Re: one of the three gods being the boss, I have been wondering about them. Dionysus seems unlikely, he stands to gain perhaps the most from returning to the status quo. I guess it could work if they go the Dionysian madness route with him, but that could come off as insensitive. I did have a run recently where Heph and Apollo commented that usually Athena would be the one to greet us, but that she’s busy testing armaments. And then when I got to Chronos he asked if Athena got all the wisdom in the family, which is far and away the most complimentary thing I’ve heard him say about a member of his own family. Ares is the more chaotic god of war so it wouldn’t be shocking if he went turncoat, especially with Eris’ take on it, but something about that Chronos dialog concerns me. But who knows, maybe we’ll get another duo boss fight with both the gods of war
Holy shit, Athena/Ares Gods of War final surface boss would be the most epic thing
What if they made a fight for each olympian and it was random which one you got, then extreme measures could be duo fights. It would be a TON of work, but really cool

I could see a situation in which we find Ares at the gates of Olympus after fighting our way across the battlefield, only to find him so wholly consumed by bloodlust that he's attacking anything in his path, friend or foe

EM4 were an expansion of Chronos' trick of sending Mel back to Asphodel....
Excepts he traps her in the past, in a given way that Melinoe appears before Zagreus as an obstacle to his escape and SHE has to subdue HIM.
I genuinely believe Gaia could be the end boss for the "Surface." In Greek mythology, the matriarchy begins with Gaia and transitions to the patriarchy under Zeus. Witnessing the discord and chaos on both the surface and the underworld during Zeus' reign could motivate her to overthrow the Olympians and restore the matriarchy with the help of her children, especially the Titans. The current bosses of the surface strongly support this theory. Cyclopes, being Gaia's children, suggest that Polyphemus could be aiding his mother. Additionally, when Eris is questioned by Mel, claims to serve someone entirely different with a unique motivation. If an entity as powerful as Eris, the goddess of strife, chooses this new figure over Chronos the titan of time, it implies that her boss is a significant player on the chessboard. Considering that Chronos was the leader of the Titans and the most powerful among them, the entities who could surpass him are limited to Chaos, Gaia, or Nyx.
(Not to be one of those people but the mother of Polyphemus is not Gaia) Aside, I do think having Gaia be the surface boss would be really cool. I think it would definitely give the final surface boss unique. A lot of other guesses I’ve seen just never give the surface a boss on the same level as Chronos. So it’s be cool if we’re not only fighting Time, but the Earth herself. Though I also do wonder about the item used to defeat Chronos. We know that we need his sand and Entropy to do so. I’m not sure who would fit to drop this..
gaia would be cool but the way the unseen talk about her makes me think she's not with chronos. hecate implies gaia's helping them, allowing melinoe to find the plants she needs for her spells
Thessaly is the region of Greece between Mts Olympus and Mts Othrys. Othrys was the home to Chronos' throne and the titan's capital (like Olympus was to the gods). The Plain of Thessaly between the two mountains is where the battles of the Titanomachy was fought, and the city of Larissa lies there too.
I would *strongly* suspect that Mt. Othrys itself will feature heavily somehow. It's certainly possible it could be a biome.
Assuming the datamine-speculation is accurate, Olympus could be the third and either the plains of Thessaly, the city of Larissa, or Mt. Othrys itself might be the location for the fourth biome.
Athena and Ares are leading the war effort. They are both gods of war. That makes the most sense
I’ve seen some more data mining regarding the new locations that suggest:
Area 3 will be Mount Olympus, featuring a Boss relating to ‘Flame’ who is male and presumably a titan, alongside enemies referred to as Automatons. The idea of a male titan with ties to Fire quite strongly suggests Prometheus (who I can imagine Chronos would’ve freed from his punishment mentioned by Zag in Hades 1) which also has nice ties to the new characters of Heracles and (Pan)Dora in the mythology. The issue with this though is that I feel Prometheus’s whole thing of giving fire to man doesn’t really present him as a malevolent force, though I guess he could want revenge on the gods for punishing him? The presence of Automatons also suggests that Talos, a giant bronze automaton made by Hephaestus, could be a potential boss or (more likely due to the evidence of Prometheus) a mini boss like Charybdis, likely reprogrammed by Chronos against the gods as a weapon in his siege on Olympus.
Area 4 is unknown, but the boss is referred to as BossSnake, and also is male. The idea I’ve seen most thrown around is Typhon, who in different myths is either Chronos’ half-brother or son, the father of most monsters who had previously tried to overthrow Zeus before being buried underneath a mountain. This works as an idea for an equivalent to Chronos as a final boss for a route, and it’s easy to imagine how the story would set him up as wanting revenge on the Olympians. He is depicted often with serpent-like qualities, and is strongly linked to another serpentine monster, Python, who Apollo slew at Delphi. This may also be wrong, but I’ve also heard that the gods have lines on the surface referring to the earth shaking, which could be a reference to Typhon being imprisoned under a mountain and escaping.
There’s been a strong theming this game of the olympians not being the best for mortals, so I could definitely see Prometheus aligning with someone who wants to bring about a second golden age for them
Zeus talks about how there's something pretty dangerous on Olympus, and considering that Typhon is a menace in myth I think it makes the most sense as the final boss. If Area 3 is Olympus then I think Dionysus will probably be an NPC, since the other gods talk about how he's in hiding because of the war.
Olympus boss could be Hyperion, he's the dad of the oldest women Olympians and also Selene.
Typhon/Typhoeus was imprisoned under Mt. Etna in Sicily (which is the mythical explanation for its volcanic activity) OR was cast into Tartarus when Zeus defeated him, depending on the source. IIRC, one of the gods also mentioned Athena suspected that Chronos had an ace up his sleeve, and Typhon would make for one heck of an ace.
The boss could also be a drakon, giant serpents that were sort of the Greek version of dragons. Specifically, it might be Ladon, the one that guarded Altas and the golden apples and that Heracles slew during his labor to retrieve the apples. Since Heracles seems to be in the midst of his labors during the game, this actually seems plausible to me, though not as likely as Typhon.
Prometheus as main boos and Talos as a mid-boss for act 3 sounds like the hypest shit ever, really hope your take is right

