70s and 80s that males were higher status than women and girls to always be obeyed and that its acceptable and encouraged for female members to use sex to indoctrinate more male members. With family more family, friends, neighbors being interviewed now, more about the family members and secrets buried will come out as well as the LDS being more cult than faith.

Joe Ryan who she made so many claims against, when she wanted out of that marriage to be with Charles just suddenly dies 7 months before Charles, is left in his Texas home for weeks with the heat turned up, decaying, can’t find a cause of death….was he Alex’s first?
