The Undercity is underground and adjacent to the river Pilt. 'Topside' is on the other side of the river Pilt. The prologue and a part of the chase scene take place on the bridge between the two. The "evil guy" is just in the regular Undercity, which on one side would be able to look out into beneath the surface of the river.
Hi there! You noted that the Vander "Don't threaten the guy who pours the drinks" quote was out of context from the trailers you watched. This is the case - a lot of the voice/action bits from the trailers are deliberately given incorrect context, to spoil at least a bit less. Let me echo others saying that this series is incredibly rich and information-dense. Very little is useless embellishment here - just about ever detail helps paint (literally) the world and the characters. And, yes, my understanding is that there are tons of easter eggs for those familiar with LoL lore, such as the Jhin mask Ekko has his spy lens built into. One significant time skip occurs between episodes - it should be pretty obvious when it happens so I won't say anything more about that now. Most episodes also begin with some deeper information about a specific character, and many of these are presented as flashbacks of one sort or another. One more thing - there are nine episodes, broken into three story arcs, or acts, of three episodes each. There is an overarching narrative, but a very definite setup-exposition-denouement cycle every three episodes. So, yeah, episodes 3, 6, and (of course) 9 are really intense. In any case, welcome to the Arcane experience, take care, and have fun! And, yeah, get the tissues ready. That's not even slightly a spoiler.
Vi told Powder not to tell Vander because she knows that Powder's ego is fragile right now, and wants her to feel like she got a win. If Vander knew, he'd get rid of them, and Powder would feel like she did something wrong yet again.
@@donmowatt Obviously none of this is a "fact" or anything but many have said that Powder basically develops a mental condition where her self worth is tied to how useful she is for Jinx after their parents died. Not healthy.
If the little “pro” lady is a yordel it may be symbolizing the use of glamour. You ain’t seen nuthin’ yet!!!! 😊. The nerdy guy making the deal’s name is Huck and of course, Vander the Hound of the Underground stepped in.
Amazing reaction :) Yes, it's worth rewatching Arcane, there are so many details in foreshadowing, parallels or even small details that can be missed on the first watch :) I myself rewatched it 8 times and I plan to rewatch it in the future :)
Thank you!! We will absolutely have to rewatch it again as soon as we finish season 1 to really iron out the details for season 2. ...what took us so long!?
Hey, I enjoyed the great video. For reference if you wanted to know the female general cop's name is Greyson, and Marcus is the douche working with her. Benzo is the shopkeeper Vander was 'arguing' with and Ekko is nicknamed the little man... Also a little note is that while the bag is in the water, the water is generally quite toxic because of the industrialization and during the breakdown between Vi and Vander after the heist, Vander had said that leaving the goods in the water is for the best so no one topside can link the crime to Vi and gang. What you should look out for is the duality in everything you see, the juxtaposition between the struggling and poor underside and the luxurious and rich upperside is a small and easy one to find. The nuances and complexities/motives are endless and having rewatched this series over and over again I keep finding something new philosophically and metaphorically speaking. Hope you keep enjoying the series and hope to see you break down "Bridging the Rift" showing the behind the scenes look on how they made Arcane after you are done with this series!
I went back and watched a few scenes and yeah i totally forgot her name right after Vander said it, I was so enthralled with the scene - all the details just flew past me - I'm actually surprised we talked for as long as we did after.. Yeah I immediately put together that little man was the assistant at the shop but Ash actually pointed out to me that the little dude is ekko - blew my mind. he's hilarious as a youngster. meh, Vander, Shmander, GIMMIE THE LOOTS. xD We will definitely try to get through this as fast as possible without me losing my mind in the edits - so we can get up to speed with season 2 - and I can't wait to check out the behind the scenes.
Thanks for the reaction. On the question of how to watch it... Acrane was initially released in 3 acts with 3 episodes each. Watching it in that manner might make sense (I personally much binged it on a weekend, which worked too ;) ), not sure what's best in regards to releasing schedule. Also if you're curious about the "Enemy" music video, there seems to be some consensus that it fits well after ep6.
Props to you for actually editing this in a day (and even releasing a bunch of other videos on the same day)! You did a good job, I always knew what you are reacting to even if you had to hide the visuals :) As a bit of backstory for the cities, which doesn't get mentioned in the show: - Geographically this place is the only land connection between the northern and southern continent - So for shorter sea travels, the people ruling the place decided to dig an artifical canal through the land - They made some wrong calculations and during the construction a huge portion of the southern region collapsed (there were a bunch of mines underground and they couldn't support the weight. That's why it goes this far down), flooding the majority of the place with water, garbage, scrap metal and all kinds of chemicals - Instead of helping them, the northern region just continued with their project and finished it while the southern region was busy cleaning up and building new homes for themselves - The northern region finished the canal and because of their location almost all of the trading routes lead through their port now. So they have access to all kinds of wares, knowledge and of course tax money for the passage. They got incredibly rich off it - Meanwhile, the southern region struggled for survival and the toxic chemicals polluted the air and water. You made a joke about the cops not even wanting to breathe the air, but that is a sad truth. The northerners, who are not used to this at all, have a hard time breathing without masks in the undercity -> There is a lot of tension and resentment about the past and how rich the upper city got while the undercity suffers from it
Also, Piltover and Zaun were originally trading ports for Valoran and Shurima. Valoran`s in the Northeastern corner of Runeterra and is based on Greece, Shurima is in the Southeast and is based on Ancient Egypt, Nubia and Kush, Piltover`s in the upper North between the two cities based on Industrial Revolution era England and Zaun is based on a mix of a subterranean version of Los Angeles in the 1990s except with even more crime, pollution, corruption, poverty and drugs as well as apartheid South Africa, the Australian Aboriginals and Victorian London at its most Dickensian.