I can see Ares being a boss.
Chronos has effectively created an Eternal War, and he's the god of war. Specifically warfare and actual battle, not war tactics like Athena
Can see him getting in the way to stop you from ruining his dream.
Gives you a Daddy-esque boon when you beat him rather than showing up on runs.
If Olympus is the fourth biome, I think the 3rd is some kind of battlefield along the foothills of the mountain. If Olympus is third, I expect fourth to be somewhere wholly different and the location where Chronos has imprisoned the Fates. Perhaps some interdimensional rift within the fabric of time, or perhaps some entire other part of the world outside Greece
I think the third biome might be inside mount Olympus and we'll have to go through caves to go up. The labyrinth of dedalus is underground so that might be that even tho it's supposed to be in crete and there, we could meet Pasiphae, another witch who is family with Circe and medea. As for the three remaining gods, i could see athena and ares being a special event in Olympus where you have to side with one or the other on how to conduct the war
To add to my theory, Medea, Pasiphae, Ariadne and Circe are the big witches and enchanteresses of the greek mythos, ariadne is the wife of dyonisus after theseus left so we could meet her in Olympus and pasiphae is the mother of the bull of minos so she would know the labyrinth of dedalus and fit nicely in there. Also, if they go the Percy jackson route, the labyrinth is huge and magical so it might span under olympus too

Kinda' doubt cronus's consort/sister will aid us but who knows! I thought she would be the stage 4 surface boss
I like the idea of Atlas being an Olympus encounter, since he’s kinda stuck there and all and he would be like Sisyphus in the first game, a fellow damned soul I guess. I also like the idea of ares being the final boss of the surface since it’s kinda implied that eris is working with or alongside him? Other than that, Prometheus and maybe some beast of legend like the Nemean lion? Or a chimera? I like the idea of a chimera who functions kinda like Theseus phase 2 in hades 1.
I think the fourth biome on the surface will be inside Chronos
And I think the FIFTH biome in the underworld will be inside Chronos
Could very easily take the appearance of a Labyrinth, like the inside of the Millennium Puzzle (lmao)
i doubt it. I am pretty sure that passage after defeating chronos is Hade's house. there is a dream memory scene where you are hades in his house. I assume that house is some kind of epilogue/conclusion scene for beating the game. The game just blocks you from entering because surface level final boss is not done.
there is slight foreshadowing that since Hera is unlocking for reaching surface and there are planned 3 extra gods to be unlocked, it might be safe to assume that there are in fact 5 potencial area/runs. There is also no guaranteed that surface leads to Olympus. Olympus might just be an extra entire area. If this is true, than we know that we have 5 runs minimum

