This is a strange thought, but I really like the cars in this series. - Gansey's Pig - The Gray Man's Champagne Monstrosity/Abomination/Travesty/Disappointment - Ronan's dream BMW - Adam's tri-coloured Hondayota - Kavinsky's White Mitsubishi(s) - 300 Fox Way's communal car - Gansey's "sensible" Suburban - Even Gansey Sr's French Peugeot They're all just so distinct; like actual characters with personalities.
So Stiefvater does a lot of Derby racing in real life and you can really tell in Ronan's chapters. I just like how she managed to incorporate it into the fantasy feeling.
Kavinsky wasn’t the greywaren , he was a dream thieve , he could only take things out his dreams but Ronan is the greywaren because he can take things from his dreams but he can also talk to the people in his dreams.
When Ronan realized he loved himself and his confession that he felt like Gansey was more of a brother than Declan ever was. I loved the development of their relationship so much. We really got a good look at the different sides of Gansey and how much he needs Glendower for more than material goods, just the boyish need for proof of magic. I really fell in love with Ronan in this book and I loved getting a better look at Adam's motivation and his need for love. I really loved the moments when we saw more of Blue's household and her family dynamics. I just love them all. reading this for the first time :) thank you for an amazing discussion
Gosh, I love this series so much. If I am able to create a story with even a fraction of the impact on others as this story had on me, I’d be unbelievably-happy.
"that's a natural thing. You're not supposed to love him." When I read the Raven Boys for the first time in April, we met Ronan, and in my vlog, I literally said "I love him. He's my favorite". And it's still true. I had the instalove with Ronan. I would die for him.
I missed the live show this time around but this book definitely made me appreciate Ronan more. He’s definitely bumped up on my favorites list. Noah is still my #1 because swoon 😍😆 the window scene was one of my favorite parts. I love that this novel built upon the boys, you learn so much about them and their relationship with each other. I can’t wait until I go back and reread this series one day. I think I’ll enjoy the characters from the beginning so much more the second time around.
I had really enjoyed The Raven Boys the first time I read it and I was very excited about reading the sequels. When I read the Dream Thieves the first time I was very disappointed, as it was so slow and didn't really advance much of the plot and I was confused about a lot of things, so it was my least favourite. Only rereading it now did I truly enjoy it, because now I know a lot of important foreshadow and a lot more about Ronan, and care much more about him (and Adam) and this book is all about foreshadow and developing Ronan, and Adam and the Gangsey in general, so it reads better on a second time. Now I really enjoyed it. Even the Gray Man chapters, he is cool.
I read the raven boys and started the dream thieves like 2 years ago and I felt like raven boys was just ok and after months of trying to read dream thieves, I dnf'd it. But I decided to give it another try with this read along and I'm soooo into it, lol. I'm enjoying it so much and I see all the brilliance Maggie put into it. I definitely think it's a series that has to be read more than once to fully appreciate it.
Dream thieves was my favorite of the four. I even got it signed by Maggie. Kavinsky is my favorite character of the series, and i love the way he and Adam (yes Adam, not Ronan) mirror each other.
I kind of predicted the secret of his mom, but Kavinski surprised me. I also feel the friendships are a lot more developed than the romantic relationships. There isn't much interaction between Gansey and Blue or Blue and Adam for me to be invested in them. They felt more like a part of a self-fulfilling profecy. I was rooting so much for Gansey and Ronan instead, no matter if it was platonic or not. I agree that it all felt a lot more magical than the Raven Boys and I think that's why I enjoyed it more. The implications of their quest at the lake are interesting as well and I'm looking forward to see how they play out.
Mild spoiler:
When Gansey and Blue talked about how Adam didn't get to grow up loved that shit hurted

I get strong Marauders vibes when I read about the boys and Blue.
The best part in this book was the extended family dynamics. I wish I lived in that house with Blue.
Kavinsky wasn’t the greywaren , he was a dream thieve , he could only take things out his dreams but Ronan is the greywaren because he can take things from his dreams but he can also talk to the people in his dreams.
I really shouldn't be watching this because I want to read this series but... Kat brings me joy.
Same
kayla: I kind of skim the parts with the gray man

Ikr ;-;
My favorite scene for sure is Blue and Maura spooning
josefin lundahl I really love them

The dream thieves was my fave book of all 4 also, cause i love ronan and noah so much and they have a lot of scenes together in this book

This is making want to re read the whole series and I just read them a couple of months ago for the first time
My fav character in the first and second book is Persephone.
Yes! She was definitely my favourite psychic in the two books.
I love Maura and she likes The Gray Man, so he must be nice. Right?
I feel like if someone came up to me and said “I’m a hit man” I’d be like “tight so’s my best friend”

I don't get...explain
Kavinsky is also my favorite character but how do you think Kavinsky and Adam mirror each other?

I’m still so confused about the car tire
Sad I missed the live, darn work schedule
Idk when but I started thirsting over the Grey Man too for absolutely no reason other than the fact that he’s kind of a DILF. Help me.
Which is the book that Lala mentions that is quite similar to this novel?
Ramiro Mansilla Dress Codes for Small Towns!
@@MrLaiioSpain, thanks!
OMG, For me Dream Thieves is the worst book out of the four, read it once and it took me almost two months. It's too boring.
I read it a year ago or so, but I remembered like Kavinsky was dreamt up by Ronan. Did I imagine that?
Dhor16 yup totally didn’t happen, would’ve been a crazy plot twist though 😂
Kat, you're barely audible :(
Why does everybody hate Adam lmao
For real I really don't get it lol especially with ronan and kavinsky around
Loveeeee liveeeee