-Area 4(Unknown name) - God ?
-Area 5(Unknown name) -> God ?

i just think how it looks to be set up at the moment (ie. getting an incantation and then just beating Chronos 'again') will be a very dull way to end the game when you do finally kill/end him
so I'm assuming they've got something planned - the little orb he drops when he dies looks like the place he goes to regenerate
If we're pretty sure about Olympus being the final biome, than I would assume that the 3rd would be some area of note between there and the coast. Ithaca would be out considering it's an island.
About possible biomes, I have wondered if it would be possible to see a "Land of Dreams" after Chronos has been defeated via the missing incantation. Just based on the fact that Hypnos is there sleeping, that "The Odyssey locates a "land of dreams" past the streams of Oceanus, close to Asphodel Meadows, where the spirits of the dead reside." (per Wikipedia), and that I just want to see all the characters from Hades 1 and 2 reunited in some way.
Apollo on the axe just makes the swing absolutely massive, it's crazy
my guess: third biome is like garden/outskirts of olympus and will have a larger creature boss. my random guess is the Sphinx or Chimera. then the actual palace of the gods is the final biome and you fight ares or some other god idk

I'm sure this theory has been done to death, but I do think it's possible we could have a Mel vs. Zag fight at some point. Not that it's LIKELY, but possible. My reasoning is the guidebook's description of the staff refers to Descura as having been created to "bring her brother-arms to heel if the need arose."
That wording seems like a deliberate choice; the Infernal Arms in the first game were not spoken of in a gendered way iirc, but all the Nocturnal Arms are referred to in feminine terms. Why make this distinction? Why not refer to all the weapons as "it?" Both sets of weapons seem to be semi-sentient, so that can't be it. And why would the Infernal Arms be their brothers specifically? Why not their sisters or cousins? This seems deliberate.
Plus, the staff is Mel's signature weapon--I know the cover art shows her with the blades, but the staff is the weapon you first start out with, witches are associated with staffs, and it's an all-rounder like the blade was for Zag. And it seems strange that only Descura is referred to as being made for this purpose; the other weapons make no mention of the Infernal Arms. And you could say that Eris has the rail, but Nemesis has the blade currently, so it doesn't seem to be meant as bringing all the Infernal Arms to heel, as though they're all in use against the realm. The only wrinkle here is that since Nem has the blade, it would mean Zag can't use it, which does take away from the thematic clash of using their signature weapons against each other.
To me, the "brother-arms" phrase is a subtle hint that Mel may come to clash against Zag for one reason or another--maybe not as a literal boss fight, but emotionally or otherwise. Maybe Chronos hasn't just trapped Zag and co. in time, maybe's he's created horrific dreams/visions for them the way he tries to suck Mel into intermittently throughout the runs? Maybe you have to fight them out of it? Or just Zag, since otherwise that'd be a lot of boss fights to design.
I'm also fond of the tinfoil hat idea that Chronos has brainwashed/empowered Zag and is using him to assault Olympus, but the gods aren't telling Mel so as to keep her morale up. However, given the little file name bits and other theories people have shared for the Olympus path already, I think this one is super unlikely lol
something about the Hephy legendary -- I swear the chance to get it is so much lower than all the others. I think I had nearly every boon I could get from Heph and the legendary never showed up. Even had the yarn + mini-boss with his boon as the reward... rolled twice.... no legendary
I've decided I'm too excited to wait for the full release and it is now downloaded on my computer instead of waiting for console... In theory it should run fine, but I by no means have great specs
Maybe we could fight ares in the same way we fight hecate, like hes testing our strength. And maybe after the fight he gives us one boon kinda like hades and artemis

While its easily the most boring option of the bunch, I think its reasonable to assume that the enemies haven't yet pushed their way all the way to the heart of olympus, so I don't see why we would have a bossfight there, and therefore I don't think the actual place the gods call home will be a fully fledged region. I think it will be more like the ending of hades 1 where its just a couple rooms you go through to meet up with the family, but its technically its own place.

I would like to see Zag as an secondary Endoss in Hades (mind controled by Chronos) aswell as Athena in Athens and Ares on the Peak as opponents... Achilles would also be very interesting.
The best thing would be having to fight one of the God´s as an Endboss for the surface which then changes, I mean Thessius had support from different God´s in his fight which always resulted in a different experience.
